FINALLY the Hawks are on the board! Sharp with a PP goal. 3-1 Leafs. -
QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) Suicide has always been something that breaks my heart. You just know in your heart of hearts that if any of them were given the chance to live again after the fact they would take it and know that they made the wrong choice based on what they are feeling at the moment. Its just f***ing senseless and your hurting the people that love and care about you more than anything. WHO IS THIS? IS THIS SHIPPS' WIFE POSTING THIS? TELL US GOD DAMN IT!!!! ....turnabout is fair play....see the mailman thread in SLaM for context.

Criminal. It's not up to him to decide what gets delivered. If his medical problems made it too difficult to do his job, he should go get them taken care of or get off the route. The fact that it was junk mail is irrelevant - he was deciding what got delivered to its intended destination. Sorry if I misplaced my sense of humor on this one.

It seems like a lifetime ago that I picked up 2 tickets 9 rows off the glass for literally nothing (plus TicketBastard fees, of course - ). From giving away tickets 2 seasons ago to leading the NHL in attendance. Crazy. -
Petulantly asking my mother why we had to go outside in the snowstorm of 1967 to get food for my baby sister (or as I referred to her, "that pig"). Placing a baseball glove over the fingers of the cast on my broken left arm while learning to throw right-handed (due to my broken left arm). Watching my dad slip, fall, and break his wrist while we played hockey on the frozen schoolyard across the street from my house.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) There is simply no way you can trade Bulin right now. No way. This is the dilemma right here. You always want, in theory, to deal a guy at his highest value point to get the most in return. But Bulin is playing so well right now that it seems crazy to deal him. However, if Tallon waits until Bulin cools off, his trade position weakens as well (unless someone's #1 guy gets hurt or something, but you can't really count on that). Tallon has to decide what his priority is, short-term or long-term. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) Everyone gets a Free Dr. Pepper coupon this weekend to celebrate Guns & Roses actually putting out an album. Unfortunately, that bottle of Dr. Pepper is going to be the best thing about Chinese Democracy.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) I would hope they would get more than Nylander for Buff. I think they need a player like Nylander (athough they had a player like Nylander, his name is Robert Lang) more than they need a guy like Byfuglien. Still not sure how they'd make the money work, unless they send someone down to the IcePigs where his NHL salary wouldn't count against the cap. Sopel, perhaps? That's make a bunch of us happy. -

That was quite a game of pass and pass and pass the Hawks just played to end the OT session. Hmmm.....is that a shootout loss I smell??? We shall see momentarily. 1 road point is nice enough, I guess, but 2 would be nicer. -
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 12:05 AM) You guys are so funny, if people don't like the bands you like they don't know about music??? Well, I can tell by this post that you know NOTHING about music!!!

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 11:24 PM) The guy was a great manager and got Umaga over and they just toss him aside. He could of had a stable of wrestlers and gave the company an old school style. Totally agree. They had something good building and they blew it up. I don't know why Vince hates managers these days, especially when he has so many guys on the roster who can't cut a decent promo to save their lives. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) That was a terrible game to base opinions on, but it's clear the sporadic playing time is effecting Huet. Ugh, Dale Tallon. We were one year from being free of bad goaltender contracts, and now we may have another. Maybe Huet just needs the playing time, but this franchise really needs to look into developing its own netminder (and please, no Crawford comments, the guy is not going to be an option). From all accounts Niemi could be that guy. Hey, another OT game! Surprise!!! -
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 11:54 PM) If somebody doesn't like The Hold Steady they just don't like Bruce Springsteen either. FICKST!!! I like some Hold Steady - Stuck Between Stations and Chips Ahoy are my favorite songs by them - but I'm not crazy about all their stuff.
-
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 04:34 PM) What I liked was the unpredictable nature of their shows and the much more aggressive playing as compared to their recordings. If they tried to play a cover and they ("they" meaning Paul, of course) didn't like the way it was turning out, they'd just stop and ditch the song. Stuff like that makes a show more interesting to me than a slick, produced, choreographed show. I'm much more likely to enjoy a chaotic, spontaneous show - that's rock and roll to me. It was the booze dude. You're fixating on the cause, I'm diggin' the effect.

I saw a guy on the train today with THE WORST custom jersey I have ever seen. The front of the jersey was a Cubs home jersey with a Hawks emblem on the right chest. The Hawk head was about 1/4 the size of the Cubs logo on the left chest. The back of the jersey was a Blackhawks red jersey with the sleeves cut to match the length of the Cubs jersey sleeves. The "name" on the back was WINTER CLASSIC and the number was 09. The guy had at least two of them in his bag. White and blue and black and red and vertical stripes and horizontal stripes. Awful.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) See THAT"S exactly it. They built a rep on being a drunk, sloppy mess on stage. I think that had a lot to do with their popularity. Not to say that their fans don't enjoy their music, but there's some weird fascination that people have about watching musicians drinking themselves to death. ...and why the hell are they called the Mats? I can only speak for myself, and I didn't enjoy ther drunkenness per se. I did enjoy the loose vibe it helped to create onstage. I think they would have been largely the same without the drink, but who's to say for sure? I certainly didn't enjoy Bob Stinson's drinking leading to his being kicked out of the band, and eventually leading to his death. What I liked was the unpredictable nature of their shows and the much more aggressive playing as compared to their recordings.

I think it's all relative. If the US had 43 consecutive black presidents, I tend to believe that many white people would vote for a white candidate, believing he or she may have their interests closer to the front burner. Is that a racist thought pattern? I don't know. Doesn't automatically seem that way to me.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 03:18 AM) Are you sitting down? I think The Replacements are one of the most over rated bands ever. I'm not saying they suck, I think they're all right, but they sound really, really outdated nowadays. I don't agree, at least not through Pleased To Meet Me. I listen to a lot of their stuff to this day, and it still holds up well to my ears. Of course I'm biased because the Replacements have a near and dear place in my heart. I loved the Mats, and they put on one of the most entertaining shows I've ever seen. They were kind of sloppy live, but I've rarely had more fun at a concert.

Just saw the fight on mmalinker. Randy did some nice things in this match, but Brock was just too big for Randy to take down or establish position. There was some crying on the boards about Brock grabbing the cage, but I don't think he did that much more than anyone else does. Brock's collegiate wrestling experience helped him out a lot as far as holding position and keeping leverage and weight on Randy. I'm sure Randy would have dominated the later rounds, as Brock was starting to gas, but a hard shot to the temple area and what seemed like about 2,000 punches after that took care of any talk of later rounds. Congrats to Lesnar, and I'll be interested to see how he does against Nog/Mir after their interim HW title fight.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Nov 16, 2008 -> 09:46 AM) Oh yeah, without a doubt! BUT I am such a Tommy nut that I have actually thought about buying that damn album just to support Tommy, and I hate GnR. Don't do it! It's a bad record! Tommy's probably a salaried employee anyway, I'd bet that all the post-recoup money goes to Bill Bailey.

QUOTE (tommy @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) Is there a place around Chicago you can watch this fight and don't need an ID? Some of my friends are not 21, we're trying to watch this fight. Here's a list of places showing the PPV. Most appear to be bars, but you can make some calls to ask about under-21 options. http://www.mmahotstuff.com/about/2008/11/u...-locations.html Spike TV is showing a preview show, and they're kind of making me want to order the PPV. I won't order it, but they're making me want to.
