  1. More injury time off for Mr. Kennedy: [courtesy Lords of Pain, of course] -- Mr. Kennedy is scheduled for shoulder surgery this Friday, reports PWInsider.com. He is expected to miss four to six months after the procedure, which will be performed by Dr. Andrews. Kennedy injured his shoulder during a house show match with Shelton Benjamin earlier this month, and has been working lightly ever since. Kennedy was diagnosed with a torn labrum and damage to his rotator cuff. After two weeks of rehab and no progress, it was determined he would require surgery. There sure are a bunch of WWE Superstars on the shelf these days....
  2. I'm obviously very happy about this news, but ultimately I don't think even Foley The Great will make much of an iMpact!!! on the ratings. source: www.pwtorch.com TNA and Mick Foley have come to an agreement. He will able to debut in TNA as soon he is contractually permitted to. His current contract with WWE expires by September 1. Spike TV helped TNA in landing the deal with Foley, and he may have a subsidized contract. Foley could end up being involved in other projects with Spike TV. WWE dropped Foley from television a few weeks ago after they found he was unhappy with his status in the company and likely not renewing his contract. There was a lot of buzz among the wrestlers in the locker room this past, but TNA officials are keeping quiet on the situation. Although, they were hopeful that TNA President Dixie Carter would get a deal done with Foley.
  3. My dad would always say this on a cold day: "It's colder than a witch's tit in a brass bra!"
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 11:59 AM) Didn't he grow up a Sox fan? I don't know him personally.
  5. I look forward to that glorious day when I am the only non-moderator on this site. That day is coming, my friends.....
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 08:29 AM) The marketing of the Blackhaws is actually getting kind of sad in this regard. I guess that is where the disposable income is at. I feel the game will be a disaster with the inabiltiy to actaully see anything but whatever the joint is a shrine. I've been calling their marketing The Second Cubbing since McDonough came aboard..
  7. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) The Titus Andronicus album from the Spring is 45 minutes of must listen. If you like The Replacements, Clash and Arcade Fire its pretty much all three thrown into one giant mound of amazing. Is there any way to scrape the Arcade Fire portion off that mound?
  8. Between North and this, it's as if quality somehow is starting to matter in Chicago media. I'll take it. Good riddance, Eddie Munster. I won't miss your drivel.
  9. He really IS SuperCena!!! [courtesy Lords of Pain] - John Cena underwent surgery earlier today to repair a herniated disc in his neck. WWE.com updated Cena's status following the surgery. "I think John’s prognosis is excellent," neurosurgeon Joseph Maroon said. "He should be able to return to wrestling in two to four months. John will be working out next week. We performed this same procedure on three all pro NFL players; and all three resumed their football careers.”
  10. My wife quit cold turkey the day she learned she was pregnant (that was over 9 years ago now) and she never went back to it full-time. She's one of those people who can have one or two smokes when she goes out drinking, but then just drop it again for months or years at a time. There was no program she followed or anything - she just stopped. She was a pack-a-day smoker at her worst. Needless to say, I'm really glad she quit, and I don't give her grief on the rare occasions when she'll have one. I just hope she never starts smoking regularly again. I don't think she will. I smoked for two weeks in high school, saw that I looked like a total poser tard and stopped.....I still look like a total poser tard, just without a cigarette.....
  11. Okay, now THIS is a ray of hope! New Metallica track, My Apocolypse: http://www.metallica.com/index.asp?item=601136 The best thing about this for me is the fact that James didn't croon it up. This is what I've been hoping for from them!
  12. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) I'm a Local H fan too, but considering the price of the ticket and the rest of the line up, I'll probably pass. The Walkmen and Stereophonics (separate shows) are at Metro that week. I like them both, but has anyone seen either one live? Never seen Stereophonics, but I love the song Dakota. I only kind of like anything else by them, though. If you like their stuff, I think you should go just cuz it's at Metro.
  13. Hawks signed Aliu to a 3-year deal today. http://blackhawks.nhl.com/team/app/?servic...rticleid=380001 He'll probably go back to juniors since he's still just 19, right? Or does he go to Rockford?
  14. I would watch Kimbo v Shamrock on TV from morbid curiosity. I wouldn't pay to see it, though.
  15. For a band who doesn't like people stealing music, seems like Metallica has "borrowed" their share of it in the past: This: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE5M4PTTKjQ plus this: = Sanitarium and what does THIS sound like? http://www.last.fm/music/Excel/_/Tapping+I...+Emotional+Void The middle riff to THIS sounds just a little like the end of Fade To Black: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6OLEPaIMhA Interesting....
  16. QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 02:02 AM) I'm a Local H fan, other than that I'm not really interested. Yeah, I'm also a Local H fan, but there's just too much crap to sit through to get to them.
  17. Ozzie should ease Joe back in while still playing Juan at 3B a few times a week. Juan's earned his playing time, and Joe's back is made of glass and balsa wood.
  18. Now THIS is f***ing sad. The Nature Boy is comin'.......to Oak Lawn...... ....whoo?..... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle1596414.ece
  19. Dempster worked his ass off to prepare to become a starter again. From the New York Times: "Dempster spent his off-season outside Denver training with virtual masochism. At 7,200 feet altitude, he would run up mountains with a resistant harness. He outfitted his garage with new equipment. And he would wake up at 7 a.m. to run one, two and then three steps at a time up the rows of the nearby Red Rocks Amphitheater." Don't forget that this is his walk year. He's going to get paid big-time by someone, and any playoff success is only going to boost the numbers he will get.
  20. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) Looks like I'll be in town for Sept 9th-16th. Any good shows in town during that time? I can't recommend anything. The Q101 Block Party is happening, but I think all the bands on that bill are weak.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) He stole Aramis too, hell Randall Simon and I think Kenny Lofton were in that trade too that were big boosts for the cubs during that season as well. Simon was a separate trade. The Pirates acquired Ray Sadler for Simon, so you can see why they couldn't pass up THAT deal. The Aramis robbery was Ramirez and Lofton for Jose Hernandez, THE GREAT Bobby Hill and some other nobody.
  22. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) Also, wearing your name and an off the wall number on a jersey is beyond pointless. I disagree with this. I'd much rather wear my nickname and number than another guy's name. Personal preference, to be sure, and I only own two personalized jerseys (Hawks home and Bruins road).
  23. Wow, the Nationals are beating up the Cubs' bullpen.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) You're a Red Wings fan, but it was arrogant and garbage to bring the Stanley Cup, that Detroit won, to Chicago to show it off like we would embrace it. Agreed. It's exactly the sort of dick move a steaming pile like Chelios would pull.
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) I was at a Cubs/Sox game a few years ago when Chelios was there with the Stanley Cup and the majority of fans boo'd him and rightfully so since we hate Detroit. Wonder if the boo'd it again today. I would never boo the Cup, but I'd certainly boo Cheap Shot Chelios. I love the Wings but I can't stomach that tool.
