QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) Keenan... I've met the guy - he's an interesting character. Now of course, didn't have a deep conversation or anything, just a handshake, and an exchange of "pleasantries". He's a pretty intense guy, for sure. Very creepy to see that dude smile, cuz he almost never does. It's like his face isn't used to smiling, and it fights the urge. -

Went online yesterday and was happy to find that there were still some 2-for-1 15-dollar seats for 10/22 vs. Edmonton. 2 tickets for 27 bucks after TicketBastard fees = not bad! -

Some sad Bobby Heenan news, courtesy Lords of Pain: -- WWE Hall of Famer Bobby "The Brain" Heenan is not doing too well health wise these days as his health is said to be deteriorating, according to a report on www.WrestlingEpicenter.com, a site that has interviewed a number of wrestling stars over the past few years. The WWE Hall of Famer's health is so bad that one source told the website that he does not believe Heenan will make it another month. The source said Heenan is now having trouble remembering the people around him. Heenan has been in a Tampa, Florida area hospital since December. He was first put in due to reconstructive surgery on his jaw, after the first surgery was unsuccessful. Heenan was placed in a medically induced coma and was slowly brought out. In late January, Bobby Heenan was brought out, but was unable to speak. He was also in line for some more surgeries to reconstruct his facial features. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) As soon as the Hawks turn into the Cubs, which is going to be sooner then later, I'm getting rid of my season seats. Some would suggest it's already happened. -
I don't make mistakes. The players made mistakes by not playing up to/down to my expectations.

Slim pickings for the Hawks single-game tickets today. I wanted just one game for sure, vs. the Bruins on November 12th. They had no 20-dollar seats left, so I had to grab 40-dollar seats. I'll have to rely on family and friends to get to a few more games this year. -

Video of Metallica playing a new song, Cyanide, at Ozzfest. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermo...wsitemID=102536 I dunno, I'm not crazy about it. It's definitely better than Fake Anger, and they're trying to get back to the longer songs with a lot of breaks and time changes, but it just lacks something to me. I was hoping James was going to get away from the yodeling vocal style and growl a little more, but it's not happening here. It's decent, but it doesn't make me want to buy or even "otherwise obtain" the new disc.

QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) Kudos to Carrasco for keeping us in up to this point. His reward will probably be a rotation spot so he can be victimized by the bullpen, too.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) I almost put the original Fear version down here yesterday. The Fear version is a million times better than the GnR. On my last day of a job I had brought in a stereo and walked out with "F*ck You" by DOA playing full volume. It was a thing of beauty. I also have a version of "I Don't Care About You" by Junkyard. I'd place it between Fear's and GnR's in quality.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 03:49 AM) It would also bring up an (excuse/reason) for teams to blame games on umpires...they'd just say "Hey look, he sucks at umping and it gets worse against so-and-so team." That said, there are umpire stats kept somewhere and if baseball teams don't scout the umps as well as players coming up, then they should. Yeah, it would, but teams (and announcers - I'm looking at YOU, Hawkeroo) do that anyway - it would be nice to see if a complaint had merit, if a particular ump did make bad calls more often "against" certain teams. It just seems to me that the umpires' performance reviews are much more clandestine than they should be, and a little more accountability and transparency would be a good thing in my opinion. Weed out the under-performers and "call up" minor-league guys who show consistency and progress.
