QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) And Ovechkin makes $9.5M a season right? Be hard to turn that down, but he's not going to be playing with Sidney Crosby's over in Russia either. My guess is he'll stay for sure. The tax-free part makes the 12.5 that much more alluring. Plus the opportunity to play close to home might enter into it (I don't know if that matters to him or not). He may not play with Sidney Crosbys in Russia, but he'd BE Sidney Crosby in Russia. I know I'd rather play in the NHL, but this offer will definitely be a healthy bargaining chip if nothing else. Another twist is the comment from the president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, saying the Continental League could be open for "penalties" if they pursue Malkin. This should get more interesting in the next few weeks.

Just saw on the ESPN crawl that the Continental Hockey League in Russia is going to offer Malkin a multi-year deal worth at least $12.5 mil per year tax-free to play there. The plot thickens....

Thrashers are denying the report: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-20-...0,7957900.story What the f*** does Anderson need to do to get a chance? All he's done at the IHL and AHL level is win. Maybe they're just denying it until after the draft.

Terrible outing by Marmol. 2 walks and a hit batter to force in a run. 3-2 Cubs now, but the Rays have the bases loaded and no outs.

Zambrano just left the game with some sort of right shoulder discomfort. That would be a big loss for them.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) If Jeff Hardy can get a push after his drug habit and Orton can get title runs after throwing immature temper tantrums and testing positive for whatever substance it was, Santino's DUI should have no effect on him...or Carlito. Well, as we all know by now, Vince is anything but consistent in his judgment of or treatment of talent. Hardy is just so crazy stupid over that Vince has to recognize the value of keeping him around and in the spotlight. Hardy moves a lot of XXL girls' merch, so that has to help his cause. Vince has a raging hard-on for Orton, so he'll get chance after chance as well. For whatever reason (it seems to be his backstage attitude), Carlito fell into Vince's s***house right from the start, and his pushes and de-pushes, along with the injuries, have kept him from building any momentum at all. I happen to enjoy Carlito quite a bit, and I think he and Santino can be an interesting team for a good while if given the chance. Carlito popping off like he has would seem to harpoon any chance of the tag team continuing for any length of time, though.

Carlito has decided to fast-track his attempt to get fired. OR, he's decided he doesn't want to ever get a WWE victory again for the length of his contract. http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/2008/articles/1213464018.php One example of his rant: "I may get in trouble, but that's why I'm here. My opinion is that it was a smart move by [HHH]. I think that's why he's champion now and has been champion in the past, it's easier to him. We, the real wrestlers, don't depend on people in the business. We don't have that benefit. We have to deliver the maximum in the ring. Others are given championships in a plate of gold or platinum, I'm happy for him."

Just got back from Iron Man. Really enjoyable movie - I don't think I'd call it "great" or anything, but it was a lot of fun and had some good laughs in it as well. Robert Downey Jr. was really, really good.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 13, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) LOL, hard for Mike Vick to get a DUI when he's already in jail. Title fixed. LOL, yeah, I doubt Mike gets the keys to the warden's car. Shows you my level of interest in football, huh?

Iron Maiden KILLED last night! It was the first time I'd seen them since 1984, and the band sounds as good now as they did then, maybe even better. Steve Harris is the best bassist I've ever seen, and Bruce Dickinson hit every high note, even the shriek at the beginning of Number Of The Beast, which I wasn't expecting him to hit anymore. It was an all-nostalgia setlist - nothing from any of their more recent CDs, which was fine by me, since I think their latest discs are a little lackluster. All in all, it was a great night of rock once Harris' daughter Lauren's band left the stage. They were f***ing horrible. Bland, awful "modern heavy rock" garbage. Their songs were forgettable before they even stopped playing. She and her band are boring trash.
