I don't find Orton interesting in any way whatsoever. He works well enough in the ring, but he's awful on the mic and he's just bland.
-
If they can prove he bet on baseball during his playing days, he shouldn't be in the Hall Of Fame. If they can't, he should be inducted for his achievements as a player. That's my take on it anyway. I completely understand why people would disagree, though.

Turns out he committed suicide. He locked himself in a bathroom with two charcoal grills going. Weird way to do it.... He apparently taped two notes to the bathroom door. No word from police on what the notes said. What a sad story.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 05:47 PM) When some of you people get a chance, read this game thread from the beginning. So much negativity, so much angst, an outside person wouldnt even know this is a White Sox FAN site. This is supposed to be a board of people who love this team and this organization. Dude, get used to it. Game threads are awful - the most negative part of this board by far.

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) I knew it was supposed to cool off I just thought we had some thunderstorms in the works. I've seen forecasts calling for a mix of rain and snow Thursday night/Friday morning. We'll see. I hope not, I've had enough of "God's Vomit" for this winter.

Yo I Just Got Opening Day Tix @ Ticketmaster
The Critic replied to LVSoxFan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I went on there just now for fun, and the best available was a single in row 1 of section 526. Good score for you, LV! Have fun at the game! -
"Big Cat" Ernie Ladd passed away on Sunday. He was 68 years old. Former NFL'er and one of my early favorites when I first started going to matches. He'd occasionally work the Amphitheatre shows for Bob Luce's promotion. R.I.P. Big Cat.

Butter is toast. He gone. Can the Twins or Tigers trade for him, please?

Parque flashing that Gold Glove defense. HA.

Why is Gonzalez looking for a walk against a BP pitcher?

This is a vintage Parque hit-fest.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) It was a cannon though. I was impressed. The phrase I used for a throw like that when I was playing ball was: "there's no sight on that rifle".

DJ: "good throw by Anderson, a little high" as it sails WAAAAAY over the catcher's head.

Wow, that's really sad news. He must have seen no way to get through his problems to off himself like that. Jeni was a pretty funny guy. R.I.P. Richard.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) Saw it last night and thought it was very good. I thought Downey Jr was good too, and there were a few when I said to myself "He's not doing much acting here." Downey's work in Less Than Zero was borderline documentary.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 10:22 AM) Well I do too, but it's always been that way, from Ball Four to Barry Bonds. And it's always easier to fall in line than it is to stand up against something, especially if a lot of your peers are in on it. I guess my problem is his attempt to make it sound like he's The Protector Of The Game, when all I think he is is an accomplice.

Anyone ordering "Desperation X" tonight? Not a great card, but should be fairly interesting. That X-shaped scaffold match should be boring as f***, though - those scaffold matches always suck.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:48 AM) I meant that most players don't rat each other out in situations like that because they think it's bad for the game, b, and they do things of the sort themselves, a. I'd be way more likely to believe option (a) - "I won't 'rat you out' if you don't rat me out". But even so, the Sosa case was different - no one was ratting anyone out. His bat broke, the evidence was right there. To try to hide the bat from the umpires was asinine, and doesn't serve "the way the game has been played for years" in any way, shape or form. I guess Hall's more comfortable with people thinking all athletes cheat, or at the very least having suspicions about most of them. He's obviously free to believe whatever he wants. I just think his opinion on this matter is wrong.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox11.article In this article, Hall admits that he tried to get rid of Sammy's corked bat before the umps could see it, and that this was somehow "protecting the game". WRONG, Toby. Protecting the game means EXPOSING frauds and cheaters when you see it happen in front of you. I wonder if Toby thinks the steroid freaks are good for the game? They're giving the game a "black eye" Toby doesn't seem to think it needs, too, aren't they? Yikes.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) When Jenks dropped off 8-10 on his fastball last spring, they said he needed time to get ready. I would imagine Prior, if he makes it without hurting himself to opening day, would be at about 90-93. The thing about Prior is this "genetic looseness" in his throwing shoulder. If it's not just an excuse they made up, that could be the reason his velocity is down. Jenks was way out of shape (even for him) last spring and got his velocity back through work. Prior might, too, but I'm still amazed at his decline from The Man With The Perfect Mechanics to The Question Mark Made Of Glass.

This really surprised me for some reason. http://www.thebostonchannel.com/entertainm...p=entertainment Boston was one of my favorite bands in the 70s. go out to his family.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 10:38 AM) Hey, when The Go-Go's were big nobody wanted to see Belinda naked either. Don't knock what 15 years can do for some people. (this being said...I, for the life of me, can't remember what Jennifer Hudson even looks like facially) Hell, at my age I may not want to see ANY woman naked in 15 years, so JH better get hot quicker than THAT....
