QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 05:32 PM) Man, you and your Carolla! Why don't you just marry him!?! ...cuz we're both ALREADY MARRIED, stupey!!!!!

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 05:16 PM) I don't know, do you still hate your iPod? What is it that didn't do it for you? I think they do an amazing job, pretty much. Granted, I hate the Pantera stuff, and skip the Queensryche, but they do nail those pretty much dead on. They were fine, they nailed the music and the singer is good enough, but when I was listening it made me want to listen to the original artists. I'd go see them play for sure (well, if I went to shows anymore...), but I just didn't want to keep the songs. I have an "arrangement" with my iPod - "you keep playing those Adam Carolla Show clips for me and I won't hide you in a dresser drawer and go back to my Walkman". Seriously, though, I've barely played any music since I started listening to Carolla. Zencast has about 8 to 10 clips from his show every day online. It's great!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) I think about half of Soxtalk just creamed their shorts. ...along with Brian Anderson.

Okay, so I downloaded the Nemisis Theory files, and they were good in the sense that they made me want to hear the original songs, but I have to admit that I didn't save any of the songs to my iPod. ...so is that a good review or a bad one?....

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 12:20 PM) My buddy gave me permission to post this. It's his band, they do all Metal covers, and they do them better than any other Metal cover band out there, many times being dead-on accurate to the real bands. They are local Chicago, so if you see them in your area, go check them out. They are playing Duke O'Brians in Crystal Lake this weekend. The show here is straight from the soundboard...no overdubs. Set List: 1. Neon Knights 2. Green Manalishi 3. Cowboys From Hell 4. Bark At The Moon 5. Operation Mindcrime 6. Speak 7. The Mission 8. Needle Lies 9. Eyes Of A Stranger 10. Monkey Business 11. Number Of The Beast 12. Black 13. Heaven And Hell 14. The Mob Rules 15. Barracuda 16. Only 17. Last In Line 18. Man On The Silver Mountain 19. Cemetery Gates 20. The Ripper 21. Queen Of The Ryche 22. Take Hold Of The Flame 23. Pull Me Under 24. Aces High 25. Clairvoyant 26. KISS Medley http://www.bigupload.com/d=C3BE52B5 Their site: http://www.nemesistheory.com/ I'm definitely grabbing this when I get home. That's a very nice setlist! ...but are you sure they're better than Fozzy?.....

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) I can understand why Singleton would be uncomfortable in the booth with Farmer, the man's ego probably has Chris pinned in the corner of the room. Farmer just has one of those personalities that could put an inexperienced broadcaster like Singleton uneasy, he commands the booth and doesn't seem to even want to interact with Singleton for most of the broadcast. It's probably what makes Farmer such a brutal broadcaster. A Jackson/Singleton television crew like we saw in spring training would be fantastic though, those 2 guys have amazing chemistry when together. A Stone/McDowell booth on the radio could probably work out pretty well too, you wouldn't have a set play by play guy but you'd have 2 guys who are incredibly knowledgeable and comfortable announcing a game just kind of telling you what's happening on the field. I'd enjoy both of those teams. It would get rid of Farmer without bringing in Wills, and that works just fine for me.

QUOTE(TheOcho @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) I think we can all agree that it was his new facial hair that messed his game up. Although it did make him look years younger. He looked like he was in his early 50s.
-
Who knew that Vince had such a lemonhead under that weird toupee-like hairdo of his? He has quite the Dr. Evil look happening now!
-
QUOTE(GaelicSoxFan @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) $50 says Vince shows up on Raw tonight with some roadkill on his head . Okay, I'll do this here too... Another 50 says Eugene laughs at McMahon's head and gets destroyed. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 09:12 AM) So it doesn't step on any toes when Austin stunners Umaga to gain the win for Trump/Lashley. And then stunners Vince to get him in the barber chair. And then stunners the entire "creative" team for putting everyone through this. Please forgive the self-quote, but I can only hope I went 3-for-3 in my scenario and Austin Stunnered anyone and everyone backstage who was involved in scripting that crapload.

Tribune Company Accept's Zell's Bid

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 12:34 PM) I believe he's made the offer to buy the Pirates before. I wasn't sure if he had or not, but I knew I heard the rumor, at least. Like I said, that's the team that makes the most sense, both emotionally for him and financially. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 10:41 AM) I would love to see Cuban own a baseball team, but any team other than the Cubs. I think he would be successful. The only speculation I've seen anywhere (and I've never seen the speculation backed up by Cuban quotes) is that he'd be interested in the Pirates, since he's a Pennsylvania guy. It makes more sense financially to buy the Pirates. There's nowhere to go but up in Pittsburgh, and it seems like all revenue streams are maxed out, or close to it, on the North side. He'd be hamstrung by the inability to build a new ballpark somewhere else, the lack of parking, and the limited alterations he'd be allowed to do to Wrigley. -
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 09:30 AM) Uh, yeah, it's now April 2nd. Duh.

And now the "Please, Mark Cuban, Buy The Cubs" campaign begins. Or more accurately, it picks up steam, since Cubs fans have wanted Cuban to buy the team for a while now. -
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 09:08 AM) You didn't get a chuckle out of The Google's TiSP? As a stand-alone joke, it was OK, but it didn't really work for me as an April Fool's joke. Truth is, I think the whole April Fool's thing is over.
-
Well, it's official - my daughter telling me that our car got a flat tire is officially the closest thing to a funny April Fool's Day gag I heard this year.

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 02:59 AM) Will be interesting to listen, but I hope this doesn't mean Singleton will carry the PBP load? Does Stone do any PBP? From what I heard Stone say on the radio this weekend, he's going to do most of the PBP. I'll have the sound down on the TV for this one. Stone's one of my favorites - I've been hoping he'll end up in one of the Sox' broadcast booths ever since he left the Cubs. Please let this be the crack in the door for him. Stone > Farmer any day of the week.
-
Quoted For Truth. He agrees with you.

QUOTE(wcw2323 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 04:33 PM) I would love to see this kid get a shot with another team. I think the Sox would be making a huge mistake if they traded him though! I doubt they trade any potential 5th starter candidates until the July pre-deadline trading period. Unless they can get a power arm for the bullpen...

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) What's Walker doing when all this is going on? Enjoying the meaningless spring.
-
Hey, I hope all the optimists are right, but the won-lost record isn't what has me concerned. It's the level of play I've seen. If they're waiting until April 2nd to start making plays and getting guys out, then it's the right move to stink now. All I'm saying is the more I've seen as spring training has gone on, the less I've liked. We'll see what happens when the bell rings. Maybe they can duplicate 2005. That would be great, obviously.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 09:54 AM) Isn't it impossible for 3 teams from one division to make the playoffs? I took it as "don't count on the Wild Card coming from the Central, so only one team is likely to make the playoffs". So 3 of the 4 contenders won't make it in his scenario, with only the AL Central champ making it to post-season play. The wording is a little unusual, but I believe that's the point he's making.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 09:54 AM) Its good to see that everyone is excited about the upcoming baseball season. I can't believe how much people are already giving up on a season that hasnt even started. its f***ing bulls***. thank you for your opinion.

Free Blackhawks Tickets - Wed 3/28 or Friday 3/30

QUOTE(shoota @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) Just got back from tonight's game. How often do they do this promotion? Not often. I'd guess that tomorrow's game is the last one for the year. They only have Sunday's game and then Thursday against Detroit (and they never have to give away tickets for a Hawks/Wings game). These freebies have been the only positive thing about the Hawks sucking yet again. -
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 07:14 AM) ... and to think I got attached here a few months back when I said this would be a rebuilding here. Reality check. Well, I don't think it's a rebuilding year exactly. There are still too many older players for me to call it that. Replacing Anderson with Erstad kind of belies the idea of rebuilding, IMO. I just don't know if the Sox will hit enough to overcome would could very well be a mediocre rotation.
-
The only thing that worries me is the fact that the Sox have pretty serious questions about 4 of the 5 starters. (I'll exclude Garland at this point because back-to-back 18-win seasons grant you a little leeway in my book) Buerhle still looks hittable more often than not this spring Vasquez has to prove that his "stuff" can translate into something more than a .500 pitcher Contreras has age and injury history going against him Danks may have to provide more than would normally be expected of a rookie #5, and hasn't proven to be up to it yet Behind them, the Sox don't have any rotation depth to speak of, so any injuries or failures by any of those four pitchers and this season could indeed become quite hard to watch. I'm hopeful this year, but I don't have that "rah rah" feeling I had last year at this point
