  1. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 09:17 AM) I am hoping and praying that Zambrano takes that team to the BANK! You say that like it would hurt them. The biggest fear my Cub fan friends have is Zambrano leaving via free agency. The Cubs and their fans would be ecstatic to wrap up Zambrano, no matter the price. With career .500 pitchers getting 10 and 11 million bucks per season, locking up Zambrano even at 19 or 20 million per would be cheered at Wrigley Field. Unlike the other divisions of TribCo, the Cubs make money hand over fist, and they can definitely absorb that kind of contract.
  2. I like this signing. Erstad can be a big help, both as an OF and a backup 1B. Solid move.
  3. I didn't see Raw last night - I've been laid up with some kind of virus the past couple days. I read the recap and it didn't seem like that great of a show, but if it was entertaining, that's good. I REALLY can do without this beyond-stupid Vince/Trump angle, though. Looks like Kevin Federline might be hired on as a full-time member of the WWE roster. I don't know what to make of this - as a part-time gimmicky thing, it was fine, but full time?
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 10:28 AM) Bam-Bam Bigelow died today. Again?? It was reported last Friday, and LCR posted it here that day, too.
  5. More roster cuts - say buh-bye to: Tatanka Bill "Hugh Morrus" DeMott and 7 developmental area guys I'd never heard of.
  6. AJ making SOLID contact with the chair on the back of Lance Hoyt on tonight's episode of Impact! and then autographing Hoyt's forehead!!!!
  7. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 06:12 PM) Only decent people they cut were Snow as a wrestler, Mamaluke who can put on some damn good matches... And add to the list the head writer of SmackDown! SmackDown writer Andrew Goldstein, second in command to Michael Hayes, has been fired. Goldstein was informed of his termination by WWE Human Resources, instead of by someone like Stephanie McMahon. On SmackDown, unlike on RAW and ECW, Michael Hayes dictates what he wants on the show, and then Goldstein would take all of that and put it together in a format that can be televised. Apparently, Goldstein was very popular backstage, always worked very hard, and was always a professional. However, considering that Michael Hayes has more of an 'old-school' state of mind, he often clashed with Goldstein. Hayes eventually got him fired and pushed him out the door. Backstage, many people are surprised and upset about this. If the replacement for Goldstein isn't someone who can take Hayes' dictations and format, then you could be seeing a dip in the show quality of SmackDown!. But on the hiring side -- they supposedly hired Ace Steel and Cassidy Riley. Gee, I hope they hire more soap opera and sitcom writers with absolutely NO history of watching wrestling...
  8. QUOTE(T R U @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) Man, I LOVED Jerichos debut.. the pop he got was amazing, still gives me chills when I watch it I was there that night, and it was great to see Jericho come out there and work his magic on the mic.
  9. Another round of cuts at Titan Tower today. Getting the pink slip: Al Snow (although he's likely to keep his trainer/road agent job) Gangrel Tony Marmaluke Basham Brothers The Gymini Sylvester Terkay "Mr and Mrs Jazz" (Jazz and Rodney Mack) C.W. Anderson Gotta clear up some cash to pay The Great Khali somewhere, I suppose....
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 07:07 AM) Aucoin is on IR now... I think that kills this deal, no? I think having him healthy and on the ice would do more to kill the deal...
  11. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 11:40 PM) I hate these sorts of domestic abous horror stories and I rarely click the links when prople post them here because I don't handle them too well. But I saw the thread title and had to click, saying to myself 'Don't be from Florida, Don't be from Florida. . . ' Yep. Florida. Not only that, he's being held in jail in my county. We do we get every whackjob and psychopath in the country? I don't know if you remember this, but Loveline used to have a sort of contest called "Germany or Florida?". Adam and Dr. Drew would read a story about some bizarre crime, almost always sexual in nature, and callers would have to guess if it took place in Germany or Florida. It was a funny bit, but it was kind of depressing in a way to hear about all the REALLY weird s*** going on out there. Oh, and this "husband" deserves anything that will happen to him in prison. The scumbag coward prick.
  12. That was one VERY good promo. Eric always could yap it up. I wouldn't mind seeing him on Raw in some capacity again.
  13. QUOTE(MinnesotaSoxFan @ Jan 17, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) So you think Taker wins the title over Batista...i disagree. That's cool. I just think Vince is in love with Taker's Mania streak, and IMO Batista's not the guy to bust it. If guys like Rock, Foley, Austin, Michaels and H didn't "get the torch" by ending Taker's WM run, I just doubt Batista does. Then again, Vince is quickly losing his mind, so anything's possible. Taker could say the wrong thing backstage and get jobbed out to Eugene.
  14. Taker seems logical to win the Rumble so he can main-event Mania. And if he does, I think he beats Batista.

  16. QUOTE(NUKE @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) Can someone please watch this youtube video and identify the title and artist of the song playing. I should know it but I cant seem to place it......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkW2BapoYKw Thanks. AFI - Girls Not Grey (I'm almost 100% of the song title, I am 100% sure it's AFI)
  17. QUOTE(NUKE @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 12:31 PM) I dont care if it's 1945 or 2007. Openly gay people serving was a bad plan then and its still a bad plan now. Openly gay soldiers are a distraction, their presence would undermine discipline and morale, and they themselves would be in danger ( Most soldiers dont exactly like gay people and despite any rules to "leave the gay guy alone" they would still be the victims of verbal and physical abuse ). Maybe the new strategy in Iraq should be "pretend the insurgents are all gay".
  18. I just don't think the 10-minute piece was enough. I thought they should have devoted an entire Outside The Lines program to this controversy. Only Bob Ley and the FULL research department of The Worldwide Leader can get to the bottom of this. [/green] [/second wave of nausea]
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) While I didn't see the Iron Man Match, I question the quality because 5 falls in 30 minutes kind of dilutes things. That is a fall every 6 minutes for these wrestling machines. I guess part of the way they did it was to have Joe tap twice to the ankle lock pretty quickly, which kind of makes sense in the context of the match. If he taps to the ankle lock, the ankle would logically be weakened. If Angle slaps it on again relatively quickly, the ankle would still be weakened and sore, so a second tap isn't unbelievable. I'd have to see the match to see if 5 falls in 30 minutes made sense, but in theory it could have.
  20. Thank God ESPN is FINALLY investigating this subject! Too much time has passed without us knowing WHO invented the Wave! Was it "Krazy George"? (By the way, if you spell Krazy with a K, it's that much Krazier!!!) Or was it Robb Weller of Entertainment Tonight infamy? (By the way, if you spell Rob with two B's, it's that much Robbier!!!) I can't tell who's telling the truth! Could it have been just some sort of KRAZY coincidence??? [/green] [/nausea]
  21. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 08:37 AM) Next PPV will be Angle vs. Christian. Was Iron Man Match any good? I read what happened all night and TNA is starting to resemble WWE in some aspects with stupid stuff going on. Hiring Vince Russo was a mistake! I didn't see it, I was at work. I read the recap and the Iron Man match seemed like it was really good. Angle vs. Christian promises to be excellent, even with the horrible Tomko lurking around to add his own particular brand of suck to things. I agree that anyone hiring Russo to script anything is a mistake, but it does seem that Jim Cornette is providing a counterbalance to Russo's juvenile stupidity. I shudder to think what TNA would be like if no one bucked up to Russo's dopey booking. We've seen it before too many times, and it's always sucked (even when Vince was supposedly filtering and editing Russo's ideas. I have to wonder if Vince was ever actually doing that, given the moronic ideas he's presenting on TV these days).
