  2. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) YEAH! That was me. I walked up and he was first at the table, I put my bag down and smiled and told him he was going to trip when I showed him what I was going to have him sign, He says "oh yeah?" and sits back very curious. I pulled out his game worn UCLA football jersey and he was shocked for a second and started laughing, asking me how the heck I got his jersey. I told him I tried it on and there was no way I could fit in it, how in the world did he fit in it? Everyone laughed, including Ryan Sweeney who checked out the jersey. A photographer came up to us and took pictures of Owens admiring his old jersey, Owens was really stoked to see that and signed it for me. The photog asked my name and how I got the jersey, laughing at the reaction Owens gave and stopping the line for a bit. I was hoping they'd use the pic, but they didnt The photog was obviously from the "Cubune".
  3. QUOTE(MarlinFan84 @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 02:48 PM) If it wasnt for the "Dee Dee Dee" thing Carlos Mencia might be funny. But that is just the most idiotic, unfunny phrase ever and the fact that it caught on and overused just takes away from any good value Mencia might have. Either way, George Lopez is still the funniest hispanic comedian anyway IMO. Agree 100%.
  4. I think juggling a young kid between positions could mess him up, but it all depends on the mental makeup of the kid. We'll see how he handles it if/when Crede leaves for free agency, I guess.
  5. The neutral site Super Bowl is one reason I don't care much about the NFL. I think it's a ripoff that you support your team all year, freeze your ass off during the playoffs, and if your team reaches its ultimate goal of the Super Bowl, you have to dish out 1000+ dollars and travel halfway across the country to be there. You play all year to be the best team and you get no home-field advantage for it. (Of course, baseball messed the home-field advantage thing up, too, for a meaningless exhibition game, but at least baseball fans get to see World Series games at home.) How huge would it be for the city to host the Super Bowl this week? Instead, Miami gets it for no good reason other than POSSIBLE (not guaranteed by any stretch) good weather. It's stupid.
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 11:06 PM) Agree 100%. If that streak was ever to end, it should be at the hands of a younger guy that is about to get a big time push. Not a guy nearing 40 who could get hurt any minute and miss 6 months. MISTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr KENNEDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..................................... . . . . . . ......................................KENNEDYYYYyyyy...................
  7. My three choices from that list would be: Garland - pitching is key, and Garland is young and good. AJ - catching is thin on the Sox farm and AJ is good enough, and provides some swagger. Crede - I think he'll stay healthy 9no basis for this opinion, just my gut feeling) and at least stay at the level he's reached already, which is plenty good enough for me. I don't want the Sox to let any of them leave, but that's not realistic.
  8. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jan 27, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) I actually liked the fake Kane angle. I don't know why, but, I thought they ended way too soon. The part that got on my nerves was the way Kane was all afraid of "MAY NINETEEEEEEEEEENTH!!!!!" when everyone knew from the commercials on their own show that May 19th was the release date for See No Evil. They SHOULD have had Kane be afraid of May 26th, when the movie would disappear from theatres forever.
  9. QUOTE(T R U @ Jan 27, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) His body has taken a beating for a while, hell he has been in WWE forever.. im sure most of you know he was Isaac Yankem back in the day And "Fake Diesel" as well.
  10. So Soxfest is off to a happy start, then?
  11. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 26, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) Still though, I like the Big Red Machine better than the current version of Kane. He is just plain now, despite sneering constantly and having cool pyrotechnics. When he had his mask on he had that Jason/Michael Myers sense about him. I agree, but I just think Vince botched his character up so badly that slapping the mask and wig back on him at this point won't have the same iMpact! (sorry, couldn't help myself ) that it might've before they: had him look all burnt at first and then slowly become "not burnt looking at all" done the hideously stupid "fake Kane May 19th" angle demoted him to SmackDown (even though it's been the better show lately, it IS still a demotion) It would just seem desperate to mask him up again at this point, and would also give unwarranted credibility to the mistake that is Montell Vhatever Porter. Maybe TNA is going to put a Kane mask on Sting after Jim Mitchell torched HIS face?
  12. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 26, 2007 -> 08:42 PM) Sooooo how many more shows until MVP burns Kane and he once again dons the mask as the Big Red Machine? 2 shows? Does it get past the Royal Rumble? That'll be SUCH A SHOCK if (meaning "when") it happens. WWE "creative" team Me I really hope TNA draws a mess of new viewers when they hold that Monday night special when the WWE is pre-empted by the dog show in February. Vince needs competition badly.
  13. QUOTE(T R U @ Jan 26, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) Haha, I didnt check this Wednesday and there was a new page when I checked last night.. I am not the biggest TNA fan so I dont really keep up with it however I was bored last night and figured I would watch some wrestling regardless of who it was.. Sadly, UFC was on instead.. but ill have to check it out Saturday Night then, whens it come on.. 12? I think it's on at 10 on Saturday nights, but I'm not 100% sure. It's worth looking for - even Konnan cut a nice promo. They used some mild visual effects on him to try to mask the 40 pounds he's lost since the hip surgery and kidney problems.
  14. People were scratching their heads about the Ozzie hire (no managerial experience, hothead, etc.) People were scratching their heads before 2005 (Podsednik was a career minor-leaguer, El Duque is 105 years old, "we" didn't get enough in return for Carlos Lee, etc.) People couldn't find much to scratch their heads about before 2006, except that the Sox traded away their heart and soul, the best CF ever in history, and bashed Frank on his way out the door. People will scratch their heads every year, because it's what fans do. There's always a trade "we" should have made or NOT have made, there's always a free agent who's better than the player "we" have at that position, that's what fills up the idle time of the offseason. I'm not going to worry about how the Sox look on paper. I'm just going to watch the games, because that's all I can do...............oh, and maybe I'll b**** about it a little bit here, too.............
  15. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Jan 25, 2007 -> 07:59 PM) Bonaduce - Yay or Nay? What say you? I just started listening to the archived podcasts of Corolla's show, and I think Danny is great with Adam. I think their styles mesh nicely, and it's been very interesting listening to them together. I like Opie and Anthony (although I don't get to listen very often because I'm at work during their show), but I think Adam's show is better.
  16. QUOTE(T R U @ Jan 25, 2007 -> 07:59 PM) I thought iMpact came on thursday nights? Just what I needed - more proof that no one reads my posts.... I posted on Wednesday afternoon that TNA was running iMpact! on a different night for one week only. Catch the replay if they show it on Saturday night, it was a good episode.
  17. I couldn't care less about football, and the Sox ended an 88-year title drought. Hmmmmmm.................this is a toughie..........
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 25, 2007 -> 05:51 PM) Bang, bang, bang, bang.... :insertpictureofawallhere ....but it feels so good when I stop....
  19. Another good episode of iMpact! last night. AJ masquerading as Raven to attack Rhino was good (and not having to watch Raven wobble around the ring made it that much better), Jim Mitchell's promo was VERY good, Christian is ALWAYS good. Even the Angle/Joe buildup was effective. The Eric Young skit was lame, the VKM stuff sucked as always (OOOOOOH, tease a split....barf), and the X Division match looked TOTALLY fake.
  20. The Rock & Roll Geek Show Blue Line Hockey Podcast as many clips from Jonesy's Jukebox as I can find
  21. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jan 25, 2007 -> 02:12 PM) yeah, but if Zambrano takes them to the Cleaners, 20Million 6 years ($120 Million) they would be weighted down by way way heavy contracts, with Soriano also Zambozo is DUE for an injury. Book it. Two things come to mind right away: 1. They're not going to see it as "being taken to the cleaners". They're going to see it (and rightly so, IMO) as keeping their best pitcher. Will he get injured? Who knows? Not me, not you. Will he stay as good as he's been? I don't see anything to make me think he won't. Is he worth it? Hell, is ANYONE worth it? He is if they think he is. 2. If the 300+ million they committed this winter didn't weigh them down, another 120 for their best pitcher won't either. Also remember that some of the shorter contracts will come off the books during any new deal they sign Zambrano to, so any fiscal pain they might feel would be short-term, and no matter what we think, their fanbase is NOT going to dwindle away to nothing any time soon. All it took to get the Blue Kool-Aid flowing full-force again was a bunch of mediocre pitchers, one good hitting free-agent and a new manager.
  22. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) I recently picked up a 'Queens Greatest Hits' CD and it's playing right now. This is probably the 5th time in my life that I really try to get into them, but just cannot. 'Bicycle Race'?? Are you kidding me?? What am I missing? Queen is one of those bands where their better stuff is GREAT, and their worse stuff is awful. Ignore Bicycle Race, Fat Bottomed Girls and stuff like that and listen to stuff like: Hammer To Fall A Kind Of Magic Stone Cold Crazy Tie Your Mother Down I Want It All Headlong Killer Queen Somebody To Love THAT is a Queen playlist I (and I'd think you as well) can get into!
  23. Dallas' public address announcer has the most f'd up voice for an announcer I've ever heard. He's downright embarrassing.
  24. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) God that thing was such a failure. Funny thing was, it was designed to put over Steve Williams who was supposed to walk through the competition. Then Billy Gunn knocked him out en route to winning the tournament. LOL That was hilarious! You could literally hear the dismay/shock in the announcer's voice (I believe it was Williams' good friend JR doing the announcing but I'm not 100% sure) when Gunn destroyed Dr. Death.
  25. Here's an interesting tidbit: The Wrestling-Observer Newsletter reports that some within TNA are looking to make the X-Division a legitimate sports competition. The proposal going around calls for TNA to turn the X-Division matches into "shoot" bouts with a time limit. At the end of the match, a panel of real judges would crown the winner based on who "best performed" in the contest. Obviously, there are a number of hurdles to implementing this idea; it presently remains at the talking phase. Does anyone remember the Brawl For All in the WWF? Vince staged legit boxing matches with his wrestlers, and in the best moment of the tournament, he added Butterbean, an actual pro boxer. Butterbean knocked Bart Gunn the f*** OUT!!!! Look it up on YouTube - I think Gunn is just now waking up. LOL This idea reminds me of that a little bit. I don't really want my staged fighting mixed with real fighting - I have UFC for the real stuff. Oh, and just a bit of spam - TNA iMpact! is on tonight at 9:00 PM Central instead of on Thursday, for this week only.
