QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) If we're talking about a nerdy girl, then umm yes. Otherwise no. Uhhhhh......Steff?......Soxy?......any FEEDBACK on this remark????

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) TMBG You have some taste afterall Saw them 3 times, actually liked them a lot less with the full band. To me, TMBG is John, John and a boombox. I don't like many "nerdy" bands, but I love TMBG.

Either "eng" or "ang", probably. Like the song by They Might Be Giants, "Ana Ng". I love that song....yeah, I'm a dork.....

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) They are the morning show for Q95 FM out of Indy. They have been voted morning show of the year many times over their time on the air. They are in syndication around the country, but never could catch on the in Chicago market in the couple of times they tried it. Here is their website, I think they stream their show on line, try giving them a listen. http://www.bobandtom.com/gen3/index.htm I heard some of their stuff a while back, and they didn't grab my attention. I enjoyed Phil Hendrie while he was on CKG, and I liked some of Opie & Anthony's guests, most notably Brian Regan.

The return of Johnny B will make the loss of Stern easier to take than if my choice for morning radio was Mike & Mike, Mancow or "Rover".
-
She was on Stern before she was famous as a NutriSystem girl or one of those weight-loss products, so weight has been an issue for her. I know she's not ugly or anything like that, but she is just not my type at all.

STRING THAT NO-GOOD TAX DODGER UP!!!! SEND HER AWAY FOR A GOOD LONG TIME, MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF HER!!!!! Doesn't she know what GOOD USE the government could make of that buck-sixteen???? What the story doesn't mention is if and how the state tried to collect the $1.16 from her before prosecuting. I assume they tried to, but she SAYS she didn't know about a tax being overdue until February. Given the f***tardery in every level of government, I don't find that all too difficult to believe. If they DID notify her when they should have, and in the proper ways, and she somehow refused to pay it, then yeah, she should go through the inconvenience/cost/penalties of defending herself. If they did NOT try to collect from her before prosecuting, then this court case is petty, stupid and wasteful.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 04:22 AM) The AP story has 3 to 12 weeks, while Rotoworld has 12 weeks. I think with Ruutu's back, and they've seen what it's done to Daze over his career, his time out will be closer to 12 than 3. No need to rush things with him and cause complications. Thanks man. Figures that the Hawks website would try to shine the most optimistic light on it that they could. Sucks for Tuomo and for the Hawks, obviously. This is something ( like you said with Daze ) that's going to follow Ruutu around for his entire career, most likely. If his back is f***ed up now, it's certainly not going to get any better as he gets older and plays more hockey. His physical style of play will also take a toll on him physically as he ages. It's too bad. -
They're not doing a White Sox "mock press conference" because championship teams don't generally need as much "former GM fixer-upper wizardry". This is nothing more than airtime filler to keep their baseball people occupied. Pedro Gomez will be filing reports each week from up Barry Bonds' ass, but everyone else needs something to do.

QUOTE(Drew @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Count me out of the Cub fan/Sox fan Holy War. It's stupid. From all sides. I never fire the first shot, but the trolls at work are always sorry when they do. I love to argue, I have a ton of excellent Sox celebration pictures to send them in emails, and now I have the ultimate debate-ender.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) See, what you do is you let her have the baby, find a good home for him/her, then shoot the mom and dump her body in a garbage dump. Simple solution really. I think I'd go with her own preferred method and let the little b**** starve to death, since she thinks that's OK to do to her own kid. Worthless waste of space.

I heard the last hour or so while I was out buying my brand-new, super-sweet, reversible, leather-sleeved Sox jacket! (.... to the jacket, by the way...) [/self-postjack] Johnny sounded real good - he seemed comfortable, except when everyone welcomed him back - he said more than once, "Can today be the end of the welcome back thing? Tomorrow, I'll already be back, OK?" But he said it in an appreciative way, if you know what I mean. Nice to have JB back.

Someone at WSI gave a pretty interesting fact. The 2.4 million attendance at USCF this year would have been the 12th highest season attendance total ever at Wrigley. So this whole "everyone goes to Wrigley" thing is not tradition, it's a very recent thing. Still, when the attendance thing came up last week I just told the troll, "YEP, numbers are fun! Here's my favorite number - 1908."

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) Friday i won 1,000 dollars playing pool in a tournament. Later that night i celebrate by drinking myself into oblivion. On like my 19th shot ( had other s*** in between) we walked to jewel to get some food. While there the dumbasses left me alone and i started eating a flower... some security guard/cop guy was like '' you gonna pay for that''. Right when he said that i threw the plant down and dirt flew every where. He chased us out of the store and we had to run back to the house which is only about a block away. That block felt like about a mile considering i couldn't stand straight and kept falling. Once we get back to the house i took several more shots. I went into the fridge and smacked myself in the face with the door and i am slightly brusied. After that went and layed down for a while. Starting throwing up all over myself and they dragged me into the washroom so that i didn't ruin any furniture. I was in the washroom for like an hour and a half i was told throwing up nonstop ( thankfully i ate before hand). They thought i was done so they tried to pick me up... i ended up throwing up on one of them and they dropped me from about three feet and my head now has a bump on it. After he dropped me he turned on the sink and the pipe cracked ( do not know why the hell or hw the hell this happened) but the fire department had to come to shut it off because it was flooding the first floor. But before the fire department came i was ont he front lawn for a while and some douches from inside the house took me to another friends house a few blocks down. They were pounding on the front door for a few minutes and no one would come to the door. They left me on his front f***ing lawn to die at 3-4 in the morning. My friend comes out a little later to smoke a cigarette and finds me... drags me in the house. Plops me on the couch and i slept for a few hours. I wake up because i had to piss/throw up... on my way to the washroom i walked into the pool table and stub my toes and hip/thigh. Have had a migrane for the past two days but my stomache is finally back intact. Only smart thing that happened this weekend is i took the 1,000 dollars back to my house before i drank. ....do you live in a Chris Farley movie?

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) Just got back from my first Hockey game since when I was in Kindergarten and one of my friends was playing in a youth league. The sport made a good impression on me tonight, I'll say. Well, the game is 100% better in person than on TV, that's for sure. That's always been the way people get hooked on it. There's just something different about seeing it in person. Glad you had a good time!

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) We also traded for Andy Hilbert of Boston, gave up a 6th rounder. He scored 79 points in the AHL last season. Could be another Bourque. Oh and Ruutu's out for 12 weeks. GULP. Where'd you get the 12 week estimate, DBAHO? The Hawks website says at least 3 weeks, but no surgery and no solid timetable for his return. The back is such a tricky injury, as Daze has shown. It just never seems to completely heal. Bad news for Ruutu and the Hawks. -
I can't think of anything I really miss, so I'll give my opinions on what YOU miss: Video Stores: Never a huge video kid, but the local video store was always cooler than what Cocksucker Video is now. I really wish I lived closer to Facets Multimedia, they have a ton of s*** I'd love to rent but it's not feasible. A Cell Phone-less World: Agree, but for a different reason - I hate the phone junkies who are yapping behind the wheel, in the grocery store, at CS Video, and everywhere in sight. Even worse when I catch an earful of the insipid s*** they're yapping about. Ugh. Cellphones are a great idea gone horribly wrong. Sunday Dinners: This was never a major production in my family. My dad worked a lot, so we'd eat without him most of the time. We're trying to establish some sort of dinnertime "tradition", but with the wife working weekends that's tough to do for us too. Mom and Pop Record Shops: Best Buy is to music shopping what Cocksucker Video is to video rental. Nothing I want in stock and everything I'd never want to buy splattered everywhere - on standalone racks in between aisles, on small racks at each end of the longer racks, aisles and aisles of nothing I want. I like Best Buy for other things - DVDs, recordable media, Walkmans ( Walkmen? ), etc. - but not for CDs. I loved Kroozin Music on Archer and there was this cooler-than-hell music store on 63rd Street way back when that carried all kinds of bootlegs. I picked up Kiss boots, Aerosmith, the Sex Pistols, all sorts of great s***. Not gonna find a Japanese Kiss bootleg LP at Best Buy, that's for goddamn sure. Magazines actually having a purpose: I still prefer reading a zine to reading articles online. I'll pick up a mag or two at the Tower near work every now and again, along with all the free rags like IE, Reader, NewCity, and so on.

It's impossible to want the next one as much as I wanted this one. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm actually satisfied. I want the Sox to be competitive, to be in the running, but I am so relieved and happy to have seen what just happened, that if they fall off a little bit I can't imagine being too down on them. Somehow in my mind, breaking an 88-year drought buys you a couple years of a "free pass". Fire on me if you wish, I don't care. The Sox gave me something my grandparents never had, so I'm okay for now.

Home Run Landing, eh? Might have been nice, judging on how well Fundamentals worked out. Ah well....

Mine was OK to good. Daughter slept over at her cousin's house on Friday night, and the wife and I went shopping for a new computer desk ( didn't find any that I liked ). Wife worked Saturday, so I got to sleep in on Saturday, which NEVER happens. So that was nice. Picked my little one up from my sister's house in the afternoon and after the Mrs. came home we went out for ribs. Yum. Came home and watched a little of The Ultimate Fighter finale ( decent welterweight final ) and then hit the sack. Today was pretty dull - went grocery shopping, did a s***load of laundry, vacuumed the carpets, crap like that. My brother and sister-in-law came over to give me their copy of Nero for the computer, so THAT rocked. Now I'm at work, which sucks ass. Tomorrow while the little one's at school I will be shopping again, this time for a new Sox jacket. My jacket is ratty as f*** and needs to be retired. There! That's my average-ass weekend in needless detail! You're welcome....

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) http://www.forgottenboys.com.br/ Brilliant band! If you like any of these bands: Faces, The Rolling Stones, MC5, Hellacopters, New York Dolls, The Heartbreakers, Jim Carroll, Tommy Rivers, Hanoi Rocks, Black Crowes, Supagroup, The Dragons, etc, etc, etc... You will LOVE these guys! They come from Brazil, and they are GREAT!!! On the site check out the video for "Just Done" in the Download folder. They give a few things to download, so you need to scan down a bit. VERY nice! Thanks!!

QUOTE(Cali @ Nov 6, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) I've been listening to a buttload of Alkaline Trio ("Good Mourning" and "Maybe I'll Catch Fire") and Glassjaw ("Everything You've Ever Wanted to Know About Silence" and "Worship & Tribute") as of late. Can't go wrong with Alk3. They've been living on my MusicMatch and in my CD player for a while now.
