QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 06:54 PM) As far as I'm concerned, work is cancelled. As far as my kids are concerned...if they can have the day off for something as stupid and pointless as Columbus Day, then they are being pulled from school tomorrow!!! I will be there, with the whole family. Where you gonna situate yourselves, Kid? I'm planning on being somewhere around Jackson or Adams, close enough to work to get back in an hour. But it might be a better idea for you guys to park it closer to the Chicago River near Wacker, where the rally will be.

QUOTE(alexgtp @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) does anyone really care what cubs fans are saying? ENJOY OUR WHITE SOX..because right now nothing else matters!! I am enjoying the squirming. When I walked into the conference room, they wouldn't say anything to me. Two days ago, I was told I was being cocky because I said I liked the Sox' chances. These guys have been on the "you can't win without the umpires" thing since the first "controversial" play, so yeah, I care a little bit about rubbing it in. I told them "I love umpires and roofs!"

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) Some idiot I work with wore a SOX Suck T-shirt to work today and he kept telling me Sox suck I told him he is entitled to his opinion but when he says that say World Champion White Sox. Most other Cub Fans congradulated me and said next year is there year. Yeah, that was the other running theme. "Last year the Red Sox, this year you guys.....NEXT YEAR....." I said, "Yeah, except LAST YEAR you said THIS was your year, you didn't put the Sox ahead of you then, so next year will be just like every other year.....meaning NOT yours!"

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) Richard is a pretty strong Catholic...right? I have a feeling that plays a part on the "no Sunday" thing. Please. I bet he went to the World Series game on the Sabbath. Plenty of time after church to have a celebration. I think it's more of a "do no work on taxpayer time" thing. His regime has a pretty good handle on that.

First Sox manager to win more than one playoff round.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) Well, it's Critics wife that will be at work...and he's so whipped he would tell her...I'm all tied up over the trick or treating thing. WHIPPED???? How DARE you!!! But seriously, after school she has a little party and then I'm taking her trick-or-treating, so schlepping her downtown and back in a big rush would be too much for both of us. It just seems easier to me to have the damn thing on Sunday, when more people would be able to take part in it.

Monday???? s***. On Halloween? Goddamnit. My wife works and I have to take my kid to and pick her up from school. What the f***.

Hopefully, this is not a repeat thread, but I didn't see it on pages 1 or 2, so: I just wanted to congratulate our right fielder for winning the World Series MVP award! Replacing Ordonez was difficult, the slow start had some people calling him Jermaine Dead or Princess Dye, but Jermaine stayed strong, came on as the season progressed and played a VERY valuable role in the White Sox success this year! While my MVP vote would have gone to Joe "Brooks Robinson Version 2.0" Crede, the beautiful thing about this team was that you could easily have made a solid case for any number of players. But JD is as deserving as anyone, so CONGRATS to him!!! Win......Cuz Dye Was Trying!!!!!! EDITED to say WHOOPS, I just saw the JD MVP thread on another page, please merge this one if you wish! Sorry about that!!!!

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Didnt he make a bet with Houstan like he did with Florida when the Cubs were facing them in the NLCS. I know if we lose they get all the good Chicago food and everything but I forgot what happens if we win.... Hell freezes over.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) how much were UC tickets going for? West Side of Chicago for a celebration? Ouch Tickets were 15 bucks each, with the money going to charity. I'll be home with the family.

So, did anyone place any pre-season wagers?

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) I bet a Cub fan friend of mine every year $10 a game for final record. I made $200. He bet me double or nothing for the ALDS. That's up to $400. He bet me double or nothing for the ALCS, now $800. Its the final double or nothing for the WS. One more White Sox victory, and I am not only a season ticketholder of the world champions, but I'll also be $1600 richer. THAT guy is an idiot. Talk about letting your heart kick your ass... -
Suffering Sox fan no more!!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) I'll back you on this one, Antonio. As a great philosopher once said, "It ain't over till it's over." Yeah, except for the "we have not won squat except for the division and the pennant", like that's nothing. Even if the unthinkable happens..............and at this point it would be a MONUMENTAL letdown..............I will still remember this team's successes...... OH WHO THE f*** AM I KIDDING?????? 4 losses in a row right now would be THE! WORST! THING! that would ever happen to any Chicago sports team! ....but that s*** simply ain't happenin'.... -
My favorite, the usual, you know it, you love it, can't get enough OF it.... The mighty Hacker-Pschorr!

Yep, stayed up. Already had today lined up as a vacation day ( because I was SUPPOSED to be in St. Louis last night....grrrrrrr.....).

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) Naa.. Flair,Anderson, Sting and Luger were better! ANY mention of the Horsemen without Arn and Tully is BLASPHEMOUS!! HOW DARE YOU!!!!!

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) The White Sox' 10-1 record thus far is a bit overinflated IMO 1) all of the teams they faced could not set their rotation 2) Colon was out for the CS, Rocket only lasted three innings, we didn't even face Schilling 3) All of the teams, overall, were among the weakest set of opponents an eventual recent WS winner would face in my opinion. None of these teams are the 2001 or 2003 Yankees, who would've taken us deep and probably beat this team in the CS. 1) too bad 2) get tougher players 3) gotta play who's in front of you, and the Red Cubs and Halos were no slouches. 4) good thing it's not 2001, when the Yanks lost to Arizona, or 2003 when they lost to Florida. Tough tough squad, indeed.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) The radio this morning said AJ should get the MVP for the Series. I say Crede, IF they win.....I still have to say that, until win #4 is in the books, but there are so many heroes they should award it to the entire team as a unit. Oh wait, there's a DIFFERENT trophy for the entire team.
-
That finger salute is a blatant ripoff of Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson and Tully Blanchard. WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I want to give LARGE kudos to AJ for working Oswalt last night. He must've been responsible for 20 pitches' worth of Roy "Munson" Oswalt's pitch count. Drew two walks, went deep in the count all the time. One more reason why I REALLY appreciate that guy, and I want the Sox to try damn hard to lock him up long-term. Anthony John

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) Lost in all of the plaudits that have been going Joe Crede and Paul Konerko's way, has been Juan Uribe's impact in the #9 hole. He had a strong finish to the season, and he's carried on with that momentum throughout the playoffs. Even though last night wasn't the best for him at all with those 2 errors in the field, he's got splits of .316/.395/.526 and that was after a 1 for 6 performance last night. And with a 6/5 K/BB ratio, that patience at the plate is really paying off. I wasn't a very big fan of his when he booted that grounder, though....and then he did that "downward snap" thing with his glove on the popup..... But he has had a pretty solid postseason, and he is about a 17,000% upgrade over the last starting SS. Anyone miss JosE6 now??
