Maybe in a week or so they can congratulate the World Champion White Sox. The Cubs front office is professional and cool to the Sox. Ozzie said Hendry called to congratulate the Sox on reaching the Series.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) Jon's our only starter that doesn't look lost up there, Cliff is the best hitter on the team this year so I'm sure he'll be used as a pinch hitter sometime this series. AND be next in line to play short....

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) So was 59.. So was the Joey/Danny reunion tour...

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) Oh I dont know, maybe because you picked the sox to win 75 games in the preseason, maybe because you picked the red sox to destroy our sox or maybe because you said "the angels are headed to the world series" you've been right on the mark all year about this group.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) The bulls and hawks play on fields. The Sox don't play on a court or ice either, so I went with home field, as in Home Field Advantage.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Interesting.... I might go, however I really dont want to give my money to $bill. The Drunk Andy Griffith strikes again!!! I don't think I'll go to the UC. It's not like the Bulls or Hawks, where that's their home field.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) KW finally did what I have wanted since 02..Congrats. No he didn't. He hasn't won it yet. He hasn;t won it every single year yet. right? He's done what I wanted. He's gotten the right mix of player to get the Sox into the playoffs, and they've advanced to the World Series with a very real chance to win it. From here on, it's fate, it's skill, it's luck, it's bounces, it's a whole bunch of s*** that's completely out of KW's hands.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) Oh, and as far as stealing music, I've read enough of these threads to know that you definitely wouldn't qualify. I'd agree that downloading music that is long out-of-print or unreleased is fine, but you and I both know that what people are pulling nowadays is incredibly f***ed up. They don't even think twice about it. This is very true. Although I have no problem taking a burned CD from a friend, especially if it was already unlikely that I'd ever buy it.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) Yeah, but you're more of a purist. I thought you said that most of the stuff you like is from the 70s? You wouldn't really qualify. I'm mostly jsut referring to the current state of rock. Just to clarify, I like a lot of Seattle-based grunge from teh early 90s, a little metal here and there, etc. I really like the Metallica "Garage Days" LP, but not much else. That's mostly just covers of stuff that you like, correct? Bread or something like that? No, not entirely. I like a lot of older stuff, but I'm always looking for new bands with a good sound. My recent favorite is The Generators. A nice hard punk sound a la Social Distortion. I dig around for a lot of unsigned bands, I get a lot of links from local bands I like and stuff I see on boards like Metal Sludge. So I definitely don't consider myself "stuck in the 70's" by any means. BREAD???? NO NO NO NO, OH GOD NO!!!!! Garage Days was okay, Metallica covered some stuff I like, like the Misfits, Thin Lizzy, The Anti-Nowhere League, stuff like that.

QUOTE(WISOX @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) Probably so but, I'd still like to know whether they're working on hitting. If I had to guess, I would say they are. I think it's a must to give the guys some cage time.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) I have it also, but they are not the largest of pictures. Trust me, the book is what I have been holding like a Teddy Bear during every single post season game. .....this one's too easy, even for me.....

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) Go ahead and call me an idiot, I don't mind DON'T DO IT, KID......IT'S A TRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!!

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Oh come on... you should know that by now. I know it....it's my mission to let everyone ELSE know it.....although I think it's fairly common knowledge by now......

I bet we see a lot of bunts, and a lot of whiffs.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) That's cool. While I'm not into pre-1966 jazz or any type of latin/brazillian fusion, I'd still have to say that you have good taste. A lot of the people in this forum listen to this talentless whiteboy crap that is completely devoid of any soul and is anything but timeless. Your typical Q101 setlist, basically. When y'all buy albums, do they come with a bottle of aspirin? Or do you have to purchase the aspirin separately when you download songs and put them onto your I-PODS? Or do you steal your aspirin just like you steal your music? Are you then surprised when your favorite crappy whiteboy bands disappear, mostly because they suck, but also because you contribute no funds to their cause? Ahh, life is just too funny sometimes. I don't steal music. I go to artist websites, record label sites like epitaph.com, and places like purevolume.com to find music. When a major label band releases something I like, I buy it. Ministry, Bad Religion, Megadeth and Rise Against being recent examples of purchases ( so you can see how often that happens ) When Y'ALL buy jazz albums, do they come with a bottle of No-Doze? Or do you have to purchase the No-Doze separately when you put on the ol' Victrola? ....just as funny, polite and accurate as your comment....

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) Damn...so I need to go out and get the Trib? Is it a paper cover or good stock? ....geek.....

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) Why not 1919? Because they were a total failure?
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) First off I know I am not liked around here becuase well I speak the truth.. With that said here is more of it.. Unless we win the series, the season is a failure.. Yeah Whoopie we made it, who cares.. Win the damn thing..yeah we have not been here in 45+ years. But, we are here win it and plan on next year to win it again. For those who think that it is okay to just be there.. You have accepted failure. Never Settle for anything less than a Championship.. With that Said.. Let win this thing... That is the truth to you, as it is your opinion. I don't agree with your opinion, so here is MY truth. It would be a disappointment in my mind for the Sox to lose the World Series, not a total failure. American League champions, wire-to-wire lead, best team in the league for the regular season. None of this spells failure to me. For those who think that the achievements that get you in position to achieve something greater are meaningless.....you are destined for disappointment/anger/resentment much more often than not. Life is not one large thing - life is a series of things that lead you to something larger. Learn it.....know it.....LIVE IT.....grasshopper......

QUOTE(easyw @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) As an old man - 36 - I've been avoiding all thing rock and anything with lyrics for a long time now. Call me lame, I prefer jazz like Miles Davis, and lots of Brazilian music. The only rock to turn my crank in the past few years is Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, though I also liked the new Cary Hudson, and I hear the new Nada Surf is good too... Beyond that, as far as new stuff in rock goes, the bone has pretty much been picked dry. I can't listen to much other than heavy rock or alternative music. Most other genres bore me to tears. and as an "older than you man" of 42 long, withering, tiring, achy years, I'm as surprised as anyone that my listening tastes haven't changed. Maybe I wouldn't feel so out-of-place at shows if I liked old people's music....

C'mon, now, play nice, you two.....don't MAKE me turn this car around.....

I agree with wite and 2k5, I think both sides want to keep Frank here and after the 3.5 buyout, an incentive-based deal works for everyone. I think Frank's market value is obviously down, and he seems to be appreciating what he has here in Chicago. I'm not sure he always did, but he does now.

I think it's called Swingin' From The Heels" by BigAss Juan and the Running Crabs.
-
Great story, average band, terrible song.

I think "we" ( meaning of course the White Sox, of whom I am not a member or employee ) could win the World Series, but I can't say "will" with 100% confidence. Houston's rotation is very solid, they have a good number of hitters who can come up big, and their bullpen is reliable, if a little thinner than the Sox pen. I like the Sox' chances a lot, though.

Ohhh, that article reminded me of the almost-trade for nooooooomaaaaaaaahhhhhhh. Thank everything that is holy THAT trade fell apart!!!!!
