QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) The batter's eye? Seems like our pitchers are getting rocked at home by any team with a decent lineup. Off the top of your head, can anybody remember the last series we won at home over a team that's above .500? Could it have been the Dodgers series in JUNE??? Is that even possible that it's been that long???

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 06:50 AM) So is it any coincendence that his replacement Bobby Jenks has two blown saves and a loss in his last 3 games??? Hmm... Low fastballs over the heart of the plate go a LONG way. Jenks has thrown too many fat, flat ones lately. He's doing a dead-on impression of Kyle Farnsworth. ( emphasis on "dead".... )

QUOTE(Darren @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) No Kool Aid drinkin' here bubba. The Sox are on one crappy looking skid, but the fact is their domination of the game early on still has them in a better position than anyone else in the AL. If they'd have lost a key player or something like in years past I could almost understand people wanting to throw themselves under a bus, but this is the same team that won all those games early. Baseball is a streaky game, they could win every game from here on out, that's why you play them all. When your April and May are chock full o' KC, Detroit and Tampa Bay games, that "early domination" is a bit deceiving. Add to that the fact that Cleveland was playing like s*** early and the deceptive dominance continued. And it's NOT the same team that won all those early games. They're the same players, but the performance and results are obviously nowhere near the same. Consider the injury to Podsednik and Thomas, the virtual disappearance of Carl Everett and the absolute mediocrity of the starting rotation minus Contreras since the All-Star break, and the Sox are right where they deserve to be. They're not as bad as they seem now, but they're not as good as they seemed early on. I've seen nothing from this offense that suggests they could win out. Can they? Sure, it's possible. Would I love to see it? Absolutely. Will it happen? HIGHLY unlikely.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) LMAO, I know how you feel. I was DESPERATELY hoping and wishing that she'd be just like her Mom. The LAST THING I wanted was to have to raise a miniature, female version of myself......God hates me.

QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) I just like how everyone threw out, at around the break, that there is still a possiblitiy to lose this if: Cleveland has a same second half as our first, and if we play .500 ball the rest of the way. Well I guess enough people said it enough times in july that it has actually happened. I would have never guessed something like that would happen but it did. Well, the way I remember that being said was like this: "IF WE JUST PLAY .500 BALL THE REST OF THE WAY, THEN THAT WOULD GIVE US ___ WINS AND NOBODY COULD CATCH THAT!!!!! WHOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!" That and "....if you had told me in March....." are the two least favorite things I've read here this year. If you had told me in March that we'd finish just TWO GAMES OUT.....wait for it.......

QUOTE(Commander Fisk @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 07:22 AM) I read somewhere that ESPN will be at the game Saturday to work on a documentary on our collapse, complete with interviews with fans. This may be a Cub fan joke, but I think a great story would be if we backed in as a wildcard and won World Series. That would give them something to write about. By the way, does anyone know where we stand in the wild card race? I'm a lonmg time viewer first time poster (mainly due to all the Konerko bashing on this site) but felt I had to post here because the Sox board has little discussion and lots of rambling, senseless arguements. Go Sox! And you expected a thread that mentions both ESPN and Cub fans to NOT become lots of rambling, senseless arguments????? I was wondering what it would take for the Sox to be the first MLB game covered on SportsCenter, and I finally found out this morning. NOW they're interested in how the Sox are doing...... :puke

My daughter just started ballet and tap lessons, she's in a soccer league and she is going to be in Girl Scouts soon. She is absolutely awesome, despite inheriting WAY too many of my personality traits.

Nothing I've seen lately supports your opinion, but it would be nice if you're right. I just don't see TB or KC winning more than 1 game each in their series, and after last night I don't know if the Sox can do better than split the Twins series. They had a chance to win a game that Santana started and they gacked. I'm more pessimistic than I've been at any time this month. I keep hoping for the Indians to run out of time, but the Sox HAVE to start helping themselves out. 4-10 is just SAD down the stretch.

Cleveland is here again, oh Lord, They hadn't mattered for a year or more, Now we got to hold on a little longer Rally Crede worked for one single day, Now its magic has gone away, And I'm postin' on this angry board OOOOH, the mood on the board keeps on turnin' Don't know how I'll feel tomorrow, Mood on the board keeps on turning I don't know, I don't know.... Timo's tryin' to make it home, Rounded third as the ball was thrown, I can't take this very much longer I'm stranded in the upper deck, Drunk and stupid and mad as heck, The Central lead is slippin', it's slippin' away The mood on the board keeps on turnin' Don't know how I'll feel tomorrow, Mood on the board keeps on turnin' No El Duque, El Duque NOOOOO -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) And where is the option for "Not this crap again"? You're a BIG SCARY POWERFUL MOD.....edit one in there........

Both sides got what they needed. Pods got hurt, Lee didn't. Where's the "neither" or "both" option?

Here's my thing - if I boo when he comes out to the mound, I'm most likely booing the pitcher he's bringing in or the pitcher he's taking out, and even then I'm not booing the guy, I'm booing the situation. I NEVER boo when his name is announced at the beginning of the game. I like Ozzie and I think he'd only get better with experience. But I really really REALLY hope he retires this offseason......because that would mean the Sox won the whole damn thing!!!

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 06:56 AM) Cleveland plays TB 3 more times, right...? Hopefully they'll help us out. Tampa is playing well right now. Lou won't let the team quit, even though HE already has himself. I just hope they can cool off the Injuns, and that KC keeps playing for pride like they have been.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) I do laugh at how much hype surrounded Bondo before the year. Don't get me wrong-he's a pretty amazing talent. It's just like the Arizona Cardinals being this years sexy pick. Predictors want players and teams go from carwling to running. I know what you're saying, but Bonderman is worth the hype. I think he's gonna be real good, if this elbow thing doesn't become chronic.

Well, so much for the Rally Crede. One game and done. Put it on the shelf next to Timo's Slumpbuster Panties. -

Remember the words of the immortal Scammy So-So: "Son tine eet 'appen, son tine eet DON' 'appen..." It's a 9 inning game, let's see what the Sox can do. No quit, Sox fans....NO QUIT! -
The rest of the Tiggers have quit, so why risk Bonderman if his elbow is sore? Good decision by Detroit management.
