QUOTE(Steff @ May 26, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) Me too. I don't know why I can't sleep. I'm not stressed.. I don't think I am overly tired (which I have heard makes some people restless). I eat right, I work out, I try to keep on a fairly normal schedule.. but I toss and turn relentlessly. And no matter what time I goto bed I am awake at 4:30 ish - which is good since I usually use that time to run.. but sucks when we're at the game or out the night before. Once in a blue moon I will take an afternoon nap on the weekends.. but that's pretty rare. For me, it's the fact that my schedule's all f***ed up. I work Sunday nights instead of Mondays, but then work days the rest of the week. So I sleep some on Monday morning, then try again on Monday night, which is always a disaster. Now I'm going to have softball games on Mondays, which will be an adventure of its own. Some days I start at 6:30 and some days at 5 am, and it's never consistent. Throw a 5-year-old into the mix, and the multitude of activities she's involved in, and my schedule is pretty stressed. She used to nap on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, so I'd grab a nap at the same time to kinda catch up. Now she doesn't like to nap anymore, so I wind up half-nodding out on the couch if we're not out running around. my schedule = :puke

4-6 per night. Clearly not enough, but so be it.

What Would Jesus Do? ...over-react, apparently...

I really enjoyed the Phoenix area when I went there a few years ago. I'd definitely consider living there someday. I'm getting seriously sick of the amount of people ( and by extension, the amount of mind-numbingly stupid people ) in the Chicagoland area.

The Wolves made short work of the Manitoba Moose, sweeping them in 4 games to advance to the Calder Cup Finals! They will face either Providence Bruins or Philadelphia Phantoms ( likely Philly, the Phantoms are up 3 to 1 in their series ). Go Get 'Em, Boys! Bring ANOTHER title home!!!

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) You know, if the Cubs got Guardado they would have Eddie and Jo Bo in the bullpen.

If you look closely you can see that Burnitz is clearly IN the weeds on the wall... ...I'd blow that up for an extreme closeup, but I'm too busy today.... They really should remove those baskets, maybe put up a little fence or something to keep the drunks from falling over the wall instead.

I have a feeling that if Perez did this to Konerko ( just reversing the position players for the sake of argument ), a lot of people here might have a slightly different opinion about the sportsmanship of that play. Things seem less offensive when your team benefits from it, that's just the nature of the way things are. I don't have a huge problem with what Uribe did, but it is kind of a cheap trick. Lee should have been looking to an ump or a coach, but I've seen players slow someone down on a foul ball as kind of a courtesy before, so I think it was a little cheap. I think the same thing about Paul speaking on the record about it - not a huge deal, but not really a good thing to go on the record with against a teammate.

That would be fine with me. I'll get to see him on the 30th in that case. And I'll get to cheer like a muthaf***a for Big Frank to welcome him back!!!

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ May 22, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) OH!!! You drinking with Maury? No, his old man...HAHAAAAAAAA!!! I'm just so goddamn sick of people throwing souvenirs back anyway, much less forcing their kid to dump one. It's pathetic. Deny the kid a chance to have a keepsake so the f***ing drunk-ass fratboy assbags don't yell at you....yeah, THAT's parenting.... :rolly -
Brandon McCarthy ML debut game thread vs Cubs

That stupid f***ing cow who told her kid to throw it back makes me want to vomit. "No, honey, you have to throw it back". Dumbass f***in' b****. -
Juan Uribe always seems high to me! He always has that goofy grin on his face, and blowing a bubble during a double play????? HAHAHA!!!!!

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 22, 2005 -> 07:28 AM) Golota is a complete clown, whether he lives in my neighborhood or not. When watching him fight, you can't help but get the feeling he is all about the money. I have yet to watch a Golota fight in which he showed any form of heart or perseverence. If I would have gotten up for some snacks, I would have missed the fight. I'm really suprised all the Pols at the UC didn't tear that joint down. As a boxing enthusiast from the city of Chicago, I was really disappointed in him. Put a fork in him. The only reason for anyone to rip up the UC would be storming the ticket windows to get their money back for that fraud Golota. If anything, at least that should be the last 150,000 bucks Golota ever receives ( I almost said "earns"...ooops.... ) from boxing.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 07:03 AM) I've been watching Prior pitch and he's been a lot like Wood. He throws a few meatballs early in the game before he has his great control. I've seen him get hit extremely hard this season but he usually managing to get out of trouble. I think the key is to tag him early. Agreed. When he finds his rhythm, he's hard to get to. I just hope Scott can get on base and cause a little trouble out there!

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 06:53 AM) Wow, Brewster is an egomaniac... http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/ne...tory?id=2065788 He's an interesting guy. In the post-fight interview, he went from caring, introspective and generous to self-absorbed and egomaniacal quite a few times. He started off by offering condolences to Larry Merchant for the loss of a family member, then he starts up with this unwarranted Ali-style boasting. He hasn't really beaten anyone of consequence, but he kicked the s*** out of Golota. In a side note, who came into the ring to congratulate Brewster after the fight? Riddick Bowe! He was probably thanking Brewster for gaining revenge for Bowe's balls!!! ( For those who may not know, Bowe and Golota fought twice in the past - Bowe was the champ and Golota was winning both fights but got disqualified twice for CONSTANTLY punching Bowe in the nutsack! )

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 22, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Big, Big difference. First off we're not screwing around with the rotation which manuel did. Most importantly the yankees were one of the best hitting teams in the league and the tigers were just plain awful so there was no doubt where neal should have made his debut. In this instance even without vlad the angels are still a better hitting team then the flubs, Brandon's got a pretty nice situation to get started with imo. I agree with all of this, but I'll add that Prior has actually been throwing well lately. He has the stuff to make life difficult for Sox hitters. But just as with Zambrano, if the Sox can keep 'em close and get into that crap bullpen of theirs, the game can be had for sure. GO GET 'EM, McCARTHY!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! Oh, THANK GOD my cousin and I decided not to go to the United Center for that s***!!!! Golota was falling around like a 4 AM drunk staggering out of the saloon!!!!

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 21, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) A Canadian who's being compared to Wayne Gretzky. The total package -- gritty, great hands, great shot. Easily the best player to come out since... (someone help me out here)... Eddie Shore? "PISS ON EDDIE SHORE!!!!"

Phil Rogers wants teams to bail out Cubs...
The Critic replied to SoxFan562004's topic in The Diamond Club
They'll probably end up with Jose Mesa, the Pirates seem to love trading with the Cubs. -
Just picked up Mindless Self Indulgence's "You'll Rebel To Anything". Some crazy-ass s*** going on here - hard rock based with squealy high-pitched vocals ( but not all the time, that's the Darkness's schtick ), lots of weird keyboards, turntables....it blends together in a very cool way. Also they have the most bizarre cover of Rush's "Tom Sawyer" that you will EVER hear, guaranteed!! They're coming to Metro on June 15th, and I'm seriously thinking about going.
-
Where it says "we digress", shouldn't that say "we disagree" about the Sox not having a devoted following? Minor nitpicking aside, that is a nice little note to Brooks. Good job.
-
Since these all seemed to be upper-deck seats, I have to ask.... Did the Cubs listen to Ozzie's "threat" and upgrade the seats for the Sox players' families, and then sell the seats they WANTED to give to the Sox???

QUOTE(BobDylan @ May 19, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Slow start? Good god. The White have won 30 games, that should say something about his slow start. The fact is Aaron Rowand is better than Corey Patterson, regardless. And I don't see why Patterson being a s***ty lead off hitter doesn't drop his rating. I'd bet a pretty penny Rowand could beat out Patterson in any spot in the line-up. And why doesn't Rowand get credit for being a 5-tool player? From what I've seen of the two players, Rowand has some nicer looking tools. It's not a story about which guy's team has a better record. It's about who's playing better right now, position by position. I agree that Rowand is better than Patterson, and I'd rather have Aaron on my team 7 days a week. But the fact is, Aaron got off to a slow start and that was reason enough for the writer of that article to place Patterson there instead. It's not a big deal at all.
