  1. Oh my goodness. It just won't end despite all the evidence to the contrary. Giolito's xFIP is 3.2 - the lowest of his career. Unless you think Giolito is suddenly a 22.7% HR/FB guy, Giolito has been absolutely fine. His LOB% is 10% below his career average, and is actually 3.5% lower than it was in the year where he was the worst pitcher in baseball. Sequencing has gotten him, and ONE BAD INNING vs the Red Sox has inflated the heck out of his numbers. Giolito is FINE.
  2. In fact, if you look at the graph his peak velocities have actually been UP over multiple starts last year and all April starts in April 2019.
  3. I posted his velocity chart. There is nothing off about Giolito's velocity. Compare April/May of 2019 vs 2021. They are nearly identical. His peak and bottom velocities are the same as well. If the Red Sox game HAD NOT happened (which frankly was a fluke combination of terrible command and a team just having a read on a pattern he had shown early), no one would be talking about how "bad" Giolito looks today. If LaRussa actually took him out when he was gassed, no one would be saying "three bad games" when reality is it was one. Giolito's problem right now is his command has gotten a little weary. It happens!
  4. The guy is good! I didnt even wait for it to be official, started looking it up right after he posted it assuming that was it
  5. Nothing at all crazy or alarming about 2021 here. Giolito has just had had command in this recent stretch and it's hurting him imo
  6. Jack you just said yourself his velocity is down .5! Mph. You may not remember it, but they happened. .5 MPH is absolutely nothing to worry about.
  7. I mean the evidence was his job title was literally GM. I like Hahn but this insistence on giving hahn credit for the very very little success he's had in his tenure and blaming the failures on everyone else is laughable. Kenny, as GM, WON more than hahn and everyone blames Kenny for failures. It's wild.
  8. Which is almost meaningless given that it's April (I guess technically may now).
  9. Giilito problem, which is being greatly overblown here as he's given up nothing, is that he's predictably a two pitch pitcher the first time though the order. He doesn't really work the slider in until the 2nd time through. People are just sitting on the change or fastball and waiting. Not too worried.
  10. Yeah, yas too. I think most werent sure robert would be this good offensively this year, so if Vaughn/abreu and yas get going a little they should be able to score. I dont trust engels bat at all so wont say relying on him. Great play Eat!
  11. If the starting pitching keeps dominating games they should be fine, the division is week and those guys keep them in all the games. Robert is such a tough loss though
  12. The good news, if there is any is engel will be back so they wont lose much defensively. They need vaughn to pick it up a bit offensively, and abreu, but if vaughn can get going maybe they can cover for the loss a bit.
  13. This isn't amateur sports. Fine him if you want to punish him for tardiness. I'm not a fan of this type of leadership. You are, in turn, punishing the rest of the team because Yermin was late.
  14. This is my problem as well. Yermin isn't going to play again until Friday! There was no need to get Lamb in there. This isn't college baseball, and I don't know about you but I don't get sent home from the office if I were late because we're adults and mistakes happen and you still have to do your job. Punishing the team and decreasing the likeliness of winning to "send a message" to a 28 year old man is amateurish at best.
  15. Elite man management, bro! Leury garcia has played 7 games in the past 7 days. Lol Meanwhile Vaughn, Yermin, and Madrigal have had 5 games off total. It gets dumber though because Tony was already wanting to play Jake Lamb today anyway because he can't have a game where at least two bench bats play, gotta keep them from getting stale while the starters have the texture of croutons because of how little they've played
  16. It's always funny to see you stan for larussa over and over again.
  17. If it had nothing to do with the lineup, then why isn't he playing?
  18. Leury Garcia has a career OPS vs righties of .626 in 1158 AB's, but yes... let's get the "lefty" out there.
  19. This is just nonsense. After today, Leury Garcia will have 62+ AB's while Nick Madrigal will have 76. The Sox have had TONS of days off recently. There is nothing more exhausting than this narrative that baseball players need tons of breaks. The best players might get 10-12 days off a year. That's two off days a month. Madrigal has sat twice this week. Also, guys are much more well rested in April than they are in September, and given how many off days the Sox have had it's just flat out laughable to argue that they need the rest. LaRussa thinks that Leury Garcia is good and he's an archaic dope who is obsessed with L/R match ups like it's 1995. That's what is happening here and it's complete nonsense. Consistently putting bad players on the field is not a strategy teams with "post season aspirations" do. Why would a young position player wear down? The Sox need to actually MAKE the playoffs before they prepare for them lol.
  20. Cleveland is still a divisional rival. I just can't stand this guy.
