That’s a Nicky Two Strikes Winner!!
And thats a fair point, and at the end of the day actual production is the only way you score runs, but I think its fair to acknowledge hes had quite a bit of bad batted ball luck.

they still shift him so... Also, thank you for pointing out the possibility that grandal may have never bunted right handed in his entire career before last night.

See, in that situation bunting would make a ton of sense. Man on third can score with outs being recorded or passed balls. Man on second, you still need a hit. There's an article in this thread posted by another poster who I'm not supposed to name that breaks that down pretty good lol.

I'm sure Tony is "open minded" to some analytics thinking. I don't want to say he's not at all willing to listen, but LaRussa is not the type of manager that is going to manage by a data book. Heck, even defensive positioning I think the White Sox have taken a step backwards from where they were last year - analytically speaking. It's his show.

Tony larussa was not using advanced team metrics there. Thats pretty obvious to me. How can you have advanced metrics on grandals ability to do something hes done twice in 950ish career games and 3500 PA's. And yes, Robert has an incredible chance of swiping a bag vs travino. We can agree to disagree on this. It was a boneheaded move that put the game in the hands of a lesser hitter and gave up an out despite robert being able to steal without doing. Nicky big stick bailed him out though like the machine he is!

Woh there buddy, no need for the name calling and capital letters. Have a great Sunday ?! Ps that article is about advancing a runner from 2nd to 3rd, not first to second, under the new extra innings rule. You might want to read the things you link.

Yeah, I domt buy this at all. Luis robert was on first base. Luis has a higher percentage of stealing second successfully than grandal has of putting down a sac bunt successfully. Larussa absolutely decreased their odds of scoring a run. It makes zero sense to sacrifice Luis robeert over to second base with Trevino catching an a reliever on the mound. Luis steals that base with ease. Yasmani has two sacrifices in his entire career. People always act like sac bunts never fail when they do quite often. I'm very well aware of a bunt increasing the odds of scoring one run in certain situations. Given the batters and situation here, this was not one of those situations. You should never sacrifice a runner of roberts elite skill from one base to the next.

Jason lives in your head 24/7. Stone being wrong is Jason's fault lol. Amazing stuff as always The odds of scoring a run in that situation given the batters decreased with the bunt. It certainly didn't increase by 10%. Youve got one of the five best base stealers in the game on first against a bad catcher and you think bunting is smart lol.. besides that, good post ha

Grandal xwOBA is the highest of his entire career. Having bad luck with your batted balls is hard for some fans to understand and accept

Lol what worked? The bunt didn't work. He took the bat out of the best hitter in the lineup, right now, hands and the following batter k'ed. Do you know what worked, means? Them scoring has nothing to do with how stupid and transparently bad that move was.

That 360 throw on the rocket was a thing of beauty

Giolito screwed me so bad this week. Unbelievable he's not starting tomorrow.

Madrigal.
Try reading better before making ignorant dunk posts, buddy.

That's not what I said Vulture and a guy getting one player a model misses doesn't make it better than a model. I actually acknowledge that scouts still get things right that models miss in my actual post which is why they still have value. But please make up stuff to justify your initial wrong post.

Was out to dinner for my anniversary so recorded the game. Just finished. Nick with an awesome game defensively and the huge hit. Great for nicky! Larussa is an absolute moron for bunting with grandal but at the same time nice defensive switch in the 7th, which I didn't love at the time. But that bunt is inexcusable

That’s a Chicago Yermins Win!!!!
The guy had 95 MiLB games where he was "raking" as an old for his league player. Yermin Mercedes got a chance from the Sox when no other teams were giving him one. If you think that's an indictment on the White Sox organization IDK what to tell you.

The Kopech is back thread
Not great. People are going to do this everywhere he goes. You can't throw things at fans. That'll lead to some issues.

That’s a Chicago Yermins Win!!!!
No one here gives a fuck about the padres. Jfc, why don't you and caufield go find a padres forum to babble on about. My goodness.
-
That’s a Chicago Yermins Win!!!!
This honestly has to be the worst take on soxtalk by far, that I hear repeated often. Yermim mercedes was let go from two teams. Any team in baseball could have had him multiple times. The sox were the team that picked him up AND the only team to give him a chance and that's an indictment on the organization. Brilliant take!

If you don't think sub zero is the GOAT, you don't deserve to watch MK.

Texas @ Sox
What does this mean? They will time you? The concern with Hendriks eventually as he ages is once his velocity ticks down how great can he be given the reliance on his fastball. That time clearly has not come this year. They have been trying to time his fastball for years, how's that been working out for teams? His fastball has been one of the most dominant pitches in baseball. They're not timing anything.
-
Texas @ Sox
Pal, you were in the game thread giving Tatis updates. It's OK if you just want to go be a Padres fan. You make excuses for the Padres failures while being hyper critical of the White Sox. I'm just trying to figure out which side you're on.
-
Texas @ Sox
I feel like some here have not watched how hendriks has dominated the past few years. His fastball is what makes him great. In his career his slider and curve are negative value pitches. Last year they were slightly positive and his fastball is elite. His fastball is what makes him great.

Texas @ Sox
Lol he just came into a game with 1st and 2nd 1 out that turned into 2nd and 3rd 1 out and k'ed two

Ron is literally trolling pal. This is his shtick
