  1. Yeah, I know his production has been good. Id never bet on him though.
  2. Yeah, huge downgrade. My goodness give this ignorance a rest.
  3. You expected a guy who has had one good year in his career at 30 and plays catcher, which historically aged poorly after 30, to get more than 4 years 4p million? I'm pretty shocked he locked up what he did.
  4. 4 years 43.5 million for James. Good for him. Now anyone who thinks the sox should of paid a back up catcher that money.... weird
  5. Cali i linked that thread and my one post in it about Dahl. You should probably stop putting words in my mouth; you've done it quite a bit.
  6. I was vehemently opposed to signing Dahl? I certainly wanted a proven player like Springer but I don't recall being vehemently opposed. This was the only post I made about Dahl on this forum. So no idea what you're talking about, you've got me confused with someone else.
  7. We're not talking about a 162 game season, Jack is talking about the ending standings. Jack implied, I assume because of their seed, that the sox got in due to expanded playoffs but thats actually wrong. Despite them having a seed outside the top 5 they would have been a playoff team under the previous playoff format. If he's doing what would happen over full season nonsense then thats even more nonsensical.
  8. Jack, you know this is wrong right? In a normal year the sox make the playoffs, they were actually hurt by the stupid new format where 2 teams from every division get in. They would be the second WC in a regular year. The central would have 3 playoff teams and the other two divisions 1 each.
  9. MLBNetwork laid off chris rose. What a joke. The MLB gets nothing right, ever. The best baseball show on TV by a mile and Rose was a huge reason for it. They keep the blowhard Chris Russo and lay off rose. Talk about being out of touch.
  10. Why is it that baseball - which is an outdoor game - is the only league crying the end of worlds is here and we need everyone else to subsidize our problems.
  11. I know Americans/people in general have a hard time seeing into the future which is why its difficult to tackle climate change when it is a dire problem, but things will return back to normal. Large crowd events will not go away. People take inherit risks everyday in life. 7k people die per day, 450 from accidents and etc, and as long as the death rates normalize (which already happened in October and September despite covid) and the media covers it responsibly, there's no reason why life should not return to normal sometime in the next 12 months. Edit ill add the image so people understand that covid has been bad and will likely add 100k+ excess deaths in 2020, there's no reason to believe that trend will continue into the future.
  12. This is true; I try my best to work with people though. I want to help people understand, even if they are a bit stubborn. As CWS noted in another thread, I'm married to a Colombian woman so I'm used to someone questioning everything I say 24/7. ? I was more frustrated at myself originally thinking I was explaining things wrong than I was at Vulture.
  13. Yeah, but there's a big difference between being guaranteed 100 million in a sport in which your career can be destroyed at any point and living comfortably and in wealth off his current wage. He's also already had TJ, already had his career take a horrible turn for the worst once - in which he had to reinvent himself to survive. I think Giolito likely understands how fragile this entire thing is; better than even the average professional athlete.
  14. This angle has always been a weird one to me. Just because your parents have money doesn't mean you want to be a grown man piggybacking off your parents wealth. Especially not elite athletes who have very high competitive drives; the last thing they want to do is live off their parents name or money. I think extensions have a lot more to do with your personal comfort or drive in the game; do you want to milk every dollar from the game as possible, or do you want to hedge a bit and guarantee that your main job/career sets you up for life. There's arguments to be made for both sides, but I really don't think someones parents wealth dictate extension talks.
  15. What? There's no agreeing to disagreeing, it's a fact. Agree to disagree involves opinions, not statistical facts. And sorry, I try not to allow inaccurate information involving my background to be spread online.
  16. He took lesser years to stay in St Louis though; maybe he changed his mind, but I'd be shocked. He has so much stuff going on in St Louis from a charity standpoint and that seems to be his passion now. Who knows though, you could be right.
  17. I think it's relatively known that Waino will either resign in St. Louis or retire but I could be wrong on that.
  18. Oh my, not this nonsense again today. He was, in fact, wrong. I honestly have a hard time understanding if I just explain things really poorly or if people are being intentionally dense. ? Now I know why ptac gets upset at people who question his thoughts on injuries.
  19. There are three measures done; route efficiency is just one of them and it's important. Sprint speed when tracking is also tracked; average speed is also tracked. If you slow you'll be docked naturally even if you have high route efficiency. Someone who is incredibly efficient in their routes can make up for a lack of elite speed, while someone with elite speed can make up for a lack of route efficiency. I'd argue most professional outfielders are turn and burners, but obviously their ability to pick the right spot varies. Outfielders who track through the duration of the ball path are considered to be fading to the ball which most all coaches will try to teach out of you in college and the pros.
  20. Because teammates aren't running around telling scouts that they hate their catcher and don't want to throw to him? Stone doesn't like Grandal's demeanor behind the dish; that much is very obvious. Stone is also a pitcher who has his own opinions on how catchers should be. He has a right to that opinion but projecting that onto the team is just wrong. Stone and Harold loved McCann; he seems like a nice guy and they relate to him. That love of McCann leads people to conclude things. That's fine, but this projection of their opinions onto the opinions of every player is just wrong. If you think there are 13 pitchers complaining to Stone and Harold about their teammate and starting catcher, we'll just agree to disagree. Outsiders divide clubhouses, players know this. It's literally exactly why Tim said "don't interview any other players" about Keuchel's quote.
