Couldn't disagree more. The problem with this assumption is it assumes they wouldn't win with dunning at anytime. Playoffs are a crap shoot. Goal is to get there as much as possible to Increase WS likelihood. 4 years of dunning as an ace gives you a better chance than 1 year of lynn being good.

When you say consistent, you mean bad right? Since 2015, he's had one season where he's graded out + defensively. Every other season he's been below average to bad. He's not an impact right fielder being a bad fielder and having no power. Adam Eaton hasn't been an average or above Major League player since 2016. Yeah, I think it would be really rare for a fellow union member to say don't pay that guy; especially when their boss asks them. I also don't think Timmy gives a shit about Adam Eaton, and Abreu likely isn't the kind of guy to blast anyone. Neither of those guys strike me as big drama queens.

97 appearances in 222 games is scary. Thats a ton of wear and tear; A's really got their money worth. Would be a fine signing but wish the resources were allocated to something more reliable than a late inning reliever. Hes awesome though if he can stay healthy and maintain his stuff which is always a concern for relievers.
