  1. I know it's not great for the Sox, but I hope Byron can stay healthy for a year. He is just an amazing player to watch and awesome for the game.
  2. I mean.. there's only 3-4 guys in baseball getting there and 2 of them play for the White Sox but agree that he acted like it was a legendary homer lol. That said he's calling them based on the same feed as us.
  3. Thank GOD for advanced Metrics. People praised guys like jim Edmonds for years. Luis won't make a ton of diving plays and etc because his reads and jumps are like Keirmeier/Buxton/Druw and etc. Those guys make great plays but they're not highlight reels because they make hard plays look so damn easy.
  4. a great play by yolmer and madrigal honestly; incredible speed getting both out of the glove.
  5. Damn, that was exactly why Yolmer has value and Jose blew it. What a turn by a 3rd baseman.
  6. he really never throws strikes lol. Since 2017 he has the 2nd lowest zone % (pitches thrown in the zone) in all of baseball. He throws 36.5% of his pitches for strikes. People just swing at them
  7. He was embarrassed last year and worked his tail off. There was a story about it with Vaughn following his lead and etc this off-season. I believe it. Guy is a hard worker.
  8. Danny has a very small edge over both, and to be honest might have a 2-3 year stretch where he starts somewhere mediocre, but in general he is a similar player. Danny has a bit more plate discipline and power in his game day bat. Gordon should have had more power but it never played up. Regardless, Yolmer is a really nice utility piece. He was cut from the Giants because they suck and didn't want to start an old guy. He will have a home on a contender for the next 3-4 years because he can defend. He may not get the invite until later in the year, but he'll be there at some point.
  9. if the sox move on from ee it will 100% to be to make room for Vaughn
  10. i love the way Luis plays the game. I really hope he breaks the narrative and the norm; that's what I love about baseball.... just when someone says you can't do something this way, someone comes around and says "hold my beer."
  11. I appreciate both your contributions to EE and Mazara's 4 +RBI 1 HR night combined.
  12. fair enough. him and Engel have a home on this roster imo. The offense doesn't need any help.
  13. He played 140 games last year and was a 1 fWAR player; which again, by definition is not a replacement level player.
  14. He's on a big league roster that is in first place. He's a big leaguer despite your decision and opinion that he's not.
  15. he was bad because he was asked to do something he shouldn't be asked to do; start. just as an FYI, Gordon Beckham is in his 10th year in the league. He can't hit. He is a utility guy who is solid everywhere and is only kind of bad as a hitter. Yolmer is an elite defender. He has accumulated 4.6 WAR in 2438 AB's. It is not good, but it is 100% a MLB player
  16. he won a gold glove and is a utility player but he's not a big leaguer. this is an absurd take. he was considered the best defensive 2nd baseman in baseball and it wasn't because of his bat carrying his legacy.
  17. Yolmer a great guy who brought a great attitude to work every single day when shit was awful. He was also an elite defender; that player has a home on this roster, and is a great addition and mix. The Sox don't need to worry about maximizing every single run in the 9th spot every night.
  18. bat path >>> barrel speed Yolmer still sucks at hitting. confirmed. I think the Sox know that EE's numbers aren't good; the reaction time is dead and he's inbetween on everything. Late on fastballs, but too quick on off-speed because he's cheating to get to the fastball, which is why we are hearing about Vaughn and his great results. The Sox are ready to move on but will respect the veteran a bit longer I imagine.
  19. He was a slightly below average fielder in RF which isn't an extremely weak defensive position. Mazara was fine in the field. He needs to start hitting the ball in the air. Jeeze.
  20. too small of a sample, but who knows honestly. if your identify/react time changes by .05 seconds you're done in baseball. Your strength, conditioning and bat speed can only save so much. if you dont get your barrel down fast enough, you're not going to maximize your barrel speed anyway.
  21. The Sox seem to have an ability to maximize the outputs from compact lefties. Buerhle, Danks, Quintana, and maybe even Keuchel who was falling out of his success a bit the past two years.
