  1. The makeup guy they dq'ed didnt have a questionable makeup.. they implied it was widely known and all his teammates hate him. I'd be shocked if that was abrams.
  2. Theres literally nothing historic about any Abrams tool. His speed? Puhleeze. Hes not faster than Buxton of Billy Hamilton or Engel for God sakes. Speed ages poorly. His hit tool grades plus for a high school kid but that means nothing at the next level. His numbers weren't off the charts this year. If Abrams doesnt tap into power, if his hit tool doesnt translate, if he doesnt stay at short stop, then he's not worth the pick. If any of those three happen, imo, he wasnt worth it. That's far too risky for me. I want two elite tools from a high school kid. Not one and one + tool. Especially when that other tool is by far the hardest tool to grade - in a HS even more so(the hit tool)
  3. I actually disagree. I think it's more likely this leaked from the analytical side (the hostetler/hahn) side to push back on Kenny's preference.
  4. That 60/60 you see from FG is present. That 70/80 you see from BP is FV. I think FGs FV is 65/60 on vaughn. I lean more towards BP's grades.
  5. I'll link when I'm home, but I read the 70/65 piece I believe from theringer. Sorry, its 65/60 and the point about vlad being only hitting prospect better graded is true. There are scouts that put Vaughn at 70/65.
  6. Priester falling has become a real possibility the past month+.
  7. Because he'd be mashing against kids his own age - proving maturity wasnt why.
  8. Regressing towards an xFIP really isnt a thing. Standardizing home runs against basically standardizes quality of contact against - which can vary pitcher to pitcher. Giolito could be a true 8% home run guy with his new stuff. Normalizing towards FIP is much more likely.
  9. The Mike Leake comps don't excite me too much - they also make a lot of sense. Leiter doesn't have elite stuff by any means but he throws everything for strikes and has three average pitches already. Leake was pretty much big league ready the day he was drafted but his ceiling just isn't there.
  10. Might have had something to do with the fact that moncada wasnt the worst player in baseball?
  11. Fletcher reminds me a lot of George Springer.
  12. I would be shocked if Witt was available and KC passed - even with Adley there.
  13. For anyone that wants tools and 5 of them to be exact... the Sox should take Vaughn one and then push fletcher up to their second round pick. Fletcher might have the highest ceiling in this draft in terms of 5 tools and he's likely much better than his draft slot due to reclassing and etc.
  14. He's the only prospect with a power grade of 70 and a hit tool over 60 (65). The only current prospect to have better grade was vlad at 70/70.
  15. Kc is going Witt if he's there. If vaugh or bledley go one, kc sticks with witt.
  16. People said the same thing about wieters.
  17. He's getting pounded away. Everything away. He'll adjust but he looks overmatched there as of right now.
  18. I think he belongs in the conversation. I'm not even sure I'd say Burrell was better than Ventura.
  19. You cant compare old bat stats vs new bat stats.
  20. He is one of the greatest college hitters ever.
  21. This draft is top heavy so not sure why you think that. You want a top 4 pick in this draft. For everyone who loves bishop - its another questionable hit tool power hitter. Love his athleticism but far too risky at 4 imo.
  22. You've spent the majority of your time playing devils advocate simply making things up - like Vaughn struggling vs good competition.
  23. Let me add that if the white Sox offense continues to progress, and Robert is a star and madrigal is a fine at 2nd then this team was better off spending money on pitching than hitting anyway - time will tell if they do that though.
  24. What is the point of you always stating this over and over? So far, machado hasnt been great by any means. It's not the ballpark, it's his offensive game - its had inconsistencies forever. What I find odd is even if machado ended up not being worth anywhere near 300 million, you'd still be here bad mouthing the Sox for missing out
