We all like the White Sox --- we're on a fan forum. You said you didn't understand the never-watches crowd and went on to say you love baseball so you watch every game. The Sox last year were an embarrassment to baseball. As I've gotten older, the value of my time becomes more important and wasting 3+ hours a day on an entertainment product that has spent zero effort in actually entertaining me is not ideal. I'm still incredibly active in my baseball viewing, but I'll watch teams who take the point of providing an entertaining product more seriously; and who have more respect for the game in general.

If you love professional baseball I have no idea how you watch every white sox game right now. They're offensive to the game. I watch games of teams that put an MLB product on the field. You love pain, not baseball.

Drury changed/overhauled his swing prior to the 2022 season. He went on to accrue 5.8 WAR over his next 263 games (2 seasons). Last year he was absolutely horrible and it's always possible he's washed, but he's been capable of being a 3 WAR player 2 of the last 3 years which carries a lot more weight than what he did at 23.

The Sox are going to be owned by Ishbia soon enough, there's zero reason not to roster your best 26. Problem for Colson is that very likely isn't him.

It's very white sox to have Colson make the team and sit 75% of the games.

This might be true, but he's not going to net much. He's a solid versatile player. Maybe he cliffed last year and he's through, but it was worth the gamble.

Drury is a solid big leaguer in my opinion. You might be able to steal 3 WAR from someone like Drury.

I'm confused about what I'm incorrect about. Nothing essential was confirmed, and Hayes basically just cited Greenbergs article - he had zero original reporting. I agree that he is purchasing the team, and never stated otherwise. We're all just reading tea leaves though and it has nothing to do with reading two articles that said nothing.

Two quotes from Hayes article that you consider "essential." "People with knowledge of the situation believe Ishbia’s deal with the White Sox comes with an eventual path to take a controlling interest from longtime owner Jerry Reinsdorf." "However, the White Sox issued a statement denying that the deal comes with provisions for Ishbia to take control." and the Greenberg article: "People with knowledge of the discussions believe that the deal will allow Ishbia to take control of the team at some point by buying the shares of longtime owner Jerry Reinsdorf and other partners. But a White Sox official on Friday night disputed that notion, even though it would be unusual for prospective owners to make significant investments for minority shares without the promise of their stakes growing larger." There was nothing essential stated in either article to help estimate a transition period.

I think it looks bad to other owners to potentially poach their buyer. I also don't think Jerry ever has to be closer to selling to give up control. I still find it hard to believe that ishbia wants to own 40-50+% of something while someone else tanks it into the ground. I always thought it would likely take a year or two, so I'll be optimistic and say one year.

If you're worse than the worst record of all time, you're still the worst of all time. It's impossible to be worse than the worst of all time. Don't think you're understanding by statement fully.

Based on the entire history of baseball, it is quite literally impossible to get worse than last year.

The suns were just in a conference finals. It's much easier to get "worse" than that.

He brought on elite talent who didn't mesh. If that's our problem here, OK. That would be way better than having the worst team in the sports history.

Ishbia doesn't strike me as someone who wants to hold the players down. He's buying a team to win and for fun. If anything, he'll want to act like a big market owner so I just don't see the benefit of having a small-market representation at the table.

I'm confused why any of you would want JR to deal with CBA negotiating for a team he's not going to run. I'd want the ownership group who will be running shop to be a part of the conversation. The White Sox have been abused by CBA agreements more than any other team. Jerry hasn't achieved anything.

Why? He would just be holding them for tax purposes.

Given that the limited partners deadline for sale is Friday, it's very unlikely (I'd say impossible, but don't want to be wrong!) that anything formal could/would be announced regarding a transition. One, MLB would have to approve of a sale and there's a lot of process to work through. Additionally, without commitment from limited partners until Friday you couldn't really formalize the rest of any agreements until after. I do think it's possible to get a better idea of the next steps based on the announcement/information released Friday though.

I'll say this, we get an Ishbia announcement on Friday and I'll buy a season ticket package that day.

The White Sox were the worst team of all time, completely devoid of position talent and upside, so we probably don't want to compare ourselves to anyone else.

Also, why would Ishbia want Jerry negotiating the future of the league for him?

Cohen is also very unique because most of that is straight cash. Horrible human being though. Justin is similar in that it's a lot of cash on hand as opposed to business value.
