  1. They're get two additional lotto tickets.
  2. No, but I didn't think he was one of the few (moncada to name one) who is actually capable of playing 3rd base while being a disaster at 2nd. Maybe he'll prove wrong, but given that law said no doubt he could handle second.... He makes Sosa look like Roberto alomar.
  3. If Vargas actually rakes, and not Michael Busch raking, then this trade can't be bad imo. Sox needed to fill at least 1 of 8. If Vargas actually does that, and not as a fringe big leaguer, this is a win. I'm smart enough to know I also have no absolute idea on how good a player can or will be, or whether a guy is a complete bust or not. Will he be Brandon wood or just another star who started a little slow? So all that said, go smash some baseballs miguel and make keith law look smarter than me and all of us.
  4. No offense to keith, but he's been the high man on vargas an wrote this just last year: (had him 23rd in baseball for prospects) now he’s a plus runner underway and there’s no doubt he could stay at third or handle second. Its very clear from actual mlb play that vargas cannot play 2nd or 3rd in the bigs.
  5. The problem with this is evaluations aren't stagnant, they're an evolving thing. Of course you'd have taken vargas for fedde 6 months ago. That's probably what Getz is thinking too lol. Thing is, in 6 months fedde has proven his success in Korea could translate to the US, and vargas showed he didn't have any versatility for a team that wanted it, and then his bat didn't play.
  6. Edit. Misread. I guess he's just calling one teenager a starter.
  7. No offense, but how do you "really" like a couple guys who have barely made it out of the Dominican Rookie ball? Based on what? They're lottery tickets. Plate discipline is the one stat that isn't even predictive as you move up levels either... with Vargas? Fine, I get his discipline and pitch selection is real. These kids strength right now isn't even a projectable skill at that level. I Remember Sox legend Benyamin Bailey with those great low level, hows he doin?
  8. Oh, based on how he told the story I big time disagree. Jerry probably lit him up when the crochet news broke, he went and told Jerry he talked to garrett night before and was honest and heard nothing. He blamed garett to Jerry, then went to the media to show Jerry how true it was.
  9. Also, don't let the Sox spin the narrative that they called him right up right away for him. As always, Sox lacked depth and had to turn to a draft pick to support the bullpen during a playoff run.
  10. this guy has eaten up all the jr bs, huh? garrett didn't owe him anything. He has nothing to do with Garrett's success. The Sox aren't a respected organization and they're not a trusted one either. He's not going to let you control his message while your leaking s%*# about him in trade talks.
  11. Thing is he's barely an upgrade though. It takes a non-mlb caliber player off their active roster which helps, but a soft hitting mif coming off wrist surgery is not a good thing imo.
  12. Dodgers probably think they can fix kopech and turn him into a back end arm. Agree its odd, but that makes more sense than them thinking Tommy edman is anything.
  13. The core problem with Vargas is that he HAS to hit to have any value at all. It's like 95% of the other sox players that Chris Getz said he didn't like. The best part of all this to me is that Fedde was worth nothing before the year. Getz did the right thing, took the gamble on fedde and it panned out.... then he just, gave all that work away.
  14. Not weird. Physicals, family notifications and admin stuff is always done before its announced by a team.
  15. Edman refused to be a white sox, even for just 5 seconds.
  16. Wait, are we being relegated and I missed the news?
  17. Edman is done. He will never be that player again. He was already light with the bat pre wrist surgery. Almost 30 and relies on his legs for value.
  18. For the record, the last young cuban the Dodgers gave up due to positional log jams was Yordan Alvarez. I just wanted to say one positive thing while I cry in the corner.
  19. Watch him play, and you'll understand why most are down on him.
  20. This trade is so bad that soxtalk is holding out hope that Bruce Levine is right and everyone else wrong. Things have really sunk deep.
  21. Chris Getz continues to target players who play the game like him. How can Vargas be a headliner? Unbelievable.
  22. This is honestly devastating as a fan. Sox give up three MLB pieces and somehow get back three minor league assets. They didn't get quantity or quality. This is honestly terrible.
