  1. One is a very good young shortstop, and the other is a very bad old 1st basemen. It doesn't change the conversation at all.
  2. Idk if you've noticed this, but the White Sox are not a good baseball team.
  3. I can't get down with saying Luis Robert has 50 homer potential, but a guy with best in baseball level exit velos doesn't.
  4. Those guys aren't worth 1 second of discussion.
  5. I mean, a gag reel of Trubisky throwing left went viral like a week ago.
  6. You're applying 2019 logic to 199whatever.
  7. He's in the top ten on fangraphs and bbref before this game even gets logged. You have pretty stringent definitions of ace.
  8. Giolito has now CGSO’d two of the three best lineups in baseball.
  9. Didn’t fangraphs put out an article explaining why the breaking down was the mirage
  10. This is where I'm at. Need to have a way out.

No, but that doesn't mean the team's performance is weighing on the decision. Boras is going to tell him where the money is, and he's going to listen.

If he think's he can get more money he's going to opt out. How the nationals play has nothing to do with it.
  13. Well see how it goes, but they've made such an effort to add analytically minded people throughout the minors recently that I find it hard to believe this flies.
  14. Was there any doubt he was getting a hold of one? He was all over every pitch he swung at.
  15. Bennetti shouting out @mlbrandomstats has gotta be so cool for that kid
  16. One of the Mets coaches and Ricky saying something like this literally days apart is laugh out loud funny
  17. Would have been opposed to a multi year deal then too.
  18. Nobody not named Ron hates Abreu.
  19. I want to be able to cut bait from a useless player as soon as possible, not be stuck with him multiple years like they would have been with LaRoche. Like they are with Wellington Castillo. Anything more than a year and I'm out. The actual salary I'm not so worried about. Jose's not quite useless, but he's getting there and very easily could completely crater at pretty much any time.
  20. I would just like to point out that Adam Laroche was a better player his last year in Washington than Jose has been in 2019
  21. Abreu is swinging less at pitches out of the zone and less pitches in general than when he was actually good.
  22. The only argument for it that I've seen is that players/coaches say it exists, therefore it does. But if it doesn't show up in the numbers, and it doesn't, who cares?
  23. 100% agree. Nelson Cruz hit substantially better in 2018 than abreu in 2019 and got 1 year 14 mil with an option. Granted he's older but not in any kind of meaningful way.
  24. Or just someone who's read up on the matter
  25. This is linked to the guy that allegedly put the hit out on Ortiz. Apparently used to launder money through ball players.
