I think Joc would be absolutely worth trading for IF we can extend him. He's one of the better obtainable fits out there.
-
Yankees are more than likely trading for at least one pitcher. I've been saying this for months but unless something really drastic changes they aren't going to be in the market for Rendon or Cole. They have a shit load of assets they actually NEED to trade since they did nothing at the deadline + injuries. People here and Sox fans in general keep shitting on the Sox in regard to signing the huge names but nobody is in a better position than us. I think we will be in it for Cole which almost nobody thinks we will be. That is a franchise changing talent who will be still dominant during our contention years. If Hahn and Kenny fuck this up again (Not necessarily about Cole, just in general) I'll be getting kicked out of SoxFest this year.

They have some money coming off in 2021 that would offset all of the arb increases. I would be fine with 140-150 since we were in the 90 millions in 2019. I don't think adding 50 million of payroll in a year they should be competitive is crazy. That should be minimum.
-
I don't think we get Grandal since we have Collins and McCann. I just don't think he'll be looked at as a priority and it will free up money for areas of need.
-
Looks reasonable to me. Their payroll should hopefully be around 140-150 million after this off season. I don't know what our long term solution in RF is going to be though. If they go stop gap I think Calhoun is fine, just not a sexy aquisition. I am hoping they trade for a RF if they don't sign Castellanos.
-
I agree. There is no reason why we should be signing 38 year olds.

I said it's not sustainable or did you not read that part before going on your usual passive aggressive posting? He had a great career year but if you quoted me to argue about semantics than you are wasting your time. He's a career .276 hitter.
-
I think he will be in the 7 spot if we get JDM or legit DH and a power hitting RF which is a good problem to have. Tim is a ~25 HR guy that relied heavily on his hit tool this year. The problem with him if you want it call it that, is he is not a .335 hitter. He walked 15x all year in 500+ PAs to slash 335/357/508. He has a hyper aggressive approach that makes him look silly at the plate at times because he swings at everything. I know some on here are going to look at this like I'm talking shit about Tim but I'm not. He has to refine his approach and take his walks when they are available because what he did this year is not anywhere close to sustainable. I didn't look at his BABIP but I'm sure it's also extremely high. It was great to see him break out with his bat but he isn't a .300 hitter, IMO. He has the ability to be a 5.5-6 WAR player if he can get on base more and fix his defense. I also think he has more power potential but that approach has to be tweeked before he can tap into it. I love Tim and I think he's a great player but he can be a lot better going forward. Edit: Yeah is BABIP was .399. with a ~.360 wOBA.

The Dad's are already going to be close to 100 million after arb and they have holes to fill as well. I just don't see it. They have a couple non tender candidates I guess but that would only shave off a couple million.
-
Yeah, but Hosmer and Machado being a Padre means there is no chance Cole is a Padre.

I wouldn't touch Keuchel tbh. He's going to want a 3 or 4 year deal and he's been trending down for a couple years.
-
My Dad is President of Nintendo and he says Cole to Sox.

Lineup construction is always fun especially when you don't know what your team will look like. Robert Yo JDM Eloy Joc Abreu Tim McCann Madrigal
-
I see him as a 9 man. I want Robert leading off a la Springer and Acuna.
-
He probably opts out and gets a new deal with Washington.
-
And MN also benefitted from the sack on Cousins last year by Matthews that was called Roughing. We can do this all night. There are shit calls in every game.
-
The Packers had one of the worst calls against them in NFL history against the Seahawks a few years back. GB absolutely benefitted from calls tonight but they get as many shit calls against them as any other team.
-
We have a plethora of youngish OF's. Robert and Eloy are here to stay so I don't mind trading away any of the ones we have in the minors for an upgrade now. Im not huge on handedness when their are better players available tbh but guys like Dickerson do absolutely nothing for me as a starting RF. I just think if you can get Pederson for anybody not named Vaughn or Steiver that will be in the minors next year you do it.
-
I'd really hope they check in on Joc again. That would solve 2 big issues and I don't think he would be that hard to extend. I don't know what the Doyers would be asking for though obviously.
-
Literally nobody did that. They were basically a lock for the AL Central. The Twins were fringey pre-season. Edit: The only knock on the Indians coming in was they didn't do enough to fix their OF situation. But pretty much every analyst that wasn't being edgy had them walking away with the Central.

White Sox payroll is 50 million after arb. Cole 33-35/Yr JDM 25/Yr Castellanos 16/Yr Odorizzi 15/Yr That's around 150 million after they re-sign Abreu. I don't think 150 is a crazy number when they have been sitting on money for years while rebuilding. 13 million above league average in 2019. JDM and Abreu are off the books when it's time to extend Yo and Gio.

All they would be doing is moving the Machado money they didn't spend. We'll see, the mouth pieces are already saying we don't need Cole which tells me they won't make a real offer.
