A Realistic Offseason
No Kuechel. They don't need two FA SP on multi year deals.
-
Castellanos
Castellanos could DH next year and play RF if one of those guys eventually break out. He shouldn't be that expensive. Grandal is fun and everything but he really isn't a need.
-
Castellanos
I think it had to do more with getting out of that giant fucking park + the trade. He OPS'd over 1000 with the Cubs. I don't think it is unrealistic at all to see him consistently in the lower 900's at GRF.

Castellanos
They need a RF pretty bad. After SP that is our biggest need.
-
Castellanos
I really want him on this team.

Zack Wheeler Thread
Yea, I'm one of the ones that want Teheran but only on a 1 year to supplement the rotation until Kopech is back. I wouldn't want him for anything more than that.

Tonight's game showed why Abreu can't be our 1st baseman
Nice post Ron, I agree and hope they give Jose just a QO.

I don't understand why the same people clamoring for Betts as an option, who will probably be 100 million dollars more than Cole, think the Sox have 0 shot at Cole but should stop gap RF in 2020 for Betts. - Yes it's a run on sentence. It does not make any sense. I get injury and muH DaVid PriCe and all that. Fair argument. But Cole is THE best pitcher in baseball and would arguably be much more valuable to this team than Mookie. I'll hang up.

Thats light on pitching and Dickerson is a non-starter for me personally. Ryu is too big of a health risk to give anything more than a 2 year deal imo. He's awesome when he's on the mound, he just isn't very often.

Because we were rebuilding and it didn't matter. It actually really fucking matters now who is on the roster.

Keuchel has been trending down for 2 years. I wouldn't want anything to do with him.
-
A Realistic Offseason
Yeah, there is a 0% chance Kiley has any idea what the Sox are going to be doing. None of these people have any idea what they will be doing. For them to only be looking for 1-2 year deals is absurd.

This thread is an abortion.

Angels decline $14 million option on Kole Calhoun

A Realistic Offseason
Jesus Christ. Dude they played with a 90 million dollar payroll last year in a rebuild year. That payroll could have been in the 120's in a rebuild year if they ended up with Machado or Harper. Based on that, it's pretty safe to assume they aren't going to play 2020 with a Miami Marlins payroll.

He was worth 2.8 WAR last year and 3 in 2018.
-
A Realistic Offseason
Now THAT is a hot take ?

A Realistic Offseason
But he can't hit and doesn't have a position. He had a .718 OPS last year. We literally just went through this in 2019 at the DH spot that was something historically bad at like -3.5 WAR or whatever it was. He makes no sense. Some team that actually needs a SS will sign him anyways.

A Realistic Offseason
That has nothing to do with why he didn't opt out. He didn't opt out because there were like 4 teams that could have used him, including the White Sox, which would have suppressed his market. He didn't want to lose out on 60+ guarenteed. DJL had a starting spot at 2B. Didi does not have a starting spot and would still get ~10 million a year for a handful of at bats. He makes no sense for the Sox. He does not hit near well enough to be taken seriously as a DH.
-
A Realistic Offseason
Where is he getting at bats? Tim Anderson is on the team and Madrigal will be up after 20 or so games. The Sox aren't going to give him 10 million a year to spell Tim and have 300 ABs. He's started 7 games at 2nd and that was in 2014.
-
A Realistic Offseason
Yeah, he doesn't even make sense positionally aside from the hitting.

Eloy snubbed for ROY final 3...
He was worth more WAR I guess. He also played I think 40 something games in 2018. He just missed the cut off based on games played that year.
-
JDM staying in Boston
There were only like 4 maybe 5 teams that would have a need for him as a FA. Even less when you start talking about what is essentially a 1 year deal. Sox and Rangers would make sense but you would eliminate teams like the Mariners and Blue Jays.

A Realistic Offseason
Brewers need pitching pretty bad and have a couple other positional needs. I don't think they are realistic with how much his price will be driven up.
-
A Realistic Offseason
Yeah but they really don't have any payroll flexibility.
