Moncada is buddies with Castillo now. Moncada had a bad season last year but has been amazing this year. But what about all those nagging injuries this year? He must be juicing too!

I still don’t see any advantage to extending him. Pay him his arbitration money and reassess when he is a free agent. He’s not going to become some stud that is so good that you can’t afford him at 30 years old. But the risk of him tanking hard next season is much greater than any money you would save extending him now.

That’s great but do you trust Strasburg to stay healthy or Bumgarner’s stuff to not decline further? A young team like the Sox should be looking to stay young, not get older. Hence, why Machado and Harper would have been great signings. I’d rather have Cole. Younger and still has his stuff.

Keep in mind you are choosing two 30 year old starting pitchers over a 26 year old infielder, one with an injury history and one with declining stuff. I’m not so sure your decision would be the correct one.

I can’t argue with you here. It makes zero sense. When guys like Yermin and Mendick are already older to begin with, what does their service time matter? And that’s honestly the only reason to keep them down at this point. It makes no sense. Why would you give guys with no Sox future like Goins and Skole playing time instead of evaluating Yermin and Mendick?
