  1. Count me in. Quality starter for 15M.
  2. Time will tell if it was a smart move by JR or not. We will see.
  3. I'm with you. Once we have all the pitching we think we need...get some more.
  4. Tony was not my first choice but he knows how to manage what is going on in the field. Some players need a tough manager and others need a pat on the butt. This move should be judged after we see the staff assembled. Many times the coaches need to be the buddies while the manager is the decision maker that decides if your playing in today's game. Many of us like Eloy's happy go lucky nature but feel he needs to get his head in the game. Earl Weaver, Billy Martin, Dick Williams, Joe Girardi were all hard nose managers that knew how to win. Tony with 6 pennants and 3 World Series titles probably will do just fine.
  5. I have really come to hate these home run or bust players. We watch this EEk type player do absolutely nothing in 3 out of 4 games.
  6. At least he won't prevent us from getting there.
  7. Certainly do hope so...manager in waiting. An analytical bench coach should help TL and be mentored under a HOF manager seems fairly smart.
  8. Your official order is the way I had it as well. I am not nearly as despondent as most here. Any of the 3 would have been a major upgrade IMO.
  9. Probably has more to do with being kind to RR.
  10. I don't care how old Tony is...he can fill out a lineup card better than RR.
  11. When I called my Cubs fan friends to congratulate them after they won the WS.
  12. Yeah...it would sure be nice to have enough self-respect to walk away from one of only 30 dream jobs paying 7 figure salaries in your hometown. Those bosses can get so bossy every thirty years or so.?
  13. Anyone who works for someone else isn't fully in charge. Wherever RH would go... he still has a boss. JR gives as much space as anyone but he does own the team and still, he reports to a board. Life is full of those little irritations.
  14. Hahn might have been the guy who brought up Tony as a couple of year bridge to Jirschele for what any of us know. Anxious to hear about bench coach/3rd base coach/ pitching coach. Tony knows everyone in the game so there should be some interesting names.
  15. I get a kick out of the forum members who think the owner should keep his nose out of WS hiring decisions. However, those of us in the cheap seats think our views are spot on. If I owned my favorite team...I'm pretty sure I would sit in on those think tank sessions and probably feel my ownership gave me a right to speak up.
  16. This is what I am anxious to hear about. Tony has always put good people around him IMO. Although he wouldn't have been my first choice...he is after all a HOF manager.
  17. Give me D) Bochy=quality manager with no baggage
