Tony La Russa named Manager
Wish we could have had Martin. Billy was the best one-season manager ever. He always wore out his welcome but for that one year, he was the best IMO.

Tony La Russa named Manager
As a 75-year-old WS fan let me just say...you've ruined my whole day.

Tony La Russa named Manager
I too watched LaRussa his entire WS managerial stint and was glad to see him go. Continuous slowing up the game as he stopped the game to have an outfielder move over 2 or 3 yards or go out to discuss some fine point with the umps. The thought I had at the time was he liked to "over manage." In most people's eyes, he became a fine manager but I for one never second-guessed the decision to release him.

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
Around and around it goes and where it stops...nobody knows.

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
I feel you are being deliberately obtuse.

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
Are there any .150 hitters who add "big-time value?"

Trevor Bauer Thread (Mazara Free Zone)
Bauer reminds me of Chris Sale in his cut up the uniform type moments. I loved Chris on the mound but his off-field judgement was not always the best. Some of these so-called stars abuse their celebrity with childish tantrums not tolerated from the average player. I would like seeing Bauer in a WS uniform but I hope he is learning to control himself.

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
Yeah...there are really lots of .330 hitters who are lousy hitters.?

Tony La Russa named Manager
Bochy is perfect for our team. Comes with a ton of credibility and would attract top-tier coaches as well.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Bochy said he was ready to listen. Hope they give him a long look. Very well respected with more managerial experience than just about anybody. At 65 he's not a kid but I'll bet he would listen to a 3-year plan. Let Jirschele be his bench coach and learn from a pro. Old school sitting next to analytics. Sign me up.

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
I agree with you. Don't ask players to pick the boss. Some of the best managers in history were in your face guys who were not trying to buddy up with the players. We all have credited RR with his friendly clubhouse, etc. Maybe a stronger hand will get better results.

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
I wish there was a way to get Alomar's boss (Francona).

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
It was implied.

The qualifiers that RH stated eliminate just about everyone not named Cora or Hinch. Who are the available managers with recent postseason success? My first choice would have been Jirschele but he was already eliminated by the RH remarks. I think we better get comfortable with Hinch.

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
Winning franchises are worth more than losers. JR knows it's time to prepare his teams to attract top dollar for his investors and heirs.

I was trying to agree with you. I don't doubt that AJ Pierzynski would be a really fun manager for us.
-
Tony La Russa named Manager
Doesn't fit with what RH said but I wish the other AJ would be considered. He is a very smart baseball guy who really wants to win.

Tony La Russa named Manager
He would be great but his new contract ties him up for 4 or 5 years. Managers can be bought out I guess but unlikely in this case. Definitely the right type though.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Yeah...he was crusty. Probably why I like him.

I liked Lamont. Really nice guy. Leland and Tanner were also very good baseball people. All of them knew how to fill out a lineup card. Billy Martin was the best one year manager but always wore out his welcome. I would like to have an old school manager who gets mad on occasion.

Tony La Russa named Manager
JR always said letting Hawk fire Larussa was his biggest regret. Normally I would agree that Tony is past his prime...but with JR he might want to correct what he considers a mistake. Hope not!

Wow...is Dave Duncan coming with him?

We live in a society that believes in 2nd chances after one has paid his debt to society.

Yeah...I am sure Soxtalk will give whoever it is a good week or 10 days before they can't take it any longer.?

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
It seems that many established managers have their pitching coach who follows them from job to job. They don't leave it to chance that they can work well together.
