You and I just don't seem to understand how much fun talking about negatives can be. This team was picked to win the Central in 22' and for the underperformance of a great many players and the injuries/illnesses of other...we sucked. I think West Eddy and I choose to think the glass is not as empty as most here feel. It's boring to keep up the JR is cheap daily b**** and moan. We have a new GM with a stated objective of how he intends to proceed. So far, I like the moves Getz has made and like that he is taking his time to find the right pieces. Getting rid of the coaches that don't fit his plan and the hiring of Bannister, etc. are very hopeful things.

Graveman, Kelly, Grandal, Anderson, Bummer were beyond terrible. That's 20% of the core.

Also, when a bullpen sucks the manager looks like an idiot. Good bullpens make managers look like geniuses. For the most part all managers know the x's and o's. Pedro may well have kept his job because insiders are aware of cancers in the clubhouse that were outside of a manager's ability to control.

Let's not forget the most expensive bullpen in baseball that was a complete disaster. I feel we have improved greatly by the removal of about 6 or 7 total bombs.

Apparently, we were not as good as people thought. Likewise, I don't think we will be as bad as people think.

The market said the same for Sale and Quintana until it didn't.

I want the two best players I can get. The add-on's aren't important to me. Quality not quantity.

Yes...with someone in my living room. Getz will get most of what he wants with a bit of patience. This talk of asking too much accompanies virtually every negotiation for a high-priced piece. Cease is a valuable trade chip and no amount of negating that will change the fact that someone will pay the price.

Nope...I do like players that can hit to all fields and are good with a glove. Those hitters need to hit around .300 and have an OBP around .340 or so. This guy hit .212 in a short trial. If it's ok with you I will do my own evaluations on the players I like.

Over the years it seems the team receiving the most players loses the trade in hindsight. I'll take quality over quantity every time. These 5 for 1 deals make me cringe. I want the two best players Getz can get...and one of them should be starting in right field for the 2024 team.
