  1. Cardinals are 1 game back of the Cubs. This is how overpays happen. When a team has a legitimate chance to win a division...they feel a little more inclined to not let it go without a fight.
  2. Never bet against the Sox.
  3. You have to admit...Alonso is overdue for a monster game.
  4. An excellent suggestion!

That's why we should just keep him. He is pitching fine again but probably to late to get back anything of value. Although, you never know...it only takes one desperate buyer.
  6. The All Star Game has very little relevance for me. A popularity contest that favors the large market teams.

I wonder if he knows of this boards skills in this regard?

Anyone can be flipped if the price is right. None of these first four guys should be dumped for salary or token prospects. I believe Herrera was hurt for awhile and the others will just be replaced with same or lesser guys. Bummer is off limits short of something unbelievable developing. Hahn is good at getting overpaid when he has something to sell so I'll trust him on this.
  9. Dodgers have a lot of depth in the outfield. I wonder if Alex Verdugo could be had.
  10. He is deserving of the honor.
  11. Nice out of the box suggestion.
  12. I would project Madrigal to be put in the 9 hole until he gets comfortable. He will move quickly to leadoff or 2nd in the order long term.

The bullpen is scary good. Colome, Bummer, Marshall and Herrera are lights out right now. Fry, Minaya and even Osich and Burr when healthy are solid. If we had two additional quality starters this team would be contending even without Cease, Robert and Madrigal. Time to put the finishing touches on this team and start contending.
  14. Those trade aren't happening.
  15. In hindsight sticking with Avi would have been just to simple.
  16. Wild card?? I see no reason not to contend for the division next year. Time to start playing for real.
  17. Sanchez makes Ricky look brilliant with that 10th inning bunt.
  18. Jay is a decent player and has kind of gotten a bad rap with the off season crap. He is a reliable though not exciting player. Once called up he will get the majority of playing time. We paid for him...might as well use him until we find that long term right fielder.
  19. There was a time when Hector was very good. Hope he has something left since he is only 31.
  20. I don't disagree. I've said a number of time that I'm 50-50 on both he and Abreu. I'm happy to keep both but am open to trade for the right piece. Neither in my mind should go for anything less than a useful right fielder who might be blocked where he is. Starting pitching is also a need. Not much interest in future pieces anymore. The future is now.
  21. Tomorrow we go for .500 for what seems like the umpteenth time. Let's get er done and keep on going.
  22. 16 for 16 for Colome. He's worth a fortune in trade value.
  23. All the bunting practice finally pays off.
  24. Jake Fry was really better than I thought he could be. Seems to have found himself.
