did it hapoen Michelle? Did it happen? I seem to recall the Pentagon and the WTTs going down because of terrorists, not antiwar protestors. I love you deeply, and I love you family, but dont fling the s***. The terrorists come, it is sure as hell going to be because of what is happening in Iraq right now, not because of those who protest the war.

You, my stay at home friend with the bold talk, do nothing for no one. Go enlist if you support this thing so. And don't give me this bulls*** about being disloyal to our troops. I will allow myself this righteous anger: :fyou asshole. My son is out there. And I God Bless my son. And I God bless all who serve. And I God bless everyone who was out expressing their patriotic opinion that the decisions made by the administration are wrong. The support for the troops is real and thorough. Whenever an expression of our opposition to the decisions of the government is linked by assholes like you to being disloyal to the troops, then you are doing nothing more than advancing the same tactics that Nazis, communists, fascists, McCarthyites and others have used to silence dissent - accusations of disloyalty. The freedom to assemble is a constitutional right for a reason, even if there is a cost. You want all the trains to run on time? Mussolini could give you that. The American system is sometimes messy but it is what it is all about. Saddam does not allow demonstrations opposed to his views - you attack demonstrations with views different than yours. Change your name to OfficerSaddam and it would be accurate with who your soul mate is. And I await your announcement of your impending service in support of our troops, or just what exactly you will do to support the troops. With my "Invade Iraq? No!" bumber sticker on my car,. I am welcome at my local VFW and American Legion because in this small town they can tell the difference between supporting the people who serve with not supporting the government's policy. What do you do to support the troops? I will not be sorry for being angry at an asshole like you who accuses others of disloyalty to my son and his fellow Marines and all of our troops just because we disagree with the administration's polcies. Have you given blood yet? Have you volunteered at a VA home? Taken a diabled veteran to the doctor or out for lunch? Stopped at the recruiters office and brought coffee and donut? Anything rather than trash talk people you dont like? f***ing lazy big talk do nothing asshole. As long as my son is out there and you are all mouth here, be prepared to get slammed back at out in full measure for the accusations you make.

just bumping up the CMU tip because the Marine helicopter crash has me all stressed right now
-
whatever - so easy to sign the good luck card for the pr spin ploy from the White House as opposed to actual support - if it comforts you, go with it though goodness knows we didn't offer bribes, oops, I mean, all kinds of sweetners to get them to sign the card -

I only said they "may not" beat Creighton. Just wanted to say - all of you who picked against Central Michigan, I tried to tip you!

something tells me in the 80s I was much older than you were! I was like the oldest person not a burn out at the Dio concert. Now I am the oldest guy burn out or not at the Eminem concerts. Some things never change! Just got tickets for the July Eminem show in Detroit, Missy Elliot and 50¢ on the bill. Very happy!

It will accomplish whatever the framers of the constitution intended when they guarenteed the right to assemble. It certainly is good to see how many other people out there feel as I do and went out and expressed it. Kind of like crowds at a baseball game. They can play before a 0 crowd but it lends a great deal of support when there is a big crowd. And seeing footage of the crowd gives me hope when that many people on short notice inconvenienced themselves to express how deeply they feel about something important. Thinking still exists and we haven't been stampeded yet.

you should be thrown off this board for making anyone picture that in their mind - tried like hell to forget it and you go and remind me - :fyou

I'm not going to bore anyone anymore with my how I met JR story but as a lot time super critic, given that I met him in a sitruation where he and I had time to talk ayt length, I came away convinced thast he is truly a Sox fan (as opposed to just an owner) and wants a Sox winner as much as I do. Now he may screw up going about it - but I don't doubt his sincereity anymore. And I am still angry with him for f***ing up the MB signing. But I think he is sincere.
-
I forgot JD played in Chicago JD's big league stats YASNY, why do you say the Sox messed him up on hitting? I am not arguing with you - I simply don't know the story and am curious to hear it.

NATO can act without the UN - they did in Kosovo - NATO declared for the first time that becauyse one country had been attacked that all had been attacked, after September 11th. That is why there was the big coalition of troops then, and most NATO countries still have troops statoned in Afghanistan. Obviously a lot of NATO countries feel differently about this thing.

Just saw that on the news. Right on Chicago! My home town comes through!

that one does crack me up all the time - it is a running joke from prior albums where he lectures Em for the most disgusting albums he has ever heard, the company willl never release it, now go give me something that can sell -- Metal is fine - there is room to be a metal head and yet have a little rap in your life - I once drove acrtoss the state to see Dokken and Ronnie James Dio - (Dio was really great, Dokken was just ok) and I have more heavy metal in my collection that anyone dreams of - although you are of course way ahead of me in the newer stuff. It gets harder to keep up when one gets older, damn it. So keep posting about what you like because it clues me in as to what to look for when I go shopping for new music! Bet you didn't think your posts were educational, did you?

I just returned from our community service for prayers for this time of war. Naturally many of the area clergy could not make it, and naturally it is assumed that I would be - which I was. It is a gift and an obligation to be one of the 4 clergy in town who is always on call for community events. And as I sat by the altar, as I read from Scriptures and led prayers (and threw in a Semper Fi for my son) I reflected that I don't have the same freedom as all of you to give way to your emotions and passions. How much fun it must be to say screw you this and screw you that and wish war and death and destruction on other people because it is so fun to just go with the flow. How easy it must be to hate Bush or hate Saddam or hate the whole Iraqi people or not care how many casualties there are because you want to be #1 no matter how many graves it takes. I can't stand before the community and say exactly what I feel - that this is the wrong thing and that there were other ways and other values that must be upheld. Not the time for a dissertation on what I think American foreign policy should be. It is instead a time for me to stand before my community and represent what God wants to be said and done in this situation, remembering our obligations to our God and our separate obligations to our country.. You all ever lead a community service in singing America? Ever seek to say something on behalf of something greater than yourself to speak to a community of people with very divergent views and bring all the thoughts, hopes, and fears of a community into expression? Somehow in rural western Michigan in rock ribbed Republican country I must do ok since it is always expected that I be at these community worship events to speak. One of the most conservative pastors in the community was in tears thanking me for what I said tonight in words that I shall not share but never forget. But that is my calling, to transcend my own beliefs to speak to others so that feel they are being represented, no matter how different our beliefs may be. It's not your calling but it is mine. And I do a very fine job of it . And I am limited in what I can say when I knwo that I have to justify everything I say to God - not free to say screw this or screw that because I have to speak on behalf of what God wants - and not that my own personal ideas are that at all, not at all, not at all, but I called to account on it all the time. Can you imagine Jesus shooting off cruise missiles or scuds or making weapons of mass destruction or breaking off negotiations or anything else that either nation's leaders have done? And yet I can't say screw you Bush screw you Saddam for doing things that you do because God requires more. And I have to find that in a way that encompasses everyone in the community - to speak for apo and doubleM and HSC and baggio and CK and do it for all of you in God's name. Quite the challenge. Now you all know thast I have challenged those of military age to enlist if they are so gung ho about this war or think that this is what America really needs. But you all won't do that, and besides there are others of you who have already served or are too aged to serve now. But I do challenge everyone - pro war and anti war - to get away from your computers as I did for a while tonight and do something. Give blood. Visit a VA home. Work in a homeless shelter. Donate what you spend on beer in one week to feed the hungry or to the Red Cross or the USO. Do what I do - bring donuts and coffee to the recruiters at the local military recruiting station and pray for them, with them, thank them. Go thank a veteran instead of ranting and raving on these boards about screw you Saddam and screw you antiAmerican antiwar hippies. Do something for your country more than squawk about what beliefs you have and yet do nothing about. And in closing having issued my challenge, this is the prayer that I led tonight: O God you have taught us that the earth is yours, and all the fulness thereof. All people have been created in your image. All people are your children. God, please bless your people of every nation and faith. God, bless America. God, bless Iraq. God, bless all the people whom you have made; we are all your creation in your own image. In waging war upon each other we wage war upon your image and creation. God, bless those who cower in fear from bombs that fall. Bless those who live in fear of terror or in terror itself. Bless those under fire. Bless those with no shelter, bless those with no running water or sanitation, bless those with no medical care, God, bless those have suffered injury or loss of loved ones or death. God, bless the children. God, forgive us for giving such a world to our children. God, bless the children who huddle in fear of war raining upon them, God, bless the children who huddle in fear for parents in the service, God, bless the children who watch war on television and think this is the way life is supposed to be. God, save your people. It is you O God who taught us in your Holy Scriptures to put no trust in princes. God, would that you take the leaders of the nations and lock them into a room and let them dispute amongst themselves so that people might be spared the wars of those who sit in power. Would that you would walk amongst us again and teach us again to love all people, to love our enemies, maybe you would even ask us to ask ourselves, who is our enemy other than people created in your image, you also call upon you for strength and hope and deliverance. In our fear no one is an enemy. We are all people frightened and have no where to turn but to you, for you alone are the God of all people, the God of all nations, the God of all peace. Forgive us all for hate and hostility. Forgive us all for thirst for violence and bloodshed. Forgive us all our acceptance of war. Protect those who serve. Protect those in harms way. Protect those in the path of the storm. Place in our hearts the image of the One who Came to bring Peace. Gracious Sovereign, deliver us. Sovereign of all nations, deliver us. Soveriegn and Savior, deliver us. Grant to all people, grant to us here in this place, those in every place in this nation those in every other nation, those who protest, those who support, those who serve, those who are under immediate threat, those who know you, those who do not you, grant to us all the peace that the world cannot give for only in you may we dwell in safety.

baggio, I disagree almost totally with your analysis - what else is new. CK, France has been a far more valuable ally (especially in regards to intelligence matters) than they have been given credit for by most people. Whatever reason they are a flashpoint for people's anger, so be it. Question for the french boycotters - if you had tickets for the Bears vs Packers, going to not go because the Packers start famous French descendent Bret Favre (who is so stupid he cannot pronounce his own name...)?
-
I'm sure the amount of INTEL made available to the US about terrorist Organizations worldwide and within France is gargantuan in scope to Israel, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, etc. blind hatred and ignoring the compelxities of reality is one way to go - it feels so visceraly good - go for it, you seem to enjoy it so.
-
that is an unfair analogy andf you can do better than that.

"Naturally, the common people don't want war, but after all, it's the leaders of a country that determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice the people can be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country." -- Hermann Goering, Hitler's Reich-Marshall at the Nuremburg trial after WW II

Crede wasn't ready in April 2002 He came up when ready. And ]Crede is not quietly becoming a star, he will burst on the scene like a bright super nova to be long remembered.

arguably. I'd make a case for the CCIW - Augustana, Carthage, and Illinois Weslyan were all very tough and head to head all season/ Oh, but they are Division III. Nevermind.
