  1. The prior two posts by chisoxfn and YASNY - I'd just like to second those by saying, me too!
  2. ban Saturday night games? No way. I go to games on weekends and enjoy the Saturday night games with the fireworks and the kids love those games - my grandson gets so excited when I buy him the glow stick sold around the end of the 8th inning and almost the entire crowd stays for the fireworks - at Comiskey/US Cellular, the Saturday night fireworks is a promotion that ranks very high on the popularity scale. A lot of people travel for those Saturday games, those are the games you most likely see the folks come in from the hinterlands. We start at 6:05 and with fireworks still out of the park generally by 9:30. How is that too late? It is sometimes impossible for me to get in for a noon or 1 pm game on a Saturday; the Saturday night game Sunday day game combo works great for me. And with no Saturday night games, just what the hell am I supposed to watch on ESPN on Saturday nights if it is a non baseball weekend at Comiskey/US Cellular? I agree that #6 and #15 are dreadful. I also think a lot of the proposed rule changes take the game and maneuvers out of the managers' hands. banning body armor is never going to happen; the players union will rightly never allow their members to face greater bodily damage, and the teams would surely oppose that too for the same reason. The liability issues stagger the imagination. And I really dislike allowing fan interference. Really dislike that. Things like enforcing the batters box and eliminating phantom tags I do say a big AMEN to. I don't want to sound all negative - always fun to think of ways to improve the game and appreciate the ideas of those who think of things to spice it up, so thanks Jason, even though I am not crazy about these particulars over all.

could be a promotion - first 20,000 fans who show up naked get sunscreen and a pre-game dance around the field like the kids and dogs parades
  4. how the hell did I miss the Royce autographed balls - I would have bought 2! damn it!
  5. congratulations to you for asking the question and getting it answered (as bs as the answer was), you are way cool for asking and calling him on his fantasy!

depending on what your body looks like and your dance skills, nothing necessarily wrong with you dancing naked on the roof! Might get a naked conga line going up there actually!
  7. anyone who bought that Belle stuff at those prices is a loon or a really desparate rap star wannabe

As a life long die hard Sox fan, you have no idea what it means to me to see such intelligent, knowledgable baseball talk as there is in this forum. Why the hell did I ever spend time on the WS MLB board?
  9. f***ing A, I never thought of that - you have got to absolutely right. Last year there were more racks of game worn jersies than I can count in my memory, and they reloaded sometime on Saturday, and in all kinds of price ranges $25-$125, and then a bunch, bunch more of higher priced ones And they had every other type thing too - patches, scarves, head bands, cards, pins, old give away items, and all of this in quantity, gees I can't remember everything. The lines were always about a 30 minute or more wait to get in. And it took forever to cruise. This year, no lines, no merchandise, and it took 3 minutes to look at everything, because it was nothing. Of course half the garage sale was devoted to All Star Game merchandise, and that was all display cases, not much real All Star stuff as much as display cases. And RPS, you hit it right on the head, has to be the reason.
  10. So you didn't buy the Albert Belle autographed stuff?
  11. thank you for the kind words. If you were president, I'd be writing speeches about cleaning up America, beginning with leveling Wrigley Field and putting their drunken fans into treatment centers.
  12. keep posting, I enjoy your reports
  13. do you live near the team - how do you get to see the players? thanks for the on the spot reviews, it helps a whole lot for people like me who are mostly clueless as to what is happening in the minors - since joining this board I have learned a lot, a whole lot.
  14. the only poster who has never made a mistake in posting is the one who has never posted was it just last month I had Tampa Bay in the NL?
  15. imagine Sam-me Sosa pop-ups on AOL - probably pushing "performance enhanicng drugs legal in the Dominican Republic, and his own brank of Sosa rum in special hard to break bottles
  16. http://www.la-isla.com/hotel_directory/ If the Margarita Isle Chamber of Commerce had bought the rights, you would not only be all over the new name, you'd be the Queen of Margarita Park!
  17. Comiskey could have named it Sox Park, or Chicago Baseball Field - he stuck his name on it for his own purposes - where is Dyche Stadium these days, which was pledged in perpetuity to be named after the original Dyche? where is the Chicago Stadium these days? Michigan is the only Big 10 team that bans all advertizing on the scorebaord and in the park, no signage, no commericals, no way at all, but Michigan stands alone in Big 10 football that way. And the naming rights have begun in college basketball - look where Ohio State plays b-ball...

    My apology to all

don't worry we all make mistakes and you are an adult to admit it - however you may be drawing more attention to something that a lot of people missed - whatever, you are cool, my friend
  19. it never ends - I am glad we are using it shrewdly for a change - be glad that these people didn't buy the naming rights so you'd have to call it Williams Field http://www.williamshvac.com/
  20. Not until the naming rights are sold for: 1. your kids 2. sex 3. margaritas 4. Magglio's ass 5. Borchard's body 6. your friends
  21. To which I can only say: Worldcom
  22. Of course I was right! Interesting too was that KW went on to say (as I heard it) that Cruz was in the Fick category in terms of personality and had no chance to play for the Sox, and KW made reference to bad club house chemistry in 2001 and 2002 as opposed to 2000 and that now personality is factor in considering players, haing learned their lesson, and that the Sox will take a player with slightly lesser talent who would provide better chemistry than a player with slightly better talent that would be a clubhouse cancer.
  23. Let's see: The Cubs play in Wrigley Field named after either a man or a company but do you think they were that stupid to not know they were building brand loyalty, marketing, and getting free advertizing by calling it the same name as the family's product? The "named after a man not a company" may be the original Wrigley Field bulls*** legend. If they wanted to name it after a man, they could have called it "William Field." No, they went for the product name - and as is true for Cubs always - pretended differently. The Cubs are owned by the Tribune Corporation whose motto is, World's Greatest Newspaper, and the Cubs are broadcast on WGN, "WGN" which stands for World's Greatest Newspaper, and WGN is owned by the Tribune, the Tribune which has raised the matter of building a syburban ballpark if the city won't given the Trib any zoning concessions to expand Wrigley, and anyone worries about what some f***ing cub fan says?
