Tuesday's Prosportsdaily.com says the deal will be for Mintkewhoskievich and a prospect. -
Timo Perez has one of the best arms in the league?

New Party Area in U.S. Cellular
Al Lopez Ghost (old) replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
I never thought I would see an ugly White Sox hat, but now I have. -
Monday morning, 10:00 A.M. Boers and Bernstein said that George Offman said that he's heard that while the White Sox will not be spending big bucks with any trade pickup, the Sox are interested in obtaining Corey Lidle. Also said that Guardado turned down the chance to be traded to the Indians.

You will find a lot of people here have been talking up Finley for a long time, but the problem is that he seems to want to stay in the NL and if not to San Diego, lately it's been said that Philly is the front runner for him. If we're going for it this year, and I agree that we should, I'd like to see if we could pick up Benson and Kendall, or failing that, Guardado. There's a lot of ways to make us just a little stronger club for the stretch. Welcome to Sox talk.

If you want to plan a group outing at the park, the Sox website says that the Warning Track Party is now operating. For groups of 50 to 100, you get the Bertucci Boys' buffet, 90 minutes prior to and 30 minutes after the start of the game, and then you watch the game from the right center field warning track area. It doesn't state the price, but it can't be much more than the cost of the buffet and a general admission ticket I would guess, since the only seat you have is the one God gave you. Still, it's relatively new and novel. FWIW.

Paging Jon Garland...

Dear Jon, Remember me? I wrote to you last night. I asked that you step up. Jon, dicking around is different from stepping up. Not so cordially, A.L.G. -
Jackson is our Antonio Alfonseca. Which is not a good thing. Fire his ass.

Juan - there's your clubhouse cancer. No thanks.

in all other games then, we are 38-29

Paging Jon Garland...

Be good to your waitress! -
Dick Allen was the goods. I met him (in a bar of all places) in the late 1980's, and I told him he was the best player I ever saw in a Sox uniform. He said "Well, aren't you kind. But the best player who ever wore a Sox uniform is on my other side here." And there was Minnie Minoso.

I was waiting for the Joe Crede hop! Speaking of hops, you see Sammy choke in the ninth yesterday? Boy, yesterday was fun.

During Crede's game winning at bat
Al Lopez Ghost (old) replied to brijames's topic in Pale Hose Talk
One more Joe Crede note from last night. On both the ninth inning at bat, and the 7th inning double, he went from 0-2 to a full count before getting the hits. Pretty impressive to hang in there like that. He's 7 for his last 15, so, maybe good things are in store the rest of the way. -
Here's the message: Dear Jon: Sunday is a big game. We'd like to at least stay in first for the Minny series opener, and with Mark and Freddy going one two in that series, we feel pretty f***ing good about our chances. Now, after a dramatic win, tacked on to the Cleveland series and Friday night, the team could come out flat on Sunday. That's where you need to step up. So, as Hawk has said on occasion, Big Jon, nothing to it but to do it. Cordially, A.L.G. P.S. Don't make me get nasty with you on Sunday afternoon.
-
Oh no, Vinny Castilla is who we need. Also, big props to Joe for just putting his head down and running out that home run. No hot doggin' it.
-
Well, you know, it's good to go to a ballpark where the concrete is falling all around you. I've been waiting since 1988 to say this about Wrigley. (1988 was when old Comiskey started to crumble, or at least they started talking about it.)
-
I guess we just ought to give up.

Did you hear during the broadcast that they are now announcing the tickets already sold for upcoming games? Approximately 33,000 sold for Saturday, 25,000 for Sunday, and I didn't hear what he said about the Twins series. This is a great idea, because it spurs people on to buy tickets for other upcoming games, creating a feeling, or maybe just communicating the facts that tickets are getting more scarce. We've come a long way this year, haven't we?

In 2000 we brought back Baines and he was through. Having him around created problems, it didn't solve any. I don't think Olerud has anything left. If we go out to get somebody, have it be somebody you know can help. Getting Olerud now is subtraction by addition.

If you watch his delivery it does seem like he's almost pitching uphill, which could be a sign that his shoulder is bothering him. Cooper and Hawk have said he's not keeping the right arm slot, which is probably saying the same thing, so yeah, in a guy's walkaway year, he might be pitching through physical problems. I still wouldn't sign him next year.

Let's see how horrid the Trib is on...
Al Lopez Ghost (old) replied to WSoxShuf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
While we're talking about Cub coverage, Paul Sullivan wrote an article in April wherein he computed exactly how the Cubs would win 100 games this year, and in early May and June recapped how his projection was doing. Haven't seen much followup to that idea lately.
