  1. Nobody else wants Frank. As for Buehrle, Marte, and anyone else who succeeds, leaving the Sox is just a matter of time.
  2. No. I'm glummer. The list of players who have left us with hard feelings is a long one.
  3. Because there's been so much confusion on this, I thought I'd post what today's Tribune has to say. The Sox won't even be compensated with a 1st round draft pick for losing Gordon or Colon. Because Anaheim's record left the Angels with a pick in the first half of the first round, they have to surrender only a 2nd round selection if they sign Colon. The Sox would also receive a sandwich pick between the 1st and 2nd rounds. The Sox will get another sandwich pick after losing Gordon, plus the Yankees' 2nd or 3rd round selection. Gordon is ranked below other free agent signees Gary Sheffield and Paul Quantrill.
  4. Could we try not to say that this move will free up cap space, or if we sign that guy it'll hurt us against the cap? Our only cap is Reinsdorf.
  5. Wow, I never heard that. Cocky son of a gun, ain't he? Pun intended.
  6. What's the back story on that?
  7. I read somewhere that the Rockies, believe it or not, are interested in Clayton for their shortstop. Yuck.
  8. No. No one who makes out a lineup card would play Valentin at shortstop and have Nomar play second. Ok, maybe Bevington would, but that's about it.
  9. Plus they may wind up with Foulke or Guardado.
  10. If this had been true, I might have just declared a hiatus on being a Sox fan. Signing this fat tub of goo would be just a little less than moving the team to Florida, as far as pissing me off.
  11. Philosophy? Our Philosophy is you-can't-spend-a dollar-when-you-have-fifty-centsism. And, yeah, we should change it.
  12. Larry Horse says Paul Konerko is too GIDPY
  13. The White Sox website now has a seating chart color coded to let everyone know what seats fall into the premium category, along with the prices of all seats. Click on tickets, ticket information, seating and pricing. By the way there will be 42 games Mon-Thurs, and 39 for Fri through Sunday. I wonder what they'll do when a rainout changes moves a weekday to a weekend, or vice versa.
  14. I have a hard time calling a team greedy when it's spending money on players. I think Boston will play - geez this is hard to say - the Cubs, and yes, only Dusty Baker can prevent the Cubs from winning the World Series. I hope he does.
  15. Plus most people would agree that Honel is not ready, and it's likely Reed isn't either.
  16. Man, this is so wrong. Or all other baseball clubs are idiots, to not obtain Gload and put him in the lineup, because he's better than a guy who has actually hit the ball in the major leagues. Gload will be lucky to make the team. He hasn't done a whole lot of that in his major league career.
  17. This is simply not true. He was an excellent shortstop, who played with a lot of Flair (wooo!).
  18. Today's Los Angeles Times is reporting that two Dodger sources are saying that they are close to acquiring Paul Konerko. That's all I know, because you have to register to see the whole story and your browser has to accept cookies. Can anyone else check this out?
