  1. Nardaroo has signed with Tampa Bay - he'll be the pitching coach for Princeton of the Appy League. More details as this breaking story develops.
  2. We have 3 starters, and have lost our best righty reliever. I can't say we have better pitching that KC at this point in time.
  3. If the trade happens and we wind up with Nomar, the notion that we would keep Nomar has to be smoke KW was blowing, right? IMO, there is no economic sense in keeping an 11 or 12 million dollar player, just as there was no sense in keeping Magglio. Not to mention the pitching help we'll get, which we desperately need.
  4. I understand he's highly touted. Has anyone ever been lowly touted?
  5. I think they've gone too far to stop now. I can't see why the W Sox would keep Nomar, what with our salary prudence (YUCK), so I gotta think he'll be with us for about 20 seconds. Somebody, Gammons I think, said there's a possibility that the Commish will push the trade through over the objections of the player's association, and let them file a grievance, sending the thing to arbitration.
  6. During the updates this afternoon in the Mac, Yurko show, they're saying that Bruce Levine is reporting that the White Sox are close to acquiring Williamson. For what that's worth.
  7. But you have to look beyond the top ten picks. Buhrle was 38th, Piazza was way low in the draft, and there are countless other examples. It's true in football and baseball, when you draft, you have to make the best pick you can in EVERY round. There should be no wasted draft picks, which is what pissed me off when we selected Ron Shueler's daughter one year. You have to work the draft hard if you are going to be successful consistently.
  8. It's really unexpected. Maybe it means Frank Thomas to the Dodgers is still in the offing.
  9. There's a method in my madness. Or vice-versa.
  10. In the last few days somebody posted a message about how much money the Sox have taken in the last few years... Can someone tell me what thread that was in? I wanted to save it, but now I can't find it. It listed how much they made from TV, tix, etc. Any help out there? Thanks.
  11. This is the baseball version of buying day old bread.
  12. My buddy was a full season ticket holder dating back to 1989, with 3 tix near 3rd base, 30 rows back. I would buy 2 of the tix for 30-35 games. So his invoice this year was about $7500 this year. He would try to sell 2 for the other games, but wound up eating the extra two for at least 10 games a year. He and I talked it over and he decided to cancel. Figured he could pick and choose, avoid the April games, and save a boatload of money. But for sure, if the Sox were upholding their end of the bargain, he would have found a way to renew his tickets, and I would have stayed with it too.
  13. Wednesday night on ESPN News said that with Pettite going to Houston, Steinbrenner may look to get Kevin Brown, in a 3 way trade, as Frank Thomas goes to the Dodgers, and the Sox get Jeff Weaver. Then he said, of course some other players would be involved. That's all he said, but, I hope we don't trade Frank to get Perez and Jeff F. Weaver.
  14. I believe that the White Sox full name in print, on TV and radio next year will not be the Chicago White Sox. It will be the Hapless White Sox.
  15. The LA Herald ( I think it was the Herald) floated this today - Ortiz or Washburne for Carlos Lee. This offseason is sucking, but wait until April for the real suckfest
  16. Alvarez was acquired via trade, along with what's his name.
  17. I always thought that the Bobby Seay situation was orchestrated by the Sox, that they weren't going to sign him and so let the period to offer a contract expire. I believe no organization could be so stupid that this could have happened by accident/oversight. So spreading out these picks is probably a good thing.
  18. well, so far, Worrell, Lightenberg, Stairs and the guys of our own we are not signing have all been too rich for our blood. So, I'm guessing we won't be spending a lot of money on free agents. Call it a wild hunch.
  19. You mean Nomar, right? Or is ARod going to two teams? It would make that 25 million more affordable if both the Angels and Red Sox could pay him.
  20. If Kenny wants people who want to play for the Sox, I guess he wants nobody.
