  1. He said that Terry Francona is "pretty much set in stone" as the next Bosox manager. Said that Schilling loves Francona. He also said that Boston is hoping that Texas will say yes to Manny for A-Rod, which would lead to Nomar going to the Dodgers for pitching. If Nomar went to the Dodgers, that would end the CLee and Jose idea.
  2. I think the Cardinals are paying most of Tino's salary
  3. The Rotoworld thing says that the Royals are looking at a few players to replace Raul Ibanez, including Robert F. Fick.
  4. For all of you E.A. fans, he was claimed on waivers by the Red Sox on Thursday. Bobby Howry, Alan Embree, now Almonte. Kinda weird. Maybe Matt Karchner could make a comeback as a Carmine.
  5. I saw an internet rumor that Boston is interested in signing Graffy. I'd hate to see him leave, but if he gets a big raise, good for him. Works hard, doesn't take a me first attitude, and produces in his role. Of course I remember KW saying Graff is a priority, so I'm sure we'll keep him.
  6. Maybe you all saw this, but the Sox managed to piss off some fans again on Saturday. These fans came out Saturday morning to buy the upper deck seats that the team put up for sale. Only problem was that the seats had already been sold to season ticket holders via the internet. Those that showed up on Saturday were offered bobble head dolls. Poor Chris from marketing had to apologize to the fans and try to explain on TV. Now, I'm as surprised as anybody that there was such a huge demand for these seats... but it seems like the Sox once again misjudged, or rather underestimated, their fans. The Sox probably thought they'd be lucky to sell half of the seats. If the Sox captured Osama bin Laden, somehow, someway, they'd manage to do it in a way to piss people off.
  7. Honestly I would rather see us keep another speedy OF or IF instead of the leadfoots. We have plenty of guys who can play first. Hell teach Carlos how to play first, if need be. I just see Gload as a classic AAAA guy. Who knows, maybe I will be wrong. You are absolutely right.
  8. Interesting to note that, according to the article, the Sox offer to Magglio included deferred money. The Colon offer reportedly was loaded with deferred money. So the Sox can say the offered a gazillion bucks, but the offers are viewed by the player/agent as inferior. End result? Salary containment, and mediocrity.
  9. I just heard on the radio that KW is in today's newspapers, saying Gordon is gone, can't afford him, can't make the numbers work, blah blah blah. As the rebuilding continues.....
  10. You know I really don't care because I think Wunsch has been a good performer and I get the sense he's a good guy - he had to fight his way into the majors after being a high draft choice, so you gotta respect that - but if a dj was trying to stir up trouble, would he make stuff up about Kelly Wunsch? And in context, they were talking about the Super Bowl, not White Sox hot stove or anything like that. I'm done now.
  11. I don't think so. There have been unanimous MVPs in the past, meaning all first place votes went to the same guy.
  12. Nobody hates the Cubs more than me, but I swear every time I turned on a Cub game hoping to see them lose, Grudzwhatever was getting a big hit. I know he got a big hit off of Marte at the Saturday Wrigley game they took Colon out of. So I'm not that surprised someone else liked him a little.
  13. I just heard about it on the Score, and I had the same thought...it seems like a whole lot to trade for Mark Kotsay.
  14. What harry said Kelly said was "I was not invited to SoxFest." The word "yet" was not used. We'll see.
  15. You could be right, but to me it takes on a little more significance because Kelly himself apparently thought it was worth mentioning.
  16. This afternoon Mac, Jurko and Harry were talking about the Super Bowl, which is in Houston. Harry said that Kelly Wunsch told him that Kelly "was not invited to Soxfest this year" and so would be able to help out with the Super Bowl broadcasts, cause he lives in Houston. Doesn't sound like Kelly is part of the '04 plans.
  17. Oh God let's not muddy up the Sox discussion with the Bulls stuff. I can't stand Reinsdorf, but that didn't stop me from being a full season ticket holder from 1984 through 1995, and I still go to about 30 games a year. Here's what i don't understand. If you were invited to a poker game, and you looked at the table and saw you couldn't afford to play, because everyone else had too many chips stacked up, would you sit down and play? Would you keep playing? You'd have to be crazy, or masochistic to do that. Or maybe he's a sadist and Sox fans are the masochists. That's it - Reisdorf is a dominatrix!!!!!!!!! Now I understand.
  18. I went with Colon. Those who are afraid his arm will blow out, that's what insurance is for. Is Todd Richie available?
  19. What does the World Series have in common with a sterilized bear? No Cubs.
  20. To everyone who is burying Minnesota...it's like burying Dracula. Until I see the White Sox, oh, I dunno, actually beat the Twins consistently, or even FINISH AHEAD OF THEM, I'm not downplaying the Twins' chances.
  21. I would not want to sit Crede for Valentin. Crede is the future, Valentin is the past.
  22. You didn't get the whole story. The White Sox WANTED to refuse the tests to increase the positive results, so that mandatory testing would occur, but in about 20 minutes the players association went ballistic on their asses, so the Sox fell in line and participated in testing. By the way, can they eliminate the drugs the Sox took - the GIDP steroid?
  23. Any time management says we really want to keep so and so, but you know it's a business, or a player says I really want to stay, but you know it's a business, what you really know is: HE GAWN!
