The annual spring training addresses to the press about his contract being unfair, including a walkout...the shuttle run incident...showing up late for stretching when he was taken out of the lineup...don't send the runner when I'm hitting, it's distracting...the times he refused to slide at home on close plays, only to be tagged out...his decision to be a home run hitter last year when his manager said Frank is more valuable when he makes contact, drives the ball and drives in runs.... You can support Frank all you want, and maybe Ozzie was wrong here, but it can't be that the world is wrong and Frank is right all the time.

The person who makes out the lineup card has the upper hand, until he surrenders it. I say the sooner Frank and Ozzie mark their territories, the better. If it's not gonna work between them, might as well figure out the next step sooner than later.

Well, I was wrong. They interviewed Don Kessinger. Now I know he player- managed us a couple of years, but he was a Cub for 12 years. I guess that's as close as they dared go for the Cubs' perspective.

I think Rowand will be the choice. What I haven't seen mentioned is that he's a pretty good bunter, and tries to move the guy from second to third with nobody out. He gets a good jump, has a pretty good arm, has a little pop, and hustles. That should be enough to win the job - but he has to stay healthy, or he turns into the new millenium Brian Simmons.
