Me likey Robin Yount, although Ozzie is growing on me. Jeff Torborg was very enthusiastic on Ozzie's readiness to manage, yesterday on the Score. Torborg also said leaving the Sox was the worst professional decision he ever made.
The internet edition of the Sun Times identifies the man of the night as Steve Bartman who lives in Northbrook, works in Lincolnshire, and is very, very sorry for being such an assclown. (I added that last part.)
As if the Sox knew anything about PR.
I'd either let him throw out the first pitch, or let him catch the first pitch sitting along the 3rd base line.
Wednesday is Christmas - just don't know for whom yet.
Cub payroll? 70 to 90 million, I think.
Sox payroll? Not.
Cubs added Karros, Grudzalanek, Ramirez, Lofton, two catchers, and 3 middle relievers.
Until we spend the dough, don't get your hopes up.
They've realigned before...Make the Expos an American League team, and shift Texas, or Toronto, Tampa, or the then-moved White Sox, for that matter. It's not likely, but it could happen in an extreme case scenario. The Brewers and the Diamonbacks have been in both leagues already.
What is a qualifying offer? You mean arbitration, right? They may not want to risk Foulke accepting arbitration, what with his 40 plus saves comparing to oh, I don't know, Koch's salary. Foulke's people will say if Koch's Krap is worth 6 milllion, our 40 plus saves should be 9 million.
Nobody wants the Cubs to lose more than me, but I was almost wishing for the series to end in Florida, to deny the Cub fans the celebration in Wrigley Field.
Dear God:
Whatever you want forever. Just give me two more Marlin wins this season.
Very Truly Yours,
ALG
Are you saying the White Sox have been mentioned with Tejada and Matsui? Other fans wishful thinking fans, who has mentioned the Sox considering going after either one of these guys? If you have a source, I'd love to see or hear it.
I don't have the cites, but someone has posted on this board newspaper opinion pieces - might have been from ESPN - that mentioned the White Sox as an interested party for both of them. Personally, I think it's hogwash.
In baseball there is no such thing as a restricted free agent.
Regarding Robbie Alomar - did it seem to anyone else that he kind of stopped producing in September?
Anything like this is great. FYI, back in the late 1980's, 3 or 4 guys would sit in the left field grandstand and wear sombreros, calling themselves Ozzie's Amigos. So, if Ozzie is hired as manager, he may think you're the welcoming committee.
The Pedro-Zimmer thing, the bullpen thing... I'll betch Ligue is salivating somewhere. Of course he probably is always doing that, but maybe extry hard.
