  1. Plus, I'd bet anything that his bosses at ESPN only want to hear him talk about the Yanks, Red Sox, Scrubs, etc., because they want to attract viewers and they think that's the surest way.
  2. How dare you put your petty little concerns ahead of the rest of us? We have needs that must be met! I'm sure I speak for everyone - thanks for what you do that allows us this forum for sharing and venting, especially venting.
  3. Man, there's a chance we are really gonna blow next year. Luckily we have Kenny Williams, the pride of Stanford U., to prevent that.
  4. Basically I agree with you. In years that they have considered going on strike, people have asked me what I thought, cause I go to so many Sox games. My answer has always been if they go on strike I hope it lasts years, to get the game more balanced between the players and owners. But the owners have never had the balls for it.
  5. The strike would last at least a year, maybe more.
  6. I've read that the Twins spent more on payroll than anybody in our division. Maybe we could try doing that. Plus, it seems like they make good decisions on trades, drafting, and developing players. Maybe we could try doing that, too.
  7. That would be a novelty. Of course, you didn't say Kenny had a GOOD idea.
  8. Yeah, what I'm going to miss is the idea that my team's management wants to make the playoffs by assembling the best team they can, not the best team they can under 55 million.
  9. Yasny, Robin hit an inside the park homer last year! Of course, he had a heart attack afterwards....
  10. I don't understand why these big dollar contracts don't include clauses that require the players to give back part of their multi-millions for non-production. Add clauses in the terms that allow them to get more the next year for a return to productivity. Was that supposed to be in green? If not, the answer is because no player would sign such a contract, and the player's association would go postal on whoever did.
  11. Along with all his obvious faults, Reinsdorf has a weird one that nobody talks about. When given a choice he always takes the most boring option. Examples: 1. He let Harry Caray go to the Cubs, a marketing disaster akin to the Titanic. 2. He built a boring ballpark that they're still trying to fix. 3. He hired Darren Jackson to be half of the number one way you market a ball club, the daily voice of your ballclub. Hard to believe the Cubs seized the media attention...gee it started around 1982....
  12. By and large, if you have someone like Koch that you're so eager to dump, you're gonna get back the other team's version of Koch, that is, a large contract for a bum they want to dump. Cedeno fits that description. I say keep Koch unless you know that the guy you get back won't make a bad situation worse. I liked that 3 way trade idea, however.
  13. Well, he's certainly a poor excuse for an owner.
  14. Will we do anything worthwhile this offseason? Well, the upper deck is being chopped off. That's worthwhile. We will assemble a team that will stay within Reinsdorf's budget constraints. That's worthwhile to him. Other than that though......No.
  15. Thanks. My subscription to the Korean Times had run out, so I wasn't aware of this.
  16. 100 years ago the White Sox were owned by a tightfisted bastard. Now...I guess things haven't changed so much.
  17. You see us forfeiting those final 3 games, do you?
  18. i'm hoping Fick signs with a National League team. Then I want to see his first at bat against Kerry Wood, because I gotta think Wood puts a hole in Fick's back. Of course, then I hope Fick scores the winning run and the Cubs lose. Is that asking too much?
  19. Whaaaa? Let's get Julio Franco while we're at it.
  20. I believe that Pedro is paid more than Magglio, which is reason number 1 this ain't true.
  21. Maybe Man Soo Lee could help us out. The Sox just can't compete with the likes of the Mariners and Yankees in Asia. Not to mention in the United States, either.
  22. I've always been an APBA guy. I even went and bought the cards again after the 2000 season - guess why. Never played a computer version though. It was a good way to learn about great teams from the past, and what players could hit and run, that sort of thing.
