Basically I agree with you. In years that they have considered going on strike, people have asked me what I thought, cause I go to so many Sox games. My answer has always been if they go on strike I hope it lasts years, to get the game more balanced between the players and owners. But the owners have never had the balls for it.

The strike would last at least a year, maybe more.

I've read that the Twins spent more on payroll than anybody in our division. Maybe we could try doing that. Plus, it seems like they make good decisions on trades, drafting, and developing players. Maybe we could try doing that, too.

I don't understand why these big dollar contracts don't include clauses that require the players to give back part of their multi-millions for non-production. Add clauses in the terms that allow them to get more the next year for a return to productivity. Was that supposed to be in green? If not, the answer is because no player would sign such a contract, and the player's association would go postal on whoever did.

Along with all his obvious faults, Reinsdorf has a weird one that nobody talks about. When given a choice he always takes the most boring option. Examples: 1. He let Harry Caray go to the Cubs, a marketing disaster akin to the Titanic. 2. He built a boring ballpark that they're still trying to fix. 3. He hired Darren Jackson to be half of the number one way you market a ball club, the daily voice of your ballclub. Hard to believe the Cubs seized the media attention...gee it started around 1982....

By and large, if you have someone like Koch that you're so eager to dump, you're gonna get back the other team's version of Koch, that is, a large contract for a bum they want to dump. Cedeno fits that description. I say keep Koch unless you know that the guy you get back won't make a bad situation worse. I liked that 3 way trade idea, however.

I've always been an APBA guy. I even went and bought the cards again after the 2000 season - guess why. Never played a computer version though. It was a good way to learn about great teams from the past, and what players could hit and run, that sort of thing.
