  1. Well his tweet here is 100% certifiably true. @mikedeportes did indeed claim the Sox were talking to Cespedes and Puig
  2. If you’re including Mercedes and Lucroy in the first list, why not Williams, Beckham and Hamilton in the second?
  3. Fangraphs isn’t more reliable. They’re projecting NL teams to each get 294 PA from designated hitter, for example. 294 PA in ten inter league games at AL parks. If they can’t even get the most simple projection right... Not sure why you keep bringing up left field in relation to mendick
  4. Why would he be playing completely out of position? You were talking about Sox middle infield depth. Considering Mendick has the best glove in the group, some power and good speed, he’s actually pretty good for the fourth mid infielder on the depth chart as indicated by 1.1 WAR in limited action.
  5. I don’t think a trade is considered a contract assignment considering trading is a way to bypass assignment rules in dfa/waivers process
  6. That sounds like an improvement from reacting like pitches a foot off the plate are on the corner.
  7. Pretty sure it is within human capability to hit a baseball the other way.
  8. What do you reckon it would take? Seems to me that he, Mountcastle and Rutschman make for a pretty good core of mid order bats to build around. I wouldn’t think the O’s would exactly be dying to get him off their hands.
  9. I don’t really see benching any of Abreu, Vaughn or Eloy to get Grandal in at DH/1b 40-60 times either. He’s not that good of a hitter.Hopefully La Russa isn’t looking at paystubs when he’s making out lineup cards. Payroll is what it is, that ought to go out the window in favor of using the roster to its maximum effect. Dodgers are probably going to use Price out of the bullpen. Is that a waste of however tens of millions he’s making? Maybe but they’re paying the same payroll no matter how they use the players. Idea should be to get most out of the roster regardless of how the pie is divvied up.
  10. Either way, I’m thinking most people aren’t considering Eloy’s production at age 22 representative of his expected future production
  11. My sensibilities are fine. I just like to clue in people who consistently act like a douche bag, just in case they weren’t aware
  12. There hasn’t been five seasons since 2016? I know it’s a bold prediction but that’s my call
  13. Quintana’s going to have a big year. He looked filthy in his limited action last year and he looks the same this spring. I’m calling 4 WAR right now provided he stays healthy
  14. One man’s logjam is another man’s depth. Too bad we didn’t have a logjam in the present situation. Besides neither Cespedes or Colas are shoo ins as mlb regulars.
  15. Curse words lose their impact when you use them in every sentence of every post. Then it just becomes cloying
  16. If the Sox are serious they’re going to have to bite the bullet and give up some actual value. I’ve been against spending future assets but this changes the equation imo
  17. I don’t know. I think we’ve got to just hope Vaughn comes straight out in beast mode at this point. Looks a lot worse anyway you stack it without Eloy in the middle otherwise
  18. He’s not ready. Williams/Engels is the only realistic in-house option among actual major league outfielders
  19. Grandal in a run producing spot is a horrible idea. You have to have ability to get base hits to bring in runs
