I wish he signed in the NL or literally anyone but the Twins, so I wouldn’t have to root for his demise -

Because his flyball rate was 9%. Luck had nothing to do with it. His cutter forced hitters into driving the ball straight into the ground. -

Plug in Walsh for Pujols and that’s a pretty scary lineup -
You realize a bullpen is typically going to throw close to 600 innings a year these days?

The only guy I agree with there is Hamilton. Who you going to call up in august if there are injuries in the outfield? A little early to write off Adolfo, Rutherford and sheets just yet. Losing the only semi viable catcher in the minors isn’t a good idea either, considering Mercedes is basically a DH/emergency catcher only. Grandal or Collins goes down who’s your backup catcher without Zavala? -

I don’t see anything elsewhere, but they have all the other batters listed right -

Was Engel activated? Whitesox.com has him listed as a Sox batter instead of Hamilton on their game preview for today. -

White Sox are still a World Series Contender
Vulture replied to vilehoopster's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah my assessment has nothing to do with any of the horse shit moves the FO has made. Doesn’t really matter how you look at individual decisions. Tatis was one of the worst trades in the history of baseball for example. Better free agents could have been signed. Money was wasted in past years. However, I just look at the roster and coaching staff as currently constructed and none the less see a winner -
Sure but what’s really driving it is war calculation presuming without any actual empirical evidence that pitching has no effect on outcome on batted balls, thus overemphasizing value of strikeout when the true bottom line is recording outs while preventing runs from scoring, which Lynn has done at better than average rates consistently throughout his career. Since they can’t properly quantify it they ignore it. But just because something can’t be quantified doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Therefore pitching war is deeply flawed particularly fangraphs’.

In terms of long term starter depth, Dunning would be around 5-7 range. Giving that up for a bridge to that depth for a clearly superior pitcher without having to include far greater prospects when the Sox have reached their window is well worth it

If you say so.

200+ innings and a 3.5 era would result in a bad trade? I don’t think so. This just shows the flaws in WAR. No way 2019 was a significantly better season than for example 2014 when he had a 2.74 era in 204 innings
-
You mean the guy who put up a 3.57 era from 2011-2018? Or the guy who put up the exact same 3.57 era from 2019-2020? I’m confused here

? Article doesn’t even mention Leury

White Sox are still a World Series Contender

It looks, tastes, and smells good and is reliably decent but I’ve never had any from a dispensary that I thought was great. I think it is a question of mass production. Handcrafted work of a skilled artisan vs. assembly line production, they aren’t taking the same care as a guy growing a a couple pounds at a time who is one or two steps away from his customer. I don’t know exactly why but dispensary cannabis has always seemed neutered to me somehow. It’s better than commercial grade, but it can’t compare to nugs I get from my pal up the street who gets it fresh straight from the source. -

People aren’t applying the same critical eye to other teams apparently to be so negative on the Sox. Let’s look at the Yankees. Two of their best hitters never make it through a season. Voit goes down they replace him with Bruce. Which means they have poor middle infield depth, otherwise they just move DJLM over for the time being. Their bullpen after Aroldis and Green garbage compared to ours. After Cole every member of their rotation is questionable. Would you trade Kluber, German, Taillon and Montgomery for Lynn, Keuchel, Cesase and Rodon? I sure wouldn’t. If you don’t trust Cease and Rodon how you gonna trust German and Montgomery? Same issues without the upside. Maybe Kluber rebounds I’d rather take my chances with Lynn. Keuchel or Taillon. Taillon is pure projection. Keuchel actually gets the job done. They’ve got one the worst defensive catchers in the game who also forgot how to hit. He isn’t going to help that shaky staff any. Torres is one the worst shortstops defensively. Sox have the better team -

Modern baseball is all about the bullpen and we’ve got the best one. 99 wins or bust -
Mendick played shortstop a lot more than second in the minors. He’s probably the best defensive mid infielder the Sox have.
