Fans at opening day? Fans at Opening Day! (confirmed)
Vulture replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why? You have to show proof you have a ticket but that doesn’t take hours -
I don’t think they gave Lopez 2.1 million to pitch at AAA

3/6 | White Sox vs Cleveland | 2:05PM CT | WTAM 1100
Vulture replied to Tnetennba's topic in 2021 Season in Review
Back then the Sox also had nine pitchers pitch 95% of the innings. So they could carry six guys on the bench. There’s no room for a pinch hitter like that in today’s game -
I feel like Jose Rodriguez is the sleeper here in this prospect group. You’ve got him ranked higher than others do, so I’m guessing you agree. My prediction he is top ten by next spring. Vega you describe as top of rotation potential but you have him ranked behind guys you say have mid rotation potential. Why is that? I’d think that would put him in top five. Dahlquist for example isn’t really any more advanced in development and considered mid rotation potential. I see that sort of thing all the time in prospect rankings just wondering why

Nothing says strength like standing around holding each other cocks in a desperate attempt to be accepted into a group

Study: White Sox fans drink the most of any fanbase
Vulture replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
49 bucks for 2.8 drinks at LAA. Yikes If this is accurate, that’s close to 2.5 billion in alcohol sales alone. The idea that teams that have been soaking their customers for products at something like 1000% above cost minimum, while collecting tv revenues that alone exceed expenses, are broke is laughable. -
What difference does throwing arm make for an outfielder??
-
The only one of those even close as a prospect to Eloy, Moncada, Robert and Vaughn was Beckham but he too wasn’t that highly rated. The question was “sure thing” prospects not panning out not pretty good prospects not panning out

Can o corn in May I tells ya!

That’s an AZ home run.

That almost sounded like a cue ball breaking a rack
-
I was leaving pitchers out of it. It’s hard to say how much Rodons failings have had to do with elbow issues. I’m going to wait to see how he rebounds after TJS rehabilitation before I consider him a bust anyway
-
The only comparable “sure thing” talents Sox have had any time recently are Eloy, Moncada and Robert none of whom appear to be busts. Trying to think who you could be thinking of...Beckham? He was a high end prospect but I think a notch below. I just have a hard time imagining Vaughn busting. He’s basically everything you’d want in a hitter. He already has better plate discipline than anyone we’ve got

They care if it’s a dodgers game. Dodgers/Sox game last year was packed. Other Sox games are virtually empty. Giants games sell out too. Scottsdale is practically SF South in march

Jimmy Cordero...the forgotten breakout candidate

Engel max velocity 113.5 garcia 108 since 2019: Garcia 60.9 PA/hr, Engel 37.8 -
They are doing the same in angels-red game I’m watching now. Not a fan but i guess the underlying point of spring training is training rather than playing a game, but then I didn’t buy a ticket.

Jimmy Cordero...the forgotten breakout candidate
Vulture replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’d say it’s much more likely than that. None of those guys have Engel’s plus plus defense to fall back on, and none of them are behind injury prone stopgaps on the depth chart. Garcia lacks Engel’s power, the others lack his speed. -
Jimmy Cordero...the forgotten breakout candidate
Vulture replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He’s never had the opportunity to hit consistently. Eaton could easily be pushed to fourth of/DH role. Maybe that’s why they got him instead of acquiring player that required more than a one year commitment -
I don’t know but he started over 40 games at third between AAA and the majors the last two years so I’d assume so
-
Hopefully reports of his demise were premature
