  1. Right. In that case the question becomes where does Benintendi or Eaton play. Not that difficult really.
  2. Then the question is where does Benintendi or Eaton play. Not that difficult
  3. Yes that would be the modern equivalent of about 1.3 million dollars. Kirby Puckett was the first to make three million a year in 1992. That is the equivalent of about 5.6 million today.
  4. Jorge Orta left the Sox via free agency after ‘79 season. It was Bernazard who was traded for Julio Cruz
  5. Burnes isn’t eligible for free agency until ‘25 though so this year wouldn’t be only consideration. Lynn free agent next year, Keuchel the year after that. Sox can definitely use Burnes
  6. Pretty sure all fields have turf otherwise we’d just be playing on rock.
  7. “It would have been evident to everyone that he would be ready next year, if not sooner.” Sounds like Hahn is saying he is ready to me.
  8. Why would they do it then? No way I’d trade Burnes or Woodruff without getting getting one of them back
  9. I’d love to see the Sox sign Colome still. If we could have Hendriks, Bummer, and Colome for late innings pushing Heuer and Marshall into mid innings role; that would be an absolutely lights out bullpen. Imagine Heuer coming in in the fifth when things go shaky instead of Cordero. Would be too good to happen though probably
  10. I’m not sure I buy the defense argument, unless the defense didn’t show up for Bauer but it did for Gray, Castillo, Clevinger, Civale etc. Otherwise, those other guys would have been practically unbeatable with a better defense. Interestingly bref and fangraphs are almost identical for his ‘18 and ‘20 seasons. I thought he was actually asking for even more than that, but if 4 WAR a year is worth 30 million a year wouldn’t there be a lot more guys making 30+ a year? There were 72 players at 4+ war in 2019 for example
  11. I agree with that. With Hendriks and Bummer the Sox can go to Heuer and Marshall in the mid innings if needed. Hendriks basically makes each spot in the pen below him more valuable by one step, which provides greater value than just the 65-70 innings he himself will pitch. Now if they can resign Colome and do that one more time we’d really be in business but I’m probably just being greedy now.
  12. Well I do agree he’s going to be overpaid if he gets close to what he’s asking for
  13. I guess the discrepancy there is bref has Bauer at 1.1 WAR for 2019. Which I would argue is more accurate. No way Bauer was worth 3.3 wins above replacement that year
  14. I wouldn’t want to move Moncada off third, he’s too good there.
  15. I never said that, you must have me confused with someone else.
  16. If they trade Heuer now that kills part of the value of signing Hendricks. We want a stacked bullpen, no? There’s got to be another way
  17. In this era of five inning pitchers, I’d think 160+ innings would have to be considered a full workload anyway.
  18. I thought he signed with 2 years service time. Upon further review you are correct
  19. The Nola deal was a year earlier in his arb process though.
  20. Right. The correct way to calculate it would be (x/162 + y/162 + z/60) * 162. The way you did it gives him credit for war he didn’t actually achieve.
  21. Oh so you’re just giving war for those 102 games he didn’t play
