  1. I don’t think wrapping your arm around the wall at the elbow is the preferred method
  2. Engel was originally reported as 2-4 weeks
  3. I’d say you either trade for one or don’t trade for one. No reason to risk Vaughn in left too
  4. Yeah let’s put another top bat that doesn’t know what he’s doing out in left. What could possibly go wrong?
  5. So much for top 3 lineup in baseball.? this is why Sox should’ve invested in another bat. No room my ass
  6. I took it at as him implying foreign substances explain Bauer doubling his spin rates overnight
  7. I doubt Robert bats second. Probably just maximizing number of at bats in ST since he obviously needs the work.
  8. Because you want your best hitters to get the most base runners on base from their appearances, not the most appearances. 3-6 hitters hit with 20-25% more base runners over course of a season. Sacrificing that for fifteen extra at bats isn’t worth it
  9. In this case, your recollection seems to have no basis in objective reality though
  10. I’d rather take a chance at catching lightning with Williams than go with Hamilton. Any other OFers of note still on the roster?
  11. Didn’t realize Williams is still only 27. Highly rated prospect at one point who had a pretty strong rookie year. I wonder if he actually has a shot of making the team considering he’s still playing this late
  12. Considering the Rays are one of the most successful franchises of the last twelve years I don’t see the problem there. They are obviously able to maintain a competitive franchise
  13. What an idiot. If you’re going to threaten players do it before the bet not afterwards. Duh
  14. Wow. Last year was the first time since 2013 Sal managed to reach a .300 obp. Obviously catching is the main thing with a catcher, but he really cashed in on 60 games there
  15. Thirty Tons A Day was about Bill Veeck’s time as a horse racing track owner operator, but it’s Veeck so I figured worth mentioning
  16. Then there’s Catcher in the Wry by Bob Uecker
  17. I just remembered ‘The Glory of Their Times’ from 1966 is great. A collection of transcriptions of talks with what were then old time ball players. A real document of a long gone America. I might actually put that at number one
  18. Yeah but he didn’t appear in 84 games. Has anyone ever appeared in 14 games in a month or are we just citing irrelevant facts?
  19. Not sure if they count but I actually thought Veeck’s Hustler’s Handbook and Thirty Tons a Day were more interesting. Ball Four is still my favorite.
  20. If 28 innings did him, it was probably inevitable anyway
  21. Thankfully, I don’t think La Russa is that stupid.
