Rick Hahn 2021 End of Season Press Conference

That would solve the problem, so would Adam Frazier but I wouldn't give up Vaughn for Frazier. -

One thing we all have in common is we love our White Sox. We don't always agree on everything but we can agree on that. -

I had that thought also, and would welcome that as an alternative to Semien. It actually might be preferable since Semien will take years and lot's of $$$$ and Frazier has 1 year remaining at just under 600,000. -

Don't discount a lawyer who happens to be the general manager for an owner unwilling to spend because they believe they have the answers already on the team and in the minors. Our only hope is said owner spends money in order to make Tony's job easier and so he can proclaim that Tony was the right choice to be our Manager. If they signed Marte, and Semien I would be happy. -

We can stop dreaming about the Sox signing a right fielder with Hahn's comment at the presser after comparing the Sox 2nd base needs to RF. Hahn was emphasizing how the team’s situation is superior in right field due to Andrew Vaughn and Gavin Sheets, even if neither seem like everyday, 650-plate appearance players at the position. “We feel very bullish on the futures of Andrew Vaughn and Gavin Sheets,” Hahn said. “We envision them playing significant roles on multiple White Sox clubs going forward. We will spend some time over the next few months figuring out what is the best fit for them in 2022. Could be DH possibilities, right-field possibilities. They’re both natural first basemen and we’ve seen how quickly Andrew acclimated to left field. They provided us with good options and flexibility.” (Source James Fegan, The Athletic) -
Could Sox have beat Red Sox and Braves?

Agree, I still can't understand why Tony moved Leury from 2B to RF replacing Engel in game 2 against Houston. -

I never suggested they sign Rosario or Solar in my initial post. I mentioned that we needed defensive outfielders to fill in for injured players. Although Eloy was coming back, and yes he did make some nice plays the second half I still don't consider him a defensive outfielder. I wanted Marte, who would have helped on the basees, hitting, and defense. Sorry I didn't mention that earlier I was just using the Braves as an example of a team filling a need in their outfield. -

That was a bone-headed move when Tony pulled Engel I agree, I couldn't believe what I was seeing when he made the move nor will I ever understand it. -
Actually the front end results don't look to good either as both teams have yet to win their division, and neither made the playoffs in 2021. The one we missed out on was Wheeler and the Sox had the higher offer only to be trumped by Wheeler's wife who wanted to stay out east. Can't say I blame him.

Not discounting your source , however there are many ways to look at stats, and Avi is 31st on this list. Outs Above Average (OAA) is the cumulative effect of all individual plays a fielder has been credited or debited with, making it a range-based metric of fielding skill that accounts for the number of plays made and the difficulty of them. For example, a fielder who catches a 25% Out Probability play gets +.75; one who fails to make the play gets -.25. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/outs_above_average?type=Fielder&startYear=2021&endYear=2021&split=no&team=&range=year&min=q&pos=9&roles=&viz=show

I don't know if that's the only reason they won, but I do know we lost a game against Houston in part because Leury misplayed that ball that sailed over his head. -

My point was the Sox needed MLB outfielders due to injuries, but instead of signing any at the deadline as rent a players, we choose to go with Goodwin, Leury, Vaughn, and Sheets. With the exception of Goodwin none of the Sox options could be considered an outfielder, and even Goodwin was a stretch. SO, as long as you suggested it, yes I would have preferred Solar, Duval and Rosario as rent a players to at least catch a ball. I saw no Sox outfielder with the exception of Robert make a catch like Rosario did in the World Series. And none that would have been named MVP of the World Series like Solar was for his bat. -
The Cubs will sign him long term and pray the DH comes to the NL but will use him in the outfield also until they find a better option.
-
PASS.........we need defense not another DH. Marte is the answer, but the Sox won't sign anyone longer than 2 years and Marte already turned down 3 for $30
-
Avisail is not the defensive outfielder the Sox need to play everyday in right, I thought Engel would fill the bill this year but injuries cost us the defense we so badly needed in the outfield. I'd like Marte or Conforto but my guess is the Sox don't offer anyone longer than a year with a club option, which means we don't sign anyone worthwhile. Buckle-up for another year of Engel-Sheets-Vaughn-and there goes another one over my head Leury.

NO, our defense was terrible. We basically had 1 actual outfielder and sat back as the Braves traded for 4 outfielder at the deadline. Our biggest need is defense, until we shore that up we're not winning anything. -
Can you read the entire post....... I said " I was wrong about the Cody comparison question I asked" Obviously you are Mr Know it all who speed reads thru posts without comprehending what was said. I admitted I was wrong, something I'm sure you've never admitted in your life. Bury yourself in stats, while I watch the games and listen to the announcers expert analysis who have more insider information than your stat book. Enjoy reading while I watch the games.

Thanks for the stats on Cody, as I said previously I didn't watch the Cubs much and don't pour over statistics. Based on your report I was wrong about Cody (I was going by what I saw the few times I switched channels), but the point of my comments were really regarding Kraig Kimbrel and I was wrong about the Cody comparison question I asked.

Can't agree that it's Tony's fault, he came into a situation where his first priority was gaining the players respect, and that took time away from teaching fundamental baseball. After he had a year to watch the same mistakes we've witnessed year after year let's see what happens in spring training this year. To say that's it's Tony's fault because our outfield was basically a bunch of retreads after the injuries to Robert and Engel is not fair. To say he's responsible for all the mistakes made in the field in my opinion has to do more with the players who were signed by the GM than his managerial ability. Your opening comment is off the chart ridiculous.

Agree, too many games were filled with embarrassing errors that are directly related to fundamentals. Someone brought up that opening series against the Angels and it was a microcosm of the errors. It was painful to watch, and while they improved slightly after that series too many games were lost by not paying fundamental defense such as you mentioned.
