  1. And who expected Rodon to perform like he did the first half, let's hear from the people who thought the Sox were crazy for not offering a QO. All I know is Lopez throws gas and no one figured out his eye problem until this year so I'm hoping for a rebound.
  2. "The money will be spent", people throw this line around all the time mocking Management, but I honestly believe the sox game plan is to wait until the trade deadline to make their decision on who to add based on need at the time. We have enough as the roster stands to stay in the division race until then and hopefully Kimbrel will have pitched decently enough to be used as a trade piece. Call me delusional but I think Reynaldo Lopez is going to give us what Rodon provided last year. He was way better than Giolito when he came over and when he's on, his fastball is commanding. IN 2018 he pitched 188 innings, 3.91 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 151 K's without his recent corrective eye surgery. Let's hope that's the missing piece in his development because he has the arm to throw in the high nineties.
  3. He also dominated the first half of last year, however the facts remain in the 7 years he was with the Sox he has only averaged 95 innings per year. While he did pitch 132 last year, he was toast after the All-Star game. I'm not wishing ill will on Carlos but the Sox made their decision based on his track record and injury history. Should they have at least made the QO to at least get a draft pick is debatable, but signing him to a contract at the money Boras wanted is not a smart baseball decision. I hope he proves me wrong now that he's in the NL but I don't think 22 million per year is a smart contract given his injury history and the way he fell of last year in the second half.
  4. a) Agree b) Agree c) Agree d) This was an overreaction by a disgruntled fan who spoke before he knew all the facts.
  5. agree, plus maybe some more kids can attend the earlier start time and not get home close to midnight. We need more young people to get interested in the game and a 6:10 start might help with that. We don't need any more old grumbling Sox fans who complain about every move Management makes. Give it a rest, you'll figure out a way to attend the game if you really want to be there. I think most people who complain on this board sit at home and watch on TV anyway at least one would think so since how many times have we heard "I'm not giving my money to JR"
  6. And....if you're in need of some new Sox gear, stop in at Grandstand on 35th. Family owned and operated and it beats giving your money to MLB outlets online or in the park.
  7. That will work, try the shrimp basket at the Hot Dog stand on 35th or a burger, both are good before or after the game and you're likely to run into some Sox personell as well. I ran into Ron Kittle buying a dog before the second home game of the Astro playoff series.
  8. Tailgating is the way to enjoy beers and food at the game, paying $10+ for a beer inside is crazy.
  9. It's way past an hour and nothing happening on the Conforto to PHilly front. Guess the Sox arn't the only team not willing to risk last years stats at Conforto's asking price which is dropping daily.
  10. Bought some Hamms recently and it's actually not bad. Land of Sky Blue Waters.
  11. Agree, between Miller Lite and Coors Light, I might as well hit the drinking fountain for the same watery taste.
  12. And you think the Sox need more power? I think we need defense and situational hitting, we have enough power.
  13. Disagree, but time will prove me wrong. The SOX went for it last year and were all in spending the money to sign without question one of the top, if not the top reliever in the NL at the time of the trade. This was going to be our WS ticket, it's not Managements fault for trying to put the Sox over the top. Blame Kimbrel.
  14. As a rookie in 2019 he led all PHilly outfielders with 13 defensive runs saved despite making just 59 starts. I'll take the defense, plus he's a lefty. Everyone hoping it was Kimbrel in return is crazy, relievers/closers fail all the time and some team (LA) will be looking for one once the season gets going. Hopefully Kimbrel will be decent in his set-up role and attract some teams attention who is desperate for a closer. Patience people.
  15. It's hard to have a conversation with someone who is always so negative, save yourself most people who call themselves "fans" are just here to hate on management. It gets old real fast.
  16. I don't know about that. Yes Cespedes is raw and may need some time to develop into a complete player, but hell we don't have time. If he can play defense and throw out runners like he has shown this spring that's all we need from him.
  17. I doubt it, he'll be lucky if he gets a 1 year deal at 15 million
  18. NO, please say no, the Goose can't be gone in favor of Miller sucking Light.
