  1. What a bunch of B.S.....Some Astros players told my investigators that they did not believe the sign-stealing scheme was effective, and it was more distracting than useful to hitters. I am neither in a position to evaluate whether the scheme helped Astros hitters (who were unquestionably a very talented group), nor whether it helped the Astros win any games. Manford should be banned for making an asine comment like that basically defending the Astros.
  2. The funny thing is, I said "Jerry was to blame" and he goes on to say my comment was "patently false", then he goes to great lengths to say it was Jerry's fault. Then he agree's with my comment that Hahn wanted Hinch "Hahn may have wanted to hire Hinch and might have given Hinch the indication that he was the top candidate". We also saw Hinch's signature on the Tony LaRussa welcome the new Sox manager post, so that leads me to believe Hahn's mind was set on Hinch. Anyway it's all water under the bridge, Jerry, Tony and Kenny aren't going anywhere soon. Once they do we can only pray for an owner that want's to win at all cost.
  3. For a minute there I actually thought you had insider information as if you were a member of the Sox front office, but sorry you lost me when you stated "namely Keuchel and some of the Spanish guys".
  4. Lots of people dislike the Manager on this site after practically every game regardless of who the manager is, but every manager on every team makes decision's that the fan base disagrees with. It's part of being a fan, but it get's taken up a notch on this site with a lot of hate. Of course we would like to see the same 9 players go out day after day without rest, but it's not sustainable.
  5. I go back a little further, I hav't been happy with a White Sox manager since Chuck Tanner 1970-75 or perhaps Jeff Torborg, but other than Ozzie in 2005 all the other's were worthless.
  6. It's too late for a change at this point, let Tony have at it one more year, only because that's the reality. Now if they don't make the ALCS then I yes would make a change. They all supported and said the same thing after Ricky's last season, what do you expect them to say? "I hate playing for my manager" who BTW has a three year contract. Not saying the team didn't come together under Tony, but I wouldn't take what players say about their manager at the end of a season when a reporter ask's the question.
  7. Absolutely it was all Jerry, who I believe was afraid of the fallout if Hahn hired his man Hinch. Talk about an oxymoron by instead hiring Tony with his two DUI's, but this is also on Hahn who I believe came to the Hinch conclusion too soon instead of taking the time to interview the field as Balta1701 said earlier.
  8. I guess I did rule the Sox out in my post, thinking about it longer and my answer remains the same, he's not coming to the Chicago White Sox. Besides the money and 3-5 year commitment a signing like this would take, the front office is waiting on the cheaper Cespedes or Colas to make it in 2022-23. Remember according to Hahn this team is built for "multiple championships". I was born in 1959 so multiple championships for the White Sox is not in my vocabulary.
  9. BINGO!! Great answer, and I too would rather had "the field" than Hinch, Tony, Ozzie, or any other former Sox player the front office could fall back on. We need new ideas, a new way of doing things and signing an experienced coach or one with a fresh set of ideas would have been the way to go. Now if we can only get rid of Jerry, Kenny, and all the other former Sox player/coaches.
  10. Not sure we're going to get any bites on Adolfo, unless he was part of a multi-player trade. His build screams DH, but is numbers aren't that impressive. if a team is interested they'd wait knowing he could end up on waivers.
  11. It's a great idea but let's be realistic. Yes, Jerry put out that kinda money for Robert but that was when the payroll was much lower than it's current 2022 estimated payroll of 155 Million. Think Cubs with only 40 something committed to 2022, Yankee's, Dodgers, Angels or Seattle as his landing spots but he's not coming to the White Sox.
  12. Tony should have stayed retired but I really didn't want HInch, If Bochy was available then it was a mistake not to go after him. I don't believe Bochy was available or maybe he didn't want the Sox. Let's see if Bochy is interested in managing the Cardinals because that job would be more attractive to him than the Sox job was.He has managed in the NL for 25 years on the west coast (12 years with the Padres and 13 years with the Giant's) so I really don't think he was interested in the Chicago White Sox even if the job was never offered. So I go back to my original question which only had 1 reply of Ozzie. Since Hinch is a cheater and the fan base would have gone nut's had we hired him, and if Bochy was unavailable (hypothetically without knowledge of this fact), who besides Tony was available? Or is Ozzie the consensus?
  13. Tony La Russa last managed the White Sox in 1986, Jack Mcdowell came in 1987. Did he have a way-back machine that transported him back onto the team in 1986 or does Jack have sour grapes.
  14. Question, why do you even watch Chicago sports teams if they upset you so much? Take up gardening, than you can b**** at the weeds.
  15. Not a fan of the Tony hire, but I agree with everything you said. I was done with Tony in the 80's when he revolutionized the game by changing pitchers as often as he did, but it proved to be the standard for all managers until the 3-batter rule was instituted. Although I wasn't a fan of the 3 batter rule at first, I grew to like it. While it's tough to watch if your pitchers can't locate the plate, at the same time the pitcher is making million's of dollars and should at least be able to throw strikes.
  16. Jeez enough of the Wikipedia copy and paste about bands, this is suppose to be a sports blog.

  18. How is asking a question condescension? Sorry if you're that fragile.
  19. I can agree with that, no matter what the baggage he'd bring (quit on team) it wasn't as much Tony and his DUI's.
  20. I'll repeat as you clearly didn't understand the question. So I ask if not Tony, Hinch, or Bochy then who?
  21. Wow... I remember this and I always felt sorry Hahn didn't get to choose his man after architecting the rebuild, but he clearly didn't agree with Jerry's hire. Only 4 minutes in but it's painful to watch. Not sure Hinch was the man which is who I believe Hahn was going to hire which may be why Jerry stepped in. Only problem instead of a cheater we ended up with Tony and his DUI's which can be argued is worse than the cheating. Bruce Bochy was my choice but after reading he turned down the Padres he may not have been an option which could be why Hahn turned to Hinch. As much as the faithful didn't want Tony, I don't think we wanted a cheater either. So I ask if not Tony, Hinch, or Bochy then who?
  22. I agree with the first part, but I can't disagree more about 2005. Yes it takes a lil luck to win a World Series (dropped 3rd strike game 2), but this team went wire to wire in first place for the entire year and than 11-1 in the postseason with 4 pitchers throwing complete games. That is DOMINATION, especially when we swept the Astros who had a very good team that year. I enjoyed watching the rebuild and I'd rather watch rookies than the retreads we were throwing out there year after year. I use to hate the Cubs, but you know what after 2005 and with the Cubs win in 2016 I lost my hate when we accomplished the goal of winning the WS before them. Enjoy their rebuild, it should be fun to watch. I just read they have less than 50 million committed to salaries next year so their offseason should be more exciting than the Sox if Jerry and the boys stick to the script now that they have pocketed all that extra postseason $$$$$
  23. you are correct and BTW Dick Allen is still my favorite White Sox player. here's some comments after last years firing. “Ricky was a great manager,” AL MVP Jose Abreu said. “He was a great person. He helped me a lot. I was honored to be part of a team that he managed.” Renteria rarely, if ever, called players out in the media or used media to motivate players. If a message needed to be delivered, it came from the manager’s mouth, or one of his staff. “For me, Ricky was a great man on and off the field,” 23-year-old left fielder Eloy Jimenez said. “He helped me a lot. On the field, he gave me the confidence to go out and play, he helped me every single day. I’m going to miss him, but business is business.”
