  1. I like someones suggestion that I read the other day. If Moose can play 2B, why can't Burger?
  2. I wouldn't take even a year flyer for Conforto, not coming off those stats and having to lose a draft pick just so he can start in RF for a season. If he's still around after the July draft then I would offer him a deal for the remainder of this year only. We won't lose too many games because of our RF defense between opening day and July that warrants signing him now.
  3. I'd prefer a little more power, but I still think the COVID thing set him back and he lost some it because of that, hopefully it will return because he can mash. The only thing that bothers me about him is he doesn't seem to have the desire or determination to improve and seems to give a damn at times. He'll make the hard plays, it's the easy ones that involve concentrating and seeing the ball in your glove that he sometimes has problems with. Don't forget the man is set financially and could have lost some of the drive to excel that got him the big payday with Boston in the first place. Just a thought, I still like him at 3B and wouldn't trade him. Let's hope he clears his head of outside distractions (singing career) and just plays ball.
  4. I firmly believe in the eye test. Went to spring training 4-5 years ago before Anderson became a batting champ and the sound of the ball coming off his bat was louder than most players I saw. You won't find the sound coming off a bat on any stat sheet that I know of. While technically it was an "ear test" being there in person and seeing it with my eyes made me a believer in Tim Anderson before he became a star.
  5. While that is a good idea, it will have to wait until next year only if Abreu retires because we have too many DH's on this team as it stands. If Sheets continues to progress he'll take over at 1st if Jose retires next year instead of Vaughn, and unless there's a trade Vaughn should be in LF over Eloy, with Eloy the DH as you suggested. I can see Left Field being a Vaughn/Engel platoon, Robert in CF, and If Cespedes is the real deal he'll take over RF
  6. How true, he even had a concussion after the Field Of Dreams game after hitting his head on the fence. But very time I swear off one of his misplays he seems to hit a HR and everyones back to loving Leury. He's not a outfielder, and if we continue to play him in RF and CF as he played the other day in Spring training we are doomed. I have to disagree with Tony on this one, Leury is a utility player and nothing more.
  7. Sorry to see you go, but hey hey here's a link you'll be needing. https://www.bleedcubbieblue.com
  8. It won't be the worst if Engel can stay health
  9. Again, read I said both could be an option in 2023 and I'm leaning towards Colas to fill the spot and not Cespedes. Sox will not sign a free agent RF, period end of story not happening.
  10. Never said Colas would be expected to play RF in 2022, if you read I said 2023. Sox philosophy is to wait and not sign anyone longterm because they believe they have someone just as good .
  11. My take is they'll live with the platoon they had last year and wait for Colas or Cespedes to hit the majors. They don't see the need to sign a RF like Conforto longterm and are counting on Colas to make the team in 2023. If the market falls and Conforto will take one year with an option I'm for it.
  12. Good morning ....wake-up people, that's not happening. There will be no RF signing. We will go to opening day with what we threw out there last year with Leury most likely the starting RF on opening day.
  13. Speaking of the Cubs, were all up in arms that we didn't sign anyone, but the Cubs who have one of the lowest 2022 payrolls have done very little. My hope is we work a trade for one of Oaklands frontline starters Frankie Montas or Chris Bassitt. Bring em home Hahn.
  14. I think we look at the money being paid today and the years and over think that the contract's are bad. There NOT, or else the owners wouldn't be making them. It's not hard to imagine with the cost of tickets, parking, and the price of anything in the ballpark ($8.00 for water, seriously) and that's without mentioning the TV contracts and revenue from ads and signage that the owners are making a ton of money. Look-up how much Jerry paid for the Sox and what their worth today. It's time Jerry stopped stuffing money under his mattress and started spending, however it's already too late as all the top free agents are disappearing quickly.
  15. Better than the collection of dog pictures everyone was posting during the playoffs that was somehow going to bring us a victory.
  16. Yikes, didn't realize he was 38, your right too risky especially since he'll want 3 years. Let some other team roll the dice, as long as he doesn't come back to hurt us in the playoffs because I think he'll has 1 good year in him. Unless he's drinking the Tom Brady water.
  17. Verlander anyone? He threw about 25 pitches today @ 94-97 mph according to Joel Sherman for 15-20 teams, wonder if Hahn was there?
  18. Good catch, plenty of companies could use someone like you for their Quality Control.
  19. Once in awhile you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
