Official 2008-2009 College Basketball Thread

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) I really do. ISU has two players better than any player on Illinois. Osiris would be hands down the best player on that court. I also think ISU is more athletic than Illinois. The difference in my eyes would be the size. If ISU could get decent rebounding, I think they would win in a close one between the two teams. The difference would be Osiris and Oguchi's rebounding. I'm an MVC guy and an Illini hater as much as anyone here, but don't be ridiculous. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 08:40 PM) Carbondale just does not feel like it's in Illinois at all. That's not a negative comment about it, but between the 5 and a half hours or so it is away from I-88 and the appearance of it to a degree and the weather and the feel of the town even, it just feels like it's part of the south (although geographically, it pretty much is). I have REALLY enjoyed my time whenever I was there, but it just seems like a different world despite being in the same state. Makes me realize how big Illinois is. I think I would love living there actually though, except for the fact it seems so damn isolated. Other than Marion, nothing at all is that nearby it seems like. I have family down in southern Illinois, grew up there for part of my life, went to SIU. It's hilarious when people think that southern IL is the same as Georgia and Alabama, when it's not. I don't get it.

Did they have to show Chase Daniels family after EVERY play? -
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) You really wanna bring up a common opponent...Tampa Bay going apes*** on Chicago's secondary. Enough said. Oh no, you di'int. I forgot how dynamic the Dallas secondary was this year. Bears=White Sox, weren't expected to do anything. Maybe win 4 games, went on to win 9. Cowboys=Cubs, the nation crowning then NFC kings before playing a game and don't do anything in the post season, or get to the post season, for that matter. Do not even compare the two.

How hasn't Oliver Perez been signed yet? I know he isn't great but with what is out there, he should be somewhere by now. Come on Milwaukee or St. Louis.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) Have a nice nap. Doesn't Kate Winslet get mega nekkid in it? That would keep me awake.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) Poor Kevin Dillard. Really glad we didn't go. Good to see Dill have a great game though. I didn't get to see the game and thought something had happened to him. Phew. Gonna take a lot of lumps this year. Sucks it has to be BMull's last season. -
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) Hmm, I see what you did there. I'll take my disappointing Cowboys team over a pathetic Bears squad anyday. How did the Cowboys do against the Rams? Who is pathetic? Oh. I would of been able to sleep better if TB or Dallas had won anyway despite our loss. Screw it. We won about 5 more games than I thought we would at the beginning of the year.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 09:26 AM) From what I have heard though, this is supposedly Pitt's finest performance, so I guess I can understand the shooting. 12 Monkeys? Anyone?
-
Coughlin will pull Eli at halftime and not play Jacobs at all, it sounds like. David Carr to play the 2nd half.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 12:32 AM) What's always funny to me about these stories is not that someone got shot, but that someone else was carrying a gun into that particular place or situation. Why in the phuck do you need cannon at the movies?? A gun doesn't accidentally make it's way into your pants. This MFr decided to go the movies and thought "hmmm, I should get my gun." Of course not. I was born with it. High 5! /Scrubs reference

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 06:59 AM) Hopefully this is where SIU can start to turn around the season. I'm not holding my breath though. BTW, did you see that Champ and Osiris are already talking undefeated season? Ridiculous. I'm with you. I thought playing Duke and UCLA would help us improve but it hasn't. I have a feeling that this season will be the one know to me as "Waiting for Boyle to graduate" season. Who can blame the Deadbirds? I mean with all those tough teams they played so far. =P Valley road games are so tough, no way they go undefeated. They should be near the top though. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) He's an amazing passer. That's crazy that his GPA is so bad. As for Smith, I just don't see how his game translates to college ball at this time. He just lowers his head and runs into people in the lane. He picked the right game to make me look bad, but believe me, I see the kid play about 15 times a year. He is one of the best in state when he is on. He looks so out of it tonight though. Not even getting rebounds like he usually does. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) Smith reminds me of Gary Bell of Joliet fame. I was excited to see Smith on tv after reading some of the posts on here, but I've been extremely disappointed in him. I'll hold out hope that he'll still haunt the Illini. Good thing college coaches don't determine what a kid is after 1 half of a game where he has the flu. Traversa, the guard for St. Patricks, decent player but has a GPA of 1.4. -

Nice to see Steward having a good game for a big TV audience for Zion. I think he is underrated and could play at a mid major. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) Watching the 1st quarter, and he needs to lose some weight to be a shooting guard in the major college ball. He has bad genes. He is deceptively overweight though. I thought the same thing but when you see him in person and up close, he isn't very overweight at all. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 08:59 PM) Lenzelle Smith will be on Comcast with his game televised in 5 minutes. Saw he had a tough one last night. Heard he has the flu and not 100% -
Only 67 pts scored in the 1st quarter of Bulls/Hawks

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) I saw these pics on Barstool Sports a few days back. If only the face matched the lower end... This, "butt" still... See what I did there?

I'm an admitted "leg and butt" guy, so this is kinda cool.... http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/year-ender-t...nominator-21489
