I don't get the love affair of Conforto on a long term deal. He was HORRIBLE last year and also injured. We are complaining about the injuries with Eloy and Engel, yet want to spend 20+M on the same type of player... why? Because he hits left handed? He's not a good fit for this team on a 100M contract. He has not proven he is worth that. Can he be, sure, but I'd rather not bet on it. We have the offense to cover for RF during the first half of the season. Likely Sheets and/or Vaughn are going to show exactly where they fit in the first 2 months. If they can't play a serviceable RF (which is likely) then they get to platoon at DH and play 1B when Abrue needs a day off and we go get a player at the deadline to fill RF, there will be plenty available. But why give up a 2nd round draft pick, which is what helps you sustain long playoff runs, for an unknown player that may be worse than what we already have. It's not worth it. If he wants to come on a 1 year deal at 25M, which would mean we keep our draft pick (if i'm right about the QO rules) then I'd be okay with that. But not a long term deal that gives away our 2nd round pick. No Thanks!

Why move Vaught to get a SP, when we can just sign Rodon for money and not lose young light salaray players? No way do I want Gallo in our line up and not willing to give up a guy that costs $20M less that can potentially put up better numbers I wouldn't mind Ketel Marte, but I don't think Vaughn and lower prospects get it done cause Marte has 2-3 years left, I think? I would rather try and center something around Abrams from SD. They are in Win Now mode, and Kimbrel lines up with them really well. I'd send Kimbrel to them with a lower prospect for Abrams. He may not start out in the majors, but the hope would be we could use our young guys at 2B until Abrams is ready, and then have a cheap guy in that position while our other top guys salaries start to increase rapidly over the next 2-3 years.

No way I want Cano... I don't like Keuchel at all, but he's a guy that you need for a regular season run. You can't count on 5 SP for the season, and you need that depth. I'm okay keep Keuchel around, as long as we limit his innings so his option doesn't vest and as long as he doesn't sniff a playoff roster. I would rather see us sign a high leverage SP (Rodon would be fine with me). And then Keuchel starts in the bullpen and him a Lopez are the guys that fill in when starters need a rest or are injured. We are in position to win the world series we shouldn't be shedding payroll to shed payroll... I would rather keep Kimbrel and make him be the Andrew Miller... come in for high leverage situations early in games as a "closer" to stop threats... then you have Bummer, Gravemen, Hendricks for 7-9.

I don't really care about budget, it's "not my money"... but Semien would be the best upgrade at 2B and Marte to me would be the best upgrade to RF. Let Vaughn/Sheets alternate at DH and spell Eloy in LF. I would think you could get both of those guys for $35/year - Marte on a 2/3 year and Semien likely will take 5. Heck, give Semien an opt out after 1 and 2 years. If he's playing so well to want to opt out then whatever we paid him will have been worth it.

I agree, he had a career year in a relatively old season. I'd much rather give 25M/year to Seager or Story. Problem is those guys are going to require 6-7 year deals, Semien maybe takes a 4-5. Likely we are not going to be upgrading 2B to an elite player, so we should focus on RF to try and get an elite player there.

Here are my proposals... totally unrealistic for this franchise: Send Mercedes/Crochet to SD for Abrams/Hosmer (we pick up money for Hosmer) Padres said they would be willing to move Abrams to get rid of Hosmer and Crochet is a great add to their bullpen and Mercedes for the inevitable NL DH. Send Kimbrel/Burger/Minor Leaguer to Mariners for Kyle Lewis (Burger could be a potential replacement for Seager if he leaves) Use Hosmer to give Abreu a break and a decent lefty off the bench in the playoffs with experience Lewis in RF full time Abrams in at 2B Rotate Vaughn/Eloy/Sheets/Abreu/Hosmer in at DH/LF/1B Nice thing about Abrams is if TA get injured or is out, we have a much better replacement level player in Abrams to move to SS and have a less guy fill in at 2B.

Is there any chance that Rocker falls down into the Sox range? I don't really care if he has to have Tommy John surgery... if he's available he would be tremendous value mid 20's.

Honestly, I think their #1 Target should be trying to acquire C.J. Abrams from the Padres. They will be desperate to win next year. They really don't have room for C.J. with Cronenworth, Frazier on their roster, they have Grisham in CF, so I think they might be tempted in moving him. I honestly think that we could package Kimbrel/Crochet to SD and send some money to them and they may return C.J. He could fill the immediate need at 2B for us right now and be cost effective, a la Madrigal, for the next 6 years. The next target needs to be a legitimate #1 SP. I don't know who that is, but that should be the target and I'd even be interested in moving Vaughn for this to happen. The 3rd target needs to be a legitimate RFer, I'm done playing whoever out there, I was okay with it at first, but that critical missed fly ball in game 2 was the final straw. There are plenty of OFer's that we can grab, we need to pay the piper and get an actual good RFer for a year or two until Cespedes is ready.

I think the Grandal non rank is the biggest error on our team. Kimbrel as well, though he hasn't been as dominant with the Sox, he was the best closer in the NL outside of Hader, so the Sox have the next 2 after Hader IMO. Grandal has carried the Sox the last month, he should certainly be in the top 50.

I don't understand why MLB has to make sure each game has it's own audience. Don't you think they would get better ratings putting all the games between 5-9 pm. So what if there are 2 games being played at 7:00. I would think there are enough fans of each team that the low viewership at noon, will be less than having 2 games at the same time. How many fan bases will watch if their team isn't on anyways? Plus wouldn't advertisers rather see a higher viewership at primetime, even if it's on FS1 instead of ESPN or Fox?
